Fractal Crochet Tablecloth

I’m Knitting

My first crochet project. This is the model of Fractal doily by Essi Varis, available on Ravelry. Being my first project, I decided to go for a bigger hook. So, instead of a little doily, I ended up with a tablecloth. I'm happy, whatever!

The pattern is actually quite simple to follow and is mainly double-crochet. After a few days of work on the veins, I had the swing of the model and I did not have to check the instructions. The instructions are all written, so my next hook project will be to tackle something with a graphic!

I used a small part of a giant cone of 50% wool / 50% silk thread and not fingering fingering you used a 5mm H hook. The model calls a gauge of 10 seconds and 5.5 rows of dc to 1 inch. For me, the same number of points is 2.75 "x 3.5" (much larger than 1 ", which I knew would happen, but not the place I did not know would happen). So, my design is stretched. I do not know enough about crochet to say why my template is much longer than broad (any ideas, anyone?), Although it may be influenced by my blocking, as I did stretch that direction to block.

I have been pinned and blocked the tablecloth a bit for a while. I steamed, as I almost always do. This thread responded nicely to the block of steam, jamming in place without struggle.

I had trouble blocking this in a beautiful form. I think that on one side turned out bigger than the other (as I said, the first hook project), and the center has some rundown stains, is laid out like a tablecloth with something in the center I think all the skin pretty well.

The only unfortunate point is that my cat seems to like to attack him, so he can not be left unattended!
