share and celebrate each child’s development and learning.
The aims of iShow, iExplain, iLearnt are: •To allow children to be confident, independent, responsible and accountable for their learning. • To help children develop a love of learning and begin to see themselves as life-long learners. • To help children build reflecSon and goal seing for their own learning. • For children to develop pride in their learning. • To encourage a wider range of child/parent communicaSon. • To support and further enhance parent communicaSon and parScipaSon in school. • To encourage communicaSon that focuses on learning and development.
During each iShow, iExplain, iLearnt session children, according to their level of development, proudly share their knowledge, progress and achievements with their parents through a variety of learning areas and tasks organised to provide addiSonal informaSon and an experience of daily learning in the classroom.
The iShow, iExplain, iLearnt session is a Sme to reflect and to celebrate the effort that all the children have applied to their work. It is also a Sme for the children to reflect and to share their knowledge and skills and how they conSnue to #ExpectGreatThings of themselves in all areas of learning.
iShow, iExplain, iLearnt is also a Sme to recognise all the teaching staff, teachers and educaSon assistants, who with great care, enthusiasm and experSse cater for the individual needs of every child. We thank them for their commitment and dedicaSon in supporSng our children to be flourishing life long learners. At Infant Jesus School, we provide a safe school environment where parents, teachers and students are working together to provide a supporSve and connected school culture.

All parents of children in the school are members of the P & F AssociaSon. This AssociaSon is a community-based group, which has the primary funcSon of supporSng, providing community gatherings and parent involvement in the school.
It is essenSal for parents and teachers to cooperate for the good of the child. By showing interest in the child’s acSviSes at school and by involving themselves in the school community parents will ensure that their child receives the full benefits of a ChrisSan educaSon.
It is important that parents support the school and ensure that their child is well prepared for each day. This support from the home helps fosters pride in the child, their family and in their school.
At Infant Jesus School, we believe in: • A culture of excellence as evidenced by high expectaSons and expressed through a shared vision. • Encouraging relaSonships of mutual respect with one another, by developing empathy and care. • Striving to develop skills to equip students with the necessary social eSqueje and expectaSons to navigate their world both digitally and physically. • A learning community that builds relaSonships and trust. • Developing and maintaining a healthy partnership between the home, parish and school. • Encouraging students of all ages to work alongside each other to form an Infant Jesus family and #ExpectGreatThings.

The i-Excel iniSaSve has conSnued to provide extra-curricula opportuniSes this year where students parScipate individually or as a team.
Year Six Students have parScipated individually in the Speak Up awards and students in Year Five in a Mandarin Oral Language presentaSons. Both opportuniSes provided students with the experience of sharing their talents with a wider audience. Thank you to Ms Fei Liu for all her help in preparing the children for this compeSSon.
Last weekend some Year Five and Year Six students parScipated in the MathemaScs team event ‘Have Sum Fun’. This very challenging compeSSon required the students to work collaboraSvely to solve extremely complex mathemaScal problems. PreparaSon for this event has required some ‘training’ that was coordinated by Mr Silla and Ms Carroll to help the students further develop their understanding of a range of strategies to effecSvely solve the mathemaScal problems. It was a fantasSc experience for our students to be part of an event where more than 25 schools were represented.

Social Media & Parents of Infant Jesus School

In signing the Enrolment ApplicaSon for Infant Jesus School all Parents/Guardians have agreed to abide by the procedures and direcSons of the school and the Catholic EducaSon Commission of Western Australia. This includes living out the Catholic Ethos of the school and supporSng a Christ-centred approach to all we do within our Infant Jesus School community. Within this signed agreement, Infant Jesus School expects Parents/Guardians to make responsible choices when using InformaSon and CommunicaSon Technologies at school. The guidelines outlined for Staff and Students equally apply to Parents / Guardians and the extended community.
Parents need to be aware that using emails to communicate with staff will not receive an instant reply. In fact, response Smes may vary. Urgent majers must be directed by phone to the school office. Specifically, and in addiSon to the guidelines for Staff and Students, Parents/Guardians need to adhere to the following.
As parents we need to: • Understand that correspondence during school Sme can only occur through the school office. Parents may not email children directly during school hours.

• Understand privacy laws pertaining to photography. At school or a school funcSon parents may take photographs of their children, but they may not take photographs of other children without the permission of the children’s parents. This permission needs to be in wriSng and presented to the school prior to the specific funcSon in quesSon. • Understand that privacy laws do not allow parents to comment on, or post photos of people/children of Infant Jesus School. • Understand that privacy laws restrict parents in their reference to Infant
Jesus School. All reference needs to uphold the Catholic Ethos of the
School. • Understand that any reference pertaining to Infant Jesus School may not be made on social network sites, email or other technology unless it is approved by the School and upholds the Ethos of the School and CEWA
Inc. • Understand that the digital footprint that is established the minute a person begins posSng items, messages or photographs on social network sites will be there forever. • Understand that the use of ‘Class Facebook Pages’ are only to be used to share informaSon pertaining to the class and not used as a vehicle to discuss individual concerns or general conversaSon. It is important that as parents we look at sharing the ‘Good News’ about our school.

Life-Long Learners
As Infant Jesus School is a double stream school we are very fortunate that we can provide the opportunity for classes to be reset each year. This annual process supports students to enhance their social and emoSonal skills to enable them to work successfully and cooperaSvely with all students in their year level.
Each year teachers put a great deal of thought into the development of new classes as it is exciSng to meet new and different people throughout our lives. As new classes are created each year it is our role as parents and teachers to support our children through change rather than protect them from it.
