Assistant Principal’s Corner

ReconciliaGon

On Monday 4 November and Thursday 7 November, the children in Year Three will receive the Sacrament of Penance (ReconciliaFon). This is a very significant Fme in their lives and in their faith journey. It is also a very important Fme for their families, their teachers, the school and the parish community.

The Sacrament of Penance, is a truly special and wonderful gi^ that the children, and everyone who has received this sacrament, now have the opportunity to parFcipate in as o^en as they like. Jesus showed us how to do this as he dealt with people who were part of his life. To elect to follow Christ means that we endeavour to replace “our hearts” with the “heart of Christ”. This enables us to forgive as Jesus did and does. We keep all our Year Three students in our prayers as they receive the Sacrament of Penance (ReconciliaFon) for the first Fme. We pray that they will choose to use ‘this gi^’ o^en.

We also recognise and thank Fr Greg and the Parish Team who coordinated the Sacraments of ReconciliaFon First Eucharist and ConfirmaFon this year. Fr Greg, Mrs Theresa Choo, Sacramental Coordinator and Mrs Sue Goodwin, and the Parish Team have been fantasFc to work with throughout the year. We are truly very fortunate that all the children and families are all so well supported in their faith journey.

Safe School Framework

Code of Conduct at Infant

Jesus School

A reminder that every member of the Infant Jesus School community must behave in the manner described in our Code of Conduct.

Our Code is like the 40km/h speed limit outside our school in the mornings and a^ernoons. It defines behaviours that keep our students safe: at school, and elsewhere. Children and young people surrounded by adult and peer behaviours described in the Code are more likely to recognise and choose healthy relaFonships for themselves.

We each keep our students safe by following our Code of Conduct and encouraging and reminding each other to do so. For Staff, our Code of Conduct is a lawful direcFon and forms part of their employment agreement and for parents, compliance is a condiFon of your entry to school premises.

There are twelve Conduct Statements in the Code of Conduct that everyone must adhere to. Specific informaFon and examples for each of the twelve statements have been included in previous newsleOers with further informaFon included throughout the year.

Conduct Statements

1. You act safely and competently.

2. You give priority to students’ safety and well-being in all your behaviour and decision making.

3. You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.

4. You conduct yourself in accordance with laws, agreements, policies and standards relevant to your relaFonship with the school community.

5. You respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of each member of the school community.

6. You treat personal informaFon about members of the school community as private and confidenFal.

7. You give imparFal, honest and accurate informaFon about the educaFon, safety and wellbeing of students.

8. You support all members of the school community in making informed decisions about students.

9. You promote and preserve the trust and privilege inherent in your relaFonship with all members of the school community.

10. You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.

11. You act reflecFvely and ethically.

12. You allow students to have a voice in their educaFon, safety and well-being.

Year One

Money Magic

In Year One, we’ve been having an exciFng adventure learning all about money! The children have been busy becoming “coin detecFves,” spohng what’s on each coin and figuring out how to order them by size and value. They’ve been amazed at what they’ve discovered, from shiny 5-cent coins to larger ones like the 50-cent piece. Adding coins together has turned into a fun challenge, with everyone eager to see how many different ways they can make up the same amount!

To make our money lessons extra fun, we’ve played some awesome games! Our class shop was a huge hit, where everyone got to be a shopkeeper or a customer, pracFsing buying and selling with their pretend coins. We also went on a thrilling money hunt, searching for hidden coins and solving coin puzzles. With plenty of hands-on play using coin manipulaFves, the children are now money whizzes!

ReciGng the Rosary in October

October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary in the Catholic Church, a tradiFon that helps deepen our faith through meditaFon on the life of Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. This month, our Year 6 students and several other classes have been acFvely praying the Rosary, reflecFng on the Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious Mysteries.

• Joyful Mysteries: Reflect on the early life of Jesus.

• Sorrowful Mysteries: Focus on the Passion of Christ.

• Luminous Mysteries: Highlight the public ministry of Jesus.

• Glorious Mysteries: Celebrate the ResurrecFon and eternal life.

This pracFce not only enriches their spiritual lives, but also strengthens our faith community. Let us all be inspired to incorporate the Rosary into our daily rouFnes this October.

FACTION COLOURS

We held our first FacFon Colours event in Week 1, before the AthleFcs Carnival and what fun it was! The children came down to the oval and had their faces painted and hair sprayed. It was a great opportunity to boost their team spirit and create some excitement for the day. Thank you to the volunteers who came and helped in the morning. Your help is very much appreciated and ensured the morning ran quickly and smoothly so the children (and us) could make it to the oval in Fme for the carnival.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY!

On Friday 25th October it is World Teachers’ Day. We recognise and appreciate all the hard work the teachers put into planning, preparing and delivering experiences that engage, support and further develop all aspects of our children. We also appreciate the many ways in which they connect with our children to help them become the best versions of themselves. Teachers, your dedicaFon and passion for teaching our children makes a significant impact on their lives. Thank you!

CAN YOU HELP?

We are looking for a graphic designer and/or printer who can help us with a possible fundraising project for 2025. If you can help, or know someone who can help, please send an email to president.pafc@gmail.com for more informaFon.
