As part of the tie-up, the game developer will provide its portfolio through the Pariplay platform and will initially go live with the operator in Sweden, Spain, Denmark, Italy and Romania during the first quarter of 2020. The firm is set to launch in Gibraltar & UK later in the current year.

The deal gives 888casino access to Playson’s slots which incorporates its latest release, Fruit Xtreme, the second chapter from its Funky Fruits series.

Four Oakland County and three Macomb County businesses have shut down after the state accused them of operating illegal slot machines.

A dozen businesses in all in Michigan were issued cease-and-desist orders after investigators in 2019 visited 14 establishments that claimed to operate redemption games, which are legal, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board and Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Investigators determined the locations instead were offering casino-style video slot machines for patrons’ use and therefore constituted gambling. Outcomes on these types of machines are based on chance, not skill, officials said.

When given the opportunity to cease operations, each location chose to close rather than face potential criminal charges, Kalm said in the release. An unlicensed gambling business operator can face a 10-year felony charge.

Last month, David Hoppe, 57, of St. Clair County, last month was convicted by Macomb County jury of illegal gambling operations and three other charges in connection with operating an illicit slot-machine business in Roseville. He is scheduled to be sentenced March 5.

“Illegal gambling can lead to money laundering and other crimes that impact the safety and security of Michigan communities,” Kalm said. “Legal gambling is taxed and regulated, and taxes go back into the community as funding for K-12 education. An illegal gambling operation doesn’t support the community but instead siphons funds away from it.”

Nessel added: “Gambling regulations are in place for a reason, and when bad actors choose to ignore the law, they must be held accountable.”
