Throughout the year, IMAS presents a broad range of exhibitions on science and art topics, many traveling from national and international museums, universities, and artists along with displays of our own permanent collection. With a diverse audience of children and adults, we aim to offer exhibitions that are educational, inspiring, and entertaining. Don’t miss the new exhibitions opening in the next few months!

XTreme BUGS!

Xtreme BUGS! Invade IMAS!

What if the ants crawling on your counter, the spider in your doorway, or the butterfly in your garden were the size of your car or even larger? What bizarre physical characteristics could you see? And what mindboggling behaviors would you observe when they move? To find out, visit Xtreme BUGS! at IMAS, beginning October 9, 2016 through March 20, 2017. Xtreme BUGS! is a 6,000 squarefoot exhibition featuring over

100 giant bugs, including 22 larger-than-life animatronic bugs, in vibrant, naturalistic habitats. Enveloped in the larger-than-life landscape of Xtreme BUGS!, visitors will be transported into a vivid, dynamic, and awe-inspiring new environment. There’s a fluttering monarch butterfly, a ladybug, a line of marching ants, an orchid mantis,

stinkbugs, spiders, honeybees, and more. Guests are invited to walk through the lens of a bug’s eye and shift their perspective on the fascinating creatures sharing our ecosystem. “This exhibition has interactive activities for all ages,” says Julie Johnson, IMAS President.
