Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College - AME College in Delhi The IIA group's AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College) curriculum is now in compliance with CAR-147(BASIC). The institute has received approval from the DGCA Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for AME licence categories B1.1 and B2, which cover heavy aircraft and turbine engines (Mechanical stream) and aircraft electrical instrumentation and aircraft communication and navigation systems, respectively (Avionics stream).

To obtain an AME B1.1 or B2 licence, a DGCA-approved training program that is CAR 147 (basic) compliant and lasts two years must be completed. During these two years of academic study, you will receive 2400 hours of theoretical and practical learning, as well as 360 hours of practical on-the-job training on any CAR 145 recognised flying organisation.

By obtaining an AME B1.1 or B2 licence, the holder of these licences is authorised to: ● ●

Minor Inspection (Line Maintenance) Maintenance and repair (major maintenance) of various parts of an aircraft.

Two parts make up the four-year program: ● ●

Approved Academic Courses under CAR-147 (Basic): 2 Years 2 years of practical maintenance experience on a flying aircraft is required.

Educational Programs Sanctioned Under CAR-147 (Basic) A total of 2400 hours of theoretical and practical teaching are spread over the two-year academic programmes for the B1.1 and B2 streams. The 2400 hours of training will be broken down into 960 hours of practical training and 1440 hours of classroom instruction.

Out of 960 hours of practical teaching, 360 hours will be spent on practical training with an AMO (Aircraft Maintenance Organization). In order to do this, the IIA group has entered into a long-term contract with M/S SAURYA AERONAUTICS PVT.LTD., New Delhi, to supply all of the practical aviation training needed for the CAR-147(Basic) programme.

The mechanical stream of the AME-147(basic) curriculum deals with the structure, airframe, and engine system of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering College.

A person must finish at least two years of academic training in a variety of aircraft types in order to become an AME in the mechanical stream.

Heavy aircraft with turbine or piston engines (A1 & B1.1); Heavy aircraft with piston engines (A2 & B1.2); Helicopters with turbine or piston engines (A3 & B1.3); Piston-powered aircraft below 2000 kg (B3 category) Each of the aforementioned types of aircraft has a unique range of specialisations, which are often covered by unique regulations for licensing.
