We Are Called

Season of Crea6on

The Season of CreaSon is the annual ChrisSan celebraSon to listen and respond together to the cry of CreaSon: the ecumenical family around the world unites to pray and protect our common home.

The Season “CelebraSon” begins 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of CreaSon, and ends 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.

During the Season of CreaSon, our common prayer and acSon can help us listen for the voices of those who are silenced. In prayer we lament the individuals, communiSes, species, and ecosystems who are lost, and those whose livelihoods are threatened by habitat loss and climate change.

The burning bush is the Symbol for the Season of CreaSon 2022. Today, the prevalence of unnatural fires are a sign of the devastaSng effects that climate change has on the most vulnerable of our planet. CreaSon cries out as forests crackle, animals flee, and people are forced to migrate due to the fires of injusSce.

On the contrary, the fire that called to Moses as he tended the flock on Mt. Horeb did not consume or destroy the bush. This flame of the Spirit revealed God’s presence. This holy fire affirmed that God heard the cries of all who suffered, and promised to be with us as we followed in faith to our deliverance from injusSce.

In this Season of CreaSon, this symbol of God’s Spirit calls us to listen to the voice of creaSon.

Communi6es

In Kindergarten, we have been learning about people who help us and the buildings in our community. We have discussed and read books about different jobs that people have and the types of buildings they would work in.

Ader looking at buildings in our community, the students chose a building to create using different mediums. They used the iPads, with assistance, to search for their chosen building.

They then had a go at wriSng the name of their building, with assistance, and they created a popsSck version of themselves to join the community.

Podcas6ng!

The Year 3 students have been busy learning about how to create their very own podcast. In our Technology lessons, they began by mixing and matching beats to create their intro music using GarageBand. The students are now in the middle of wriSng scripts to follow when recording their podcasts. The theme Ses into our HASS outcome, which is all about Australia’s neighbours. Stay tuned!

Healthy EaSng The Great Vegie Crunch!

The Great Vegetable Crunch is back for 2022.

On Wednesday 21 September, we will find out how loud our school can crunch!

Together, we are going to crunch on some fresh vegetables and see how our ‘crunchibels’ measure up to other schools in Australia. Come on Infant Jesus!

Alongside the Great Vegie Crunch will be a good old fashion vegetable colouring-in compeSSon. Look out for this during your next health class.

Why vegetables? Vegetables and fruit are both important food groups packed with a range of nutrients that promote good health. However, while most primary school children are doing a great job of eaSng enough fruit, only 1 in 16 are eaSng enough vegetables. That’s why it’s important for children to get an extra serve of vegetables during recess and lunch.

Benefits of eaSng vegetables - vegetables contain lots of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre which help promote healthy growth and development - Vegetables can be very cost effecSve. A serve of carrots or celery costs less than 30c!
