President’s Report

The last 12 months have been very demanding having to deal with COVID. Hopefully we are returning to some normality with restrictions easing. On behalf of the Governing Council, I would like to thank all our members for complying with the restrictions especially those that gave up their time to be Marshalls.

The elections are coming with the President’s position vacant and most of the Governing Council members not renominating for a further term. All elected and appointed positions will be open for nominations. To nominate or vote in the upcoming elections you must be a financial full member or recreational member. We really need everyone to take an active interest and consider nominating for one of the positions. The new synthetic green is still progressing although there have been a few problems which have prevented the Governing Council signing the agreement for work to start. The main hurdle is the amount the Club needs to contribute to the project. The original contribution amount, advised by the City of Joondalup in December 2020, was $154,600 plus GST.

At that time members agreed in principle to proceed. There has however been a 14 month delay from approval to proceed, with tenders only being provided by the City of Joondalup in March 2022. Increases in building materials and labour costs during that period increased the contribution required by our Club to $320,000 plus GST.
