Principal Message Advance Through Knowledge
I am pleased to provide the following Annual Report for Ilim College of Australia as required by the Commonwealth Government as part of our funding arrangements. Throughout 2013 Ilim College saw the opening of our new campus in Glenroy catering for students from Prep – Year 6 an enormous achievement from all involved including our parents who have entrusted their children with us during this first year of operations. With its opening we have had a surge in student numbers and countless expressions of interest. Once again I am pleased to congratulate our outgoing Year 12 students on their excellent results in the VCE this year. All students completed the year and met the requirements of the Victorian Certificate of Education with success and we are very proud of them all. As like all year past in 2013 we focussed on the Principals of Teaching and Learning: • Building positive relationships • Catering for diversity • Focus on Intellectual quality • Encourage creativity & student involvement • Solve problems; develop team work and links to the community • Use varied assessment to gauge student outcomes 2013 also saw the commencement of construction of the new VCE building which will provide state of the art classrooms, segregated boys and girls common rooms, Career Counsellor rooms, staff room and teachers offices. As Principal of Ilim College I look forward to yet another rewarding and successful year in 2014.

Characteristics Student Body Ilim College offers education for students from Prep through to Year 12 at the Dallas Campus and Prep to Year 6 at the Glenroy Campus. The student population is growing rapidly with a 2013 enrolment of close to 1500 students which includes an array of different ethnic backgrounds.
Teacher Standards & Qualifications All teachers at Ilim College are registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). The requirements for registration are located at www.vit.vic.edu.au. The College conducts an annual census with VIT on a yearly basis.
Workforce Population The workforce composition consists of both Muslim and non Muslim staff to cater for the needs of our students from many different ethnic backgrounds. Male Staff = 61 Female Staff = 131 Teaching Staff = 123 Non Teaching Staff = 69 Total 192
Whole School Community Satisfaction Ilim College participated in the Independent Schools of Victoria Satisfaction Lead Survey where the College sat on par with all other like independent school in the state of Victoria. Over 500 key stakeholders took part in the survey which benefited the College in two ways firstly validation of our commitment to our children’s educational learning journey and secondly providing data to assist plan for future incentives. Ilim College student numbers have increased by approximately 500 students with the opening our Glenroy Campus with a large number of expressions of interest.

PARTICIPATION IN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING Professional Learning at Lim College is in accordance with VIT registration requirements and is a priority for all teaching staff in terms of maintaining and improving the teaching & learning.

2012 STUDENT OUTCOMES The data from the NAPLAN assessments gives the College the ability to compare our student’s achievements against the national standards and children in other states of Australia. NAPLAN is an important data source Ilim College uses to monitor student outcomes in order to ensure the programs and teaching methods meet the students’ needs.

STUDENT ATTENDANCE Student attendance is collected at the beginning of each period throughout the school day both in Primary and Secondary Departments. The attendance is recorded electronically with use of desk top computers in the Primary Department and IPADS in Secondary. When a child is marked absent in morning homeroom an SMS is generated and sent parents to obtain the reason of the students absence, if a reply is not received from parent the homeroom teachers will contact the parents.
