SPECIES SPECIFICATED Basra locus (Dicorynia paraensis Bth.) A heavy, pretty hard wood with gray colored sapwood and brownish gray heartwood. The wood exhibits variations in density, fineness of grain and color. The wood is strong (class II) and durable (Class I-II). It is especially known for its resistance to degradation pole worm, as a result of the content of silicic cells in the timber. The percentage is an average of 0.81%, which is high enough to prevent the pole worm infestation and low enough to be able to be processed properly. In the first place the wood is used as poles for hydraulic purposes, but has general application to other construction purposes. It is even suitable as special staves for barrels.

Berg-Gronfoloe (Qualea albiflora Warm.)

The heartwood is gray to light brown. It's rather hard and heavy. It belongs in the strength category II, durability class II and III value class IIIII. It is eligible for poles in pole worm-free zone and is widely used as construction timber. Berg-Gronfoloe is quite scarce.

Ceder (Cedrela odorata Linn) A fairly light wood with yellowish colored sapwood and reddish brown heartwood. The ethereal oils in the wood, make sure that the wood, in a dry state, is rarely affected by wood borers.

Gele Kabbes (Faveira amargosa) A parenchyma, sometimes with oily appearance; distinct from the whitish, grayish or brownish-yellow sapwood. Luster variable; texture coarse to very coarse; grain straight to strongly interlocked; without distinctive odor but with bitter taste. Silica content of 0.2% is reported. Gele kabbes can be used for industrially manufactured (laminate) flooring, interior and exterior carpentry and siding, furniture.

Groenhart (Tabebuia seratifolia Nickols) It is an extremely heavy hard wood with green brown heartwood. A fairly heavy, hard wood with orange yellow gray-brown heartwood and sapwood. The wood is strong and tough with moderate durability (strength Class I, durability class II-III). Suitable for construction purposes indoors, spokes and rims of cars. It is also used as a furniture wood because of its beautiful sheen.

Pakoeli (Platonia insignis Mart.)

A fairly heavy hard wood with yellowish sapwood and brown heartwood with dark flames.

The wood is strong (class II), tough and durable (Class II), does not tear easily and works well. It is well suited for building purposes, for timber sleepers, while it is also used for making furniture and turning.

Pikinmisiki (Pseudopiptadenia suaveolens.)

It is also used for Shipbuilding: smocks, skins, rims, interior and waterworks, lock gates in fresh water, bridge decks, lists and buttons, cutting and carving, turning, handles for tools etc.

Sali (Tetragastris) A heavy, hard wood with orange-brown heartwood and reddish yellowish sapwood. The wood is strong (class I) and durable (Class II). It has a beautiful shine and works well. It is very suitable for all kinds of purposes, such as furniture or construction wood.

Walaba (Eperua falcata Aubl.)

Walaba is a heavy, hard wood with brownish red heartwood and a lighter colored sapwood. The heartwood contains an oily substance. It is strong (class II), and very durable (class I).
