ALPI
Radiant is an unusual decorative surface made from wood and traversed by lines of resin, allowing light to shine through and lending a sense of translucence to the whole affair. Part of the ALPIlignum collection, it beholds innumerable possibilities for personalisation: from the choice of colour and design to the definition of the number and location of the resin inserts, enabling you to create a range of different light-based effects.

Launched in 2009, the collaboration between the V&A Museum and the London Design Festival has been a roaring success in terms of initiatives and participation levels and returns this year with an array of events, conferences and installations that ooze surprise, provocation and absolute creativity. Of the many stops inside the Museum, don’t miss the Mexican Pavilion, where architect Frida Escobedo has created the You Know You Cannot See Yourself So Well As By Reflection installation in the John Madejski Garden. Next stop is The Ogham Wall installation, created by Grafton Architects as part of the Irish Design 2015 government initiative. And not forgetting the Curiosity Cloud project by Austrian team mischer’traxler for Perrier-Jouët, before things are rounded off with the extremely tall The Tower of Babel installation, courtesy of artist Barnaby Barford. The College, 12-42 Southampton Row, WC1B 4AP | Victoria House B1, 37 Southampton Row, WC1B 4DA There are not one but two locations for this fifth edition of Designjunction, which runs between 24 and 27 September and represents a must-visit contemporary design destination and a point of reference within London Design Festival. The first location is The College, the home of Central Saint Martins, one of the most renowned art and design institutions in the world. Here, Designjunction showcases a mix of over 100 cutting-edge brands scattered throughout the five storeys of the historic building. The ground floor is dedicated to the Lightjunction exhibition, with the biggest names in the decorative lighting sector on show. Also at The College is an installation by Camilla Barnard - a huge underground station made from wood - and an interesting programme of seminars on the “Design for a reason” theme. Cross the street and you’ll find yourself outside Victoria House B1, which hosts over 50 pop-up shops: a whirlwind journey through the latest in home accessories, ceramics, design ornaments, jewellery, art prints and much more. Don’t miss Late Night Shopping (Thursday 24 between 19:00 and 21:00) and a visit to the Design Clinic (organised in collaboration with Nest.co.uk), where experts Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead from the 2 Lovely Gays duo will be handing out pearls of interior design wisdom.
