La nouvelle initiative d’image+nation culture queer I+N FCQSFF est de retour pour une deuxième saison dédiée à la découverte de capsules étroitement tissées d’un instant, une pensée, une image en mouvement: le court métrage. Les esprits créatifs qui ont façonné ces moments, et les nombreuses histoires qu’ils racontent. Le court, voix de beaucoup de monde, permet d’explorer la narration authentique en rassemblant une multitudes d’expressions queer contemporaines. Des histoires dans lesquelles on peut se voir. Des histoires qui nous parlent. Des histoires qui parlent de nous par nous.

image+nation culture queer’s new endeavour, I+N FCQSFF is back for a second season dedicated to discovering the intricately woven capsules of a moment, a thought, a moving image - the Short Film. The creative minds that shape these moments, and the many stories they tell. The voice of many, the short form allows for the exploration of authentic storytelling, bringing together a myriad of contemporary queer expressions. Stories we can see ourselves in. Stories that speak to us. Stories that speak of us in our voice.

Dominique Léger

Kaitlyn Yott

Titulaire d’un baccalauréat en études cinématographiques de l’Université Concordia, Dominique Léger est responsable de la programmation du Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA) depuis 2018. Dominique siège régulièrement à de nombreux jurys et panels de festivals, et occupe actuellement la présidence du conseil d’administration de la Galerie Sans Nom. Iel voue une passion pour les arts, la lecture, le cinéma et la culture queer.

Kaitlyn (elle/iels) est une performeuse et artiste queer issue d’un métissage entre les Premières Nations Nisga’a, Gitxan et Nikkei et de la colonisation européenne.

Elle a activement participé au regain de la narration autochtone (Indigenous Storytelling) par la voix du Théâtre canadien. Elle a récemment bifurqué vers le cinéma, la télé et le doublage de voix, dont Querencia: la série web, en marque le début. Récemment, elle a aussi joué le rôle principal dans la série Charmed, et a doublé la voix d’un personnage dans une série animée secrète (pour l’instant) de Dreamworks.

Originally from Moncton New-Brunswick, Dominique Léger is a graduate from Concordia University in Montreal with a bachelor’s degree in film studies. They currently work as the Head of Programming for the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA). Dominique has participated in many festival panels and jurys and is the president of the Board of directors of the Galerie Sans Nom. They are passionate about the arts, reading, film and queer culture.

Kaitlyn (she/they) is a queer mixed Nisga’a, Gitxsan, Nikkei Kanadajin and European settler performer and artist. She has been an active participant in the resurgence of Indigenous Storytelling through the lens of Canadian Theatre. She recently branched into Film/TV and Voiceover, their debut being Querencia: the Web Series. She also recently played a principal role on the series Charmed, along with voicing a character on a secret (for now) animated series with Dreamworks.

Kathleen Mullen

Michael Belcher est un écrivain et éducateur basé à Montréal, au Québec. Il a obtenu un baccalauréat spécialisé en “Cultural Studies” à l’université McGill, où il a aussi écrit et mis en scène deux pièces pour le McGill Drama Festival, puis sa maîtrise en littérature anglaise à l’université Concordia en 2012. La même année, il a mis en scène sa pièce Between Night and Day au Mainline Theatre de Montréal, pièce élue parmi les 10 meilleures dans le sondage des lecteurs 2012 du Montreal Mirror. Ses poèmes ont été publiés dans Headlight Anthology et ses critiques de livres et de films dans le magazine Matrix et au sein du festival de films image+nation. Michael enseigne les arts créatifs, les études médiatiques et la littérature anglaise au Collège LaSalle. Il termine actuellement un roman.

Kathleen Mullen a contribué à la programmation, l’organisation et l’exécution de festivals de films et d’art pendant plus de 20 ans. Elle entre dans la 6ème année de son mandat de directrice du festival Seattle Queer Film Festival. Kathleen a programmé pour le TIFFI, le Musée des Beaux-Arts de Boston, le festival de cinéma LGBT Inside Out de Toronto et d’autres. Avec son entreprise Letter K Media, elle consulte auprès de cinéastes et de festivals tels que le festival de cinéma de Whistler et le festival de cinéma latino-américain de Vancouver. Elle a travaillé comme chargée de cours à l’université Simon Fraser et l’université Lesley de Boston. Kathleen a réalisé le documentaire Breathtaking et nombreux courts métrages.

Michael Belcher is a writer and educator living in Montréal, Québec. He received an Honours BA in Cultural Studies from McGill University, where he wrote and directed two plays for the McGill Drama Festival, and he completed his MA in English Literature at Concordia University in 2012. That same year, he directed his play Between Night and Day at Mainline Theatre in Montréal, which was voted a Top 10 Play in Montreal Mirror’s Reader Poll 2012. His poetry has been published in the Headlight Anthology and his book and film reviews in Matrix magazine and with the image+nation film festival. Michael teaches Creative Arts, Media Studies, and English Literature at Collège LaSalle. He is currently finishing a novel.

Kathleen Mullen has contributed to the programming, planning, and execution of film and art festivals for 20+ years. She is going into her 6th Seattle Queer Film Festival as Festival Director. Kathleen has programmed for TIFFl, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film Festival, and others. With her company Letter K Media, she has consulted for filmmakers and festivals, including the Whistler Film Festival and Vancouver Latin American Film Festival. She has worked as a term lecturer at Simon Fraser University and Lesley University in Boston. Kathleen has directed the documentary Breathtaking and numerous short films.

তথাগত ঘোষ তার ছবির মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন সামাজিক স্তরের লোকদের গল্প বলতে পছন্দ করে। যাদের নিজেদের গল্প বলার সুযোগ হয়ে ওঠেনা। তার উল্লেখযোগ্য ছোট ছবিগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে “মিস ম্যান”, “মাংস” এবং “দৈত্য “ । বি.এফ.আই ফ্লেয়ার, আউট অন ফিল্ম, কোলিশন অফ সাউথ এশিয়ান ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যাল, ইমেজ + নেশন, টলগ্রাস ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভ্যালের মতো অসংখ্য নামীদামী আন্তর্জাতিক চলচ্চিত্র উৎসবে তার ছবি প্রদর্শিত হয়েছে এবং তা নানান পুরষ্কারও পেয়েছে। সাম্প্রতিককালে তথাগত বার্লিনাল ট্যালেন্ট-এ নিজের জায়গাও করে নিয়েছিল।

Basée à Toronto, Ping est passionnée de films et croit réellement au pouvoir du film pour donner vie à des histoires sous-représentées et qu’elles puissent être vues.

Membre clé de l’équipe LesFlicks, elle s’implique dans l’écriture d’articles et de critiques de films LGBTQ+, tout en participant à la promotion et à la programmation des festivals de films. Honorée de faire partie du jury pour image+nation, elle promet d’être toujours juste, solidaire de toutes et tous les cinéastes qui offrent aux publics du contenu indispensable et voudrait remercier toutes celles et tous ceux impliqué.es dans l’organisation ainsi que le public pour leur soutien.

A Berlinale Talents 2021 alumnus, Tathagata has always believed in telling stories of people from different social backgrounds. People who do not have a voice of their own. His last short films Miss Man, The Meat and The Demon have travelled to numerous prestigious international film festivals like BFI Flare, Out on Film, Coalition of South Asian Film Festivals (CoSAFF), image+nation. festival film LGBTQueer Montréal, Tallgrass Film Festival, Cheries-Cheris, Wicked Queer, International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala to name a few and have won several awards.

Based in Toronto, Ping is a passionate film fan and truly believes in the power of seeing underrepresented stories being brought to life by film. A key member of the Lesflicks Team, she is involved in writing articles and reviews on LGBTQ+ films, as well as supporting film festival outreach and festival curation. Honoured to be on the jury for image+nation, she promises to always be fair and supportive of all the filmmakers who bring audiences much-needed content and would like to thank everyone involved in the process as well as viewers for their support.

Reynier Cepero Director y Productor de cine nacido en la Habana en 1986 . Estudió ingeniería informática en la UCI. Inició sus trabajos en el Instituto Cubano de Arte e industria cinematográficos como supervisor de efectos visuales en películas como Contigo Pan y Cebolla de Juan Carlos Cremata, La Película de Ana de Daniel Díaz Torres e Irremediablemente Juntos de Jorge Luis Sánchez y en Documentales como Luneta No.1 de Rebeca Chávez. En 2017 comenzó a desarrollarse como Director y Productor en Ornitorrinco, ganadora del premio de la audiencia en la XVI Muestra Joven ICAIC y una Mención Honorable en el NRFF-Amsterdam y Las señoritas de Avignon, ganadora del Premio Vitral a Mejor sonido y Dirección de fotos.

Director and Film Producer born in Havana in 1986. He studied computer engineering at the UCI. He began his work at the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry as a visual effects supervisor in films such as Contigo Pan y Cebolla by Juan Carlos Cremata, La Película de Ana by Daniel Díaz Torres and Irremediablemente Juntos by Jorge Luis Sánchez and in documentaries such as Luneta No.1 by Rebeca Chávez. In 2017 he began to develop as Director and Producer in Platypus, winner of the audience award at the XVI Muestra Joven ICAIC and an Honorable Mention at the NRFF-Amsterdam, and Las señoritas de Avignon, winner of the Vitral Award for Best Sound and Best Cinematography.

Querencia est une histoire d’amour de deux femmes queer autochtones issues de contextes différents, elles naviguent et explorent leurs identités indigiqueer.

Teka vient de rompre avec son petit-ami, quitte la maison pour poursuivre son rêve: devenir danseuse. Se sentant seule, elle tente les applications de rencontres. Par hasard, elle sélectionne “femmes cherche femmes”. Elle rencontre Abe, une musicienne qui a besoin de passer à autre chose après son ex : peut-être le plus heureux des accidents.

Jeanne claque la porte sur Iris. Iris ne se doute pas que sa relation est terminée.

Elle croit que Jeanne va lui pardonner; elle l’espère surtout. Iris n’est plus chez elle nulle part : toutes les portes qui s’ouvrent se referment éventuellement sur elle. Au rythme des hôtes et des maladresses, Iris apprend la vie sans Jeanne.

Querencia is a love story that follows two Indigenous queer women from divergent backgrounds as they navigate and explore their complex Indigiqueer identities and their differing cultural upbringings. Teka has just broken up with her boyfriend and moved to the big city. While feeling lonely, she tries dating apps. Mistakenly selecting “women seeking women” on her profile, she meets Abe, a struggling musician who needs to move on from her ex, which might just be the happiest of accidents.

Jeanne slams the door on Iris. Iris has no idea that her relationship is over.

She believes that Jeanne will forgive her; she especially hopes so. Iris is no longer at home anywhere; all the doors that open eventually close on her. To the rhythm of hosts and clumsiness, Iris learns about life without Jeanne.
