Brow Lift Surgery A brow lift, or forehead lift, can help rejuvenate the upper face by lifting the brow line to a higher, more youthful, position and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles of the forehead. It is often performed in combination with a facelift and/or blepharoplasty for full facial rejuvenation.
Technique There are two broad categories of brow lift surgery, based on the incision length – a standard brow lift or short scar variation, and the endoscopic brow lift. Patients that qualify and elect to have a short scar operation will often have less downtime along with a shorter scar. The longer scar technique allows for greater access and therefore can achieve greater effects in most areas. The technique chosen is tailored for each individual patient. A lateral brow lift is a variant that can be used in selected patients who have hooding of the outer aspects of the eyebrow only. A short incision is made in the temporal hairline, the lateral brow is re-suspended and maximal results are achieved by combining this with a chemical brow lift using an anti-wrinkle injection, such as Botox. The endoscopic browlift is a minimal access technique performed by using an endoscope and specialised instruments placed through small incisions made within the hairline. This allows repositioning of the underlying tissue and muscle and re-suspension of the brow to give a more youthful appearance.
