SECTION 1 SUBMISSIONS

Control Devil “reflects on the inability to be free from unseen shackles of one’s own free will, symbolized by the pale blue, ghost-like arms.”

"This piece was inspired by the imagery of classrooms around the school. I created this piece mainly to capture the atmosphere and the environment that I’ve spent so long in. I used mostly alcohol markers and microns to create detail and depth and used pencil crayons to further increase the saturation of the colors.

THE DICHOTOMY

A dichotomy. Deitic in nature. Godly beings. Output, input. The start, the end. Everything, and nothing. Light and dark. Boyfriends. My characters. One is me, taken to extremum. The other is my ideal self. One is a dragon, the other a winged wolf.

ANONYMOUS

Created February 2023

Their friend the Cartographer. Painted digitally. A lonely soul who craves adventure like they do, but is bound to her job as a mapmaker, transcribing their journeys. She's brilliant, and the best mapmaker there is. They also included a letter written to her, on the side.

SECTION 2 PORTFOLIOS

Elena Choy is a Grade 12 student who is exploring freedom of expression through

community online, they started to develop a passion for digital art in 2018 and have

release of “Blank Space”, a short animation that they created, they have been developing a story ever since. This new probject, dubbed “Blank Canvas”, will have been released at the time of this issue’s publication.

Elena's process with digital art starts with an idea, which is then sketched out, outlined, and coloured. Dedicating 2-4 hours a day to her projects, Elena hopes to create their own indie game with a small team. Keeping the theme of self directing their own projects, Elena aspires to learn how to program in order to create their own game. The pieces displayed on this page are examples of Elena's own original characters, as well as from their animation, “Blank Space”. The characteres that they have created are related to themself, and portray a common theme of self expression.

At a young age, Isabel started experimenting with power tools and other mediums under the influence of her father, who is an architect.

Today, creating art is one of Isabel's free time hobbies, which allows her to feel tranquillity and is an opportunity for self-reflection.

Isabel bases her works on past experiences and current events, which helps her develop her values and identity.

REBECCA SUN

Rebecca enjoys experimenting with different art styles and mediums. She often bases her work on her day-today observations or things she is interested in. For instance, a Christopher Nolan movie or a Classical piece can all become her muse.
