From the Principal

Heavenly Father,

We pray for all the children who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirma;on. May your Holy Spirit help them to grow in faith, hope and love and may they come to know you as the one true God who loves them without limit. May their hearts welcome you gladly; May their ears hear your voice in the scriptures; May their eyes see you in all things; And may they proclaim your glory as they walk in the ways of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Amen

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our Week Eight newsleJer. I hope you had a lovely long weekend.

I would like to congratulate the Year Sixes for their enthusiasm and leadership on camp last week. It was wonderful to see them try new challenges and work together as a team. Although we were all >red by the end of camp, a great >me was had by all. Please keep our Year Sixes in your prayers this Saturday as they receive the Sacrament of Confirma>on.

In the last newsleJer it was noted that for safety reasons, students should not be at school prior to 8am. Gates will not be open prior to this >me. If you need to drop your child to school before 8am, we do offer the OSH Care which is open from 7am each morning.

I would like to thank the P&F team in advance for organising the Canteen recess days on the 14 and 17 June for our students. Please take note of the informa>on relevant to your child’s year level.

We have a number of upcoming events over the last three weeks of term. Our Year Two students have been busy preparing for their class assembly on the 20 June. All are welcome to join us at 8.50am. Our Year Six students will be aJending the Winter Carnival on the 20 June. We will be celebra>ng China Day on Friday 21 June, with some fun ac>vi>es planned.

Semester One reports for Pre Primary to Year Six will be available via SEQTA on Wednesday 26 June at 3pm. All parents are asked to check that they are able to log in to SEQTA via the link on the school website.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Year 3 & 5 Religious EducaPon Assessment

In Catholic schools across Western Australia, students enrolled in Years 3, 5 and 9 par>cipate in a systemwide, online assessment in Religious Educa>on. The administra>on of the assessment in 2024 commences Monday 29 July. Students following a regular classroom program are expected to par>cipate. Students with disability are en>tled to par>cipate. Exemp>ons may apply.

The purpose of the REA is to measure student learning of the mandated content in the Religious Educa>on Curriculum. Test items relevant to each par>cipa>ng year level are developed by the Religious Educa>on Directorate at the Catholic Educa>on Office of Western Australia. The test items consist of mul>ple choice, short and extended response. Students’ faith is not assessed.

Formal student and school reports are produced from the data generated from the REA. The reports are made available to schools in Term Four. The informa>on provided by the REA reports aims to complement school-based assessment programs in Religious Educa>on.

As a system-wide assessment, the REA informs teaching and assessment prac>ces in Religious Educa>on by providing classroom teachers, school and system leaders with a ‘point in >me’ snapshot of student achievement. Over >me, the REA also provides informa>on about student progress in Religious Educa>on.

Please contact your child’s teacher or me if you have any enquiries regarding the administra>on of the Religious Educa>on Assessment.

NaPonal Sorry Day

We embraced aboriginal culture by crea>ng art work in our art lesson to display in the classroom and reflect on the Stolen Genera>ons.

2024 Year Six Camp

Despite the persistent rain, the 2024 Year Six Camp at Woodman Point was an exci>ng and fun-filled experience. Our spirits remained high as we par>cipated in a variety of ac>vi>es, including archery, orienteering, team building, ul>mate sports, flying fox, and ver>cal climbing, just to name some. In Archery, Miss Warne-Trevor demonstrated Olympic level skills as all the students were super impressed with her highest score of the camp. Orienteering was team building, naviga>ng through the rain-soaked terrain, we discovered hidden checkpoints and how to work as a team-player. The Flying Fox was a hit with most camp-goers, as we saw some students really challenge themselves, zipping across the landscape, screams of joy echoed through the rain. Many students conquered the climbing wall, with each foothold bringing them closer to the top, and a feeling of real achievement. A hearnelt thank you goes out to all the teachers who dedicated their extra >me to prepare and aJend the camp. Their commitment ensured safety and enjoyment of the Year Six students and staff. Special recogni>on also goes to the student teachers who volunteered their >me, making our camp extra special. Despite the rain, our memories of Woodman Point will forever shine like the stars that our Year Six Leaders are. Well done everyone!

P&F and Community News

The P&F have had a busy semester and have appreciated the support for all our events.

We would like to thank all the families and the wider Infant Jesus Community for buying bricks to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Infant Jesus School.

The money we have raised this semester from the P&F events so far have given us the ability to donate $5000 to the Teachers Resource Wishlist. The following was purchased from our dona;on:

· Pre-Kindy: Classroom Role Play toys and outdoor scooters

· Pre-Primary: Headphones and whiteboards

· Year 2: 2 sets of drying racks

· Year 3: $1000 worth of readers

· Year 5 & 6: Furniture for the balcony.

We are eager to fundraise enough money to buy more resources from the Teachers Wishlist!
