2019-2020 Issue 7
Table of Contents Pages 1-9: Quarantine Memories Pages 10-19: Senior Tribute Articles Seven weeks ago, on March 16, a decision was reached based on the unforeseen effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to temporarily shut down on-campus classes and make the transition to distance learning. Somewhere around the third week of April, it became clear that students would not be returning to campus anytime soon. This difficult decision hindered not only academics, but sports, performing arts, and what would have been the seventh issue of The Talon. As we near the end of May, it’s especially difficult for seniors as we mourn what should have been the culmination of our high school experience. Rather than focus on what’s lost, we’ve chosen to dedicate this issue to remembering the collective experiences we were able to have, as well as creating a tribute to our class as a whole. While it’s not the send off anyone desired, it’s still a chance for us to honor the class of 2020. At the same time, it would be a disservice to
ignore the events of the world. A global pandemic has created a halting shift unlike anything anyone has previously experienced. Everyday life looks drastically different, and during this time, we’ve chosen to document some unique aspects. The overall goal of this issue is two-fold. While being informative on this crazy time, we also want to shine light on some positives that have resulted from quarantine. We also hope that seniors will gain some closure as
they begin the next chapter of their lives, despite all of the unknowns. As seniors ourselves, working for The Talon has allowed us to cope in more ways than one, and we’re extremely grateful for anyone who has taken the time to read it at any point throughout its course.
