Caesarstone reshapes pricing structure for UK & ROI partners

Product portfolio expands at the same time with promise of ‘more to come’

Caesarstone has announced significant changes to its pricing model to support its fabricator partners which will come into effect from April.

Class leading mineral and crystalline silicafree products will be available across six price groups: Essentials 0, 1 & 2, and Premium 3, 4 & 5.

Alongside this, the company continues to drive innovation with a new colour addition to its portfolio, ensuring that its range remains at the forefront of design trends while providing greater accessibility and value.

The new Essentials Range is designed to have broad market appeal at the most competitive pricing for any Caesarstone product. Far from being a collection of plain basics, the range includes best sellers, as well as brand-new Calacatta designs.

Additionally, Caesarstone is extending its 30+ slab bulk buy rate, previously reserved for the commercial fabrication market, to all sectors,

including retail and direct-to-consumer.

Further enriching its UK and ROI portfolio, Caesarstone will be introducing a new, striking Calacatta-inspired design – 5115 Calacatta Stillstorm. Part of the Essentials Group 2, 5115 Calacatta Stillstorm delivers the ever-popular white marble aesthetic in a jumbo slab at an exceptionally competitive price.

Within the new price groups, Caesarstone has moved several highly sought-after designs from PG Premium 4 down to PG Premium 3, representing a 17 per cent reduction in price compared to the last quarter.

For clarification on how these changes affect individual businesses, dedicated account managers are available to provide guidance and support.

EDWARD SMITH, MD at Caesarstone UK & ROI, said, ‘Caesarstone is committed to supplying the UK & ROI market with the best quality products at the best possible prices, striking the right balance of design, performance and service, with price points that deliver real value for money.’

‘This wholesale change to our pricing structure illustrates how important it is to us to support our trade partners. The new product launches happening around it illustrate that Caesarstone remains the forefront of premium surface design.’

Financial savings main driver of water conservation for consumers

The GROHE Water Insights study highlights that Europeans underestimate personal water consumption

The results of the latest GROHE Water Insights study reveal that whilst Europeans hold a strong awareness of water scarcity, over three quarters of respondents significantly underestimated their daily water usage.

The average European consumes 144 litres of water daily but 22 per cent of survey respondents believe their consumption is fewer than 10 litres.

While the majority of Europeans value water conservation in the household, more than a third have not yet installed water-saving devices listing perceived high cost as the main barrier followed by lack of information and interest.

The primary motivation for water conservation among Europeans is financial savings, surpassing generational or societal motivations such as safeguarding water resources for future generations (23 per cent) and protecting the environment (23 per cent).

enhanced value and build stronger relationships with their clients.

Increased Operational Efficiency: The framework encourages a process-oriented approach, helping Uform to streamline operations. This efficiency not only boosts productivity but also reduces waste and operational costs.

Global Recognition: ISO 9001 certification is recognised worldwide. By attaining this standard, Uform demonstrates its global competitiveness and commitment to quality, opening new opportunities for collaboration and growth.

ArtiCAD partners with Interior Door Systems

Users of ArtiCAD’s design and pricing software now have access to IDS’ bespoke storage solutions and fitted furniture

ArtiCAD has recently welcomed Interior Door Systems (IDS) to its Supplier Partnership Programme enabling its customers to integrate IDS’ products seamlessly into their designs.

With many of IDS’ customers already using ArtiCAD’s software, the newly available catalogue allows them to specify their range of innovative solutions, seamlessly.

STEVE HEALY, Commercial Director at IDS Ltd said, ‘We’ve worked with ArtiCAD previously and we have always found their service excellent. Working with ArtiCAD has been a seamless experience - from the initial contact through to the launch of the catalogue. Their marketing support has been imperative in ensuring the success of our partnership.

Our partnership with ArtiCAD is fundamental to our success in the market as it allows us to offer our products to a significant segment of the KBB industry – which would not be possible without the power of the CAD capabilities that ArtiCAD provides. We are very impressed with the presentation of our products. ArtiCAD is widely regarded as a leader in CAD technology within the

UK market and their software has effectively showcased our range.’

IDS first engaged with ArtiCAD on a project back in 2014, but has now officially joined the Supplier Partnership Programme, making a selection of their products available as a free-ofcharge catalogue to ArtiCAD’s users.

Approximately 70 per cent of IDS’ current offering is available to download from ArtiCAD’s Member Portal with plans in place to incorporate remaining products in future months including the latest sliding wardrobe ranges and new foil colours.

Their (IDS’) catalogue is a welcome addition to our everexpanding supplier catalogue offering - all free of charge to download from the ArtiCAD Members Portal. The team at IDS have been a pleasure to work with, and we can’t wait to support their continued development.’

Younger employees bear the brunt of workrelated stress

Younger employees are disproportionately experiencing stress and burnout at work, new research from Avilio has found

An independent survey of 1,284 workers found that 42 per cent of employees aged 18-34 have experienced burnout in the past 12 months.

The number of younger employees experiencing strain in the workplace is over 20 per cent higher than for those age 55 and over. Moreover, a third of those aged 18 to 34 have taken time off from work due to stress, significantly more than the fifth of those aged 35 to 54.

A reason for this could be that those within the 18 – 34 age category are experiencing ‘drastic change and major milestones in both their professional and personal lives,’ says PHILIPPE MASSON, CEO of Avilio

Signs of stress are also more prominent in management positions as 62 per cent of managers aged 18 to 34 say they regularly work beyond their contracted hours, in contrast to 56 per cent of those aged 35 to 54 and less than half of those 55 and over.

Phillippe adds, ‘Employers must step up and strengthen their support systems. Indeed, a healthy and thriving workforce can’t be built on good intentions alone. To protect wellbeing and productivity, businesses must go beyond surface-level initiatives and implement practical, evidence-based solutions.

‘Ensuring any policies in place actually promote work-life balance, provide mental health support, and address the unique challenges of younger workers is essential. Businesses shouldn’t shy away from this, as it will dramatically improve their staff’s wellbeing and, ultimately, their productivity.’

Waterline appoints new Contract Sales Manager

The UK’s largest kitchen furniture, appliance, sinks, taps and ancillary kitchen products supplier to independent retailers, has appointed DANIEL FINDLAY as its new Contract Sales Manager

Daniel has a wealth of experience, which he brings to his new role at Waterline, having worked in the KBB sector for nearly 30 years. In 1996 he joined Howdens, where he spent the majority of his career, during which time he managed seven depots.

He specialises in business development within the trade and contract market and understands the requirements of housebuilders, having project managed the supply and fit of kitchens for numerous developments. An experienced manager, Daniel is proficient in CAD design, sales, marketing and business development and prides himself on being customer focussed.

In his new role, Daniel will work closely with, and be the main point of contact for, developers and contractors. He will focus heavily on building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers as he looks to help Waterline grow its share of the contract market.

MICHAEL MARRIOT, CEO of Waterline Distribution, said, ‘We’re thrilled to welcome Daniel to our growing Waterline team. His focus on customer service makes him a great addition and I’m looking forward to seeing him utilise his experience to push the contract arm of the business even further forward.’

Winner software introduces new cabinet feature

The all-in-one solution helps designers craft spaces that meet their client’s needs

Cyncly has introduced a new feature to its Winner Flex software that enables users to now depict the internals of cabinets, providing enhanced visibility and insight during the design phase.

By visualising the internals, designers can better assess storage options, organisation, and accessibility, leading to more efficient and innovative designs.

In Winner Flex, designers can easily display interior cabinetry symbols for the units in the elevation view. For select catalogues, the

BORA named Best Brand of the Year 2025

Kitchen manufacturer wins two awards

Appliance manufacturer BORA has received a Plus X Award for Best Brand of the Year 2025 in the cooktop extractor category.

The independent jury highlighted BORA’s use of innovative technologies to make its products both functional and aesthetically pleasing, in particular noting the brand’s ‘forward thinking vision’.

At the same time, BORA’s stand presentation at EuroCucina 2024 was recently honoured with the German Design Award in the ‘Excellent Architecture’ category and praised for its harmonious combination of architecture, nature and the cooking experience.

‘We scrutinise the status quo, present our products in a completely new way and combine design, innovation and functionality to create a

feature allows users to open the cabinet and reveal its contents, which can be viewed in both perspective and elevation formats.

‘We’re thrilled to introduce this new feature in Winner, empowering designers to enhance their workflow and create even more personalised kitchen designs,’ said

ALEXANDER AINGE, Senior Sales Director at Cyncly. ‘By allowing designers to view and manipulate cabinet interiors, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing innovative solutions that streamline the design process.’

genuine brand experience,’ says BORA Chief Marketing Officer DOMINIK CLEVER. ‘The awards show that this approach not only attracts attention but also inspires. A BORA trade fair concept is not just a stand - it is a stage for the kitchen of the future. Our brand strategy is no coincidence, but the result of a consistently thought-out, holistic experience. These awards are confirmation that we are on the right track, but for us they are just the beginning.’

Egger: Sustainable at its Core

IKTG talks building a sustainable brand with EGGER’s Jonny Donnelly, National Sales Manager UK and Ireland (Decorative Products) and Séamas Tumelty, Regional Account Manager Ireland (Building and Flooring products)

In the time since IKTG last caught up with Jonny Donnelly, wood-based material manufacturer, EGGER, has increased its market share in Ireland, adding new collections and colleagues along the way.

EGGER, which was founded in 1961 in Tyrol, Austria, has remained a family-owned and family-run business despite its presence in 22 countries worldwide. Having created 11,000 jobs globally, the team in Ireland has grown to five in the last few years representing a buoyant Irish market.

‘We may not seem like a huge team but between us we are able to service every corner of Ireland,’ explains Séamas. ‘The five of us work collaboratively to really find the best solutions for our customers.’

‘Over the last 30 years there has been a lot of work done to strengthen the trade in Ireland, and we have relationships with nearly all the key players in the industry,’ says Jonny.

‘Northern Ireland is in a particularly good position where they can trade with both

markets. There is growth potential in Ireland but ultimately it is the relationships with our customers that we pride ourselves on, and this is why EGGER has been so successful in Ireland in the past.’

BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE

Very few businesses can lay claim to being sustainable in the sixties, but EGGER, which started out using sawmill by-products, has been living that reality for decades.

‘Sustainability is not just a buzz word anymore; people have to live it, and it is a part of everyone’s fabric now,’ says Séamas. ‘What is amazing about EGGER is that it has been sustainable since before we even had the language to describe it, so being environmentally conscious is something that has grown with us over the years and has only improved as time has gone on.’

In 2023, EGGER opened a new recycling plant in Hexham, England which represented a £15m investment by the company, enabling it

to process even more recycled wood that can be re-used in its production of chipboard.

‘Although based in the UK, the investment into recycling is relevant to the Irish market as it has enabled us to create a full circular economy whereby our end products can be recycled,’ says Jonny.

‘We need to very clear about the message that we are putting out there,’ he says. ‘We are constantly challenging ourselves to do better, and that is down to the EGGER name.’

THE LATEST IN FLOORING TECHNOLOGY

To mark the beginning of 2025, EGGER launched a brand-new flooring collection that effortlessly combines the latest manufacturing technology and on-trend finishes maximising durability and style.

‘The team has done a fantastic job in

JONNY DONNELLY
SÉAMAS TUMELTY
RECYCLING AT EGGER HEXHAM

mapping out a collection that not only matches the products within our decorative collection, but represents the latest trends,’ says Séamas. ‘EGGER’s last flooring launch was in 2021, so this is something that has been perfected over a period of time.’

Within the collection is EGGER’s laminate offering, NatureSense, which provides a realistic wood appearance and an innovative water resistant variant.

While water resistant products are not new to the market, EGGER’s modern wood-based hybrid flooring AquaDura takes the technology to the next level. Not only does it protect the floor from water penetration, but it also contains no PVC or plasticisers, and has an integrated sound barrier for better acoustics.

Séamas explains, ‘AquaDura builds on our ethos “more from wood” and when creating the concept, we considered how the product will fit into the end user’s environment and what we can do to enrich their space.’

‘When you are competing in a space against LVT and PVC products it is important that people know that there are non-plastic flooring options available on the market which are not only an attractive choice but can even outperform their plastic counterparts,’ adds Jonny.

COHESIVE COLLECTIONS

One of EGGER’s benefits is that it offers a range of matching decors across its decorative and flooring collections allowing for continuation of style throughout the home.

Realistic woodgrain decors are proving popular for 2025 and one of EGGER’s best examples is its Casella Oak range which comes in a naturally elegant floret pattern allowing for many modern colour combinations.

‘This has proven extremely successful as a design piece with manufacturers fabricators who are making their own doors,’ says Jonny.

‘For the first time the technology is there to allow us to take a virgin piece of timber, scan it and replicate it to an unbelievable realistic standard.’

Over the last 30 years there has been a lot of work done to strengthen the trade in Ireland, and we have relationships with nearly all the key players in the industry, says Jonny.

Another example of the kind of innovative manufacturing from EGGER is its fully recyclable matt surface collection; TM9.

Jonny explains, ‘MDF is huge in Ireland, especially when it comes to matt finishes, but it cannot be recycled, which is why we invested heavily in developing a lacquered chipboard that can be 100% recycled. The TM9 collection enables us to go to market with a product that consumers want, is fully recyclable and a fraction of the cost.’

LOOKING AHEAD

EGGER’s Decorative Collection will be refreshed in 2026, and Jonny tells us it will bring new on-trend styles and unique colours to the market. ‘There will be a greater focus on warm colours next year’, he says. ‘We are looking forward to providing a first glimpse of new products, decors, and services at Interzum in May.

‘In the meantime, I would encourage anyone who has questions about availability or accessing EGGER products to get in touch with Séamas or myself directly,’ says Jonny.

‘Contact us via the details listed below or via our LinkedIn profiles; we are always happy to have a chat with potential customers and work out the best solution for them. Nurturing and developing relationships is a vital part of what we do at EGGER, and we are an open book when it comes to product support.’

New EU regulations posing challenges for NI businesses

More work needed on the Windsor Framework for local business to harvest benefit says FSB’s Graeme Weir

With so many big global stories dominating the news headlines, sometimes it is easy to forget the many issues affecting businesses in Northern Ireland. Significant work continues behind the scenes to ensure smoother operation of the Windsor Framework. Businesses across Northern Ireland are eager to maximise opportunities, but much remains to be done if we are to secure the benefits of ‘dual market access.’

In principle, dual market access is a significant asset for Northern Ireland businesses, allowing them to trade goods seamlessly within both the UK Internal Market and EU Single Market, reaching a vast consumer base of half a billion people. Unlike their counterparts in Great Britain or even the EU, Northern Ireland businesses are positioned to benefit from reduced trade barriers. However, since the Windsor Framework was introduced, many new or revised EU regulations have come into force in Northern Ireland, posing challenges for businesses.

When the UK was an EU member, policymakers had early visibility of impending regulations, allowing for careful scrutiny, understanding and adaptation. Now, however, the vast majority receive only retrospective and often superficial review. Experience shows that this light-touch approach can lead to unintended consequences, creating further uncertainty for businesses, which is why the Federation of Small Businesses is calling for the UK Government to establish a dedicated unit to provide early insight into proposed regulatory changes in key trading markets, enabling effective horizon-scanning, consultation, and mitigation efforts before new rules are adopted.

Recently, FSB met with Ciara Ferguson MLA, the new chair of Stormont’s Windsor Framework Democratic Scrutiny Committee, and deputy chair David Brooks MLA, in a valuable engagement to discuss potential solutions to regulatory challenges.

FSB has also been sharing concerns about the nature of regulatory scrutiny with key figures in Westminster. The Northern Ireland Affairs Committee is currently conducting an inquiry into the Windsor Framework’s operation, while the newly established House of Lords Northern Ireland Scrutiny Committee aims to

clarify how the Framework affects businesses and the public and will also examine its broader impact on Northern Ireland’s economy. FSB remains committed to making representations to political representatives and relevant committees to ensure policymakers are wellinformed.

When the House of Lords Sub-Committee launched an inquiry in 2023 into ‘Regulatory Divergence and the Windsor Framework,’ FSB urged the UK Government to resource the Office of the Internal Market (OIM) to take on this scrutiny role. This message was reiterated in recent submissions to Westminster’s Northern Ireland Affairs Committee and in discussions with Stormont’s Windsor Framework Democratic Scrutiny Committee. Regulatory divergence is an ongoing challenge; as regulations evolve, businesses need timely guidance to navigate the landscape. FSB continues to call on the UK Government to step up to ensure businesses fully understand and capitalise on dual-market access. If properly managed, Northern Ireland could become a vital trade gateway between the UK and the EU.

Policymakers must recognise that divergence is not a temporary hurdle but an ongoing reality. Relying on under-resourced government

departments is not sufficient. Businesses need a proactive, well-equipped body to anticipate regulatory shifts, interpret implications, and provide timely advice. This will enable businesses to take full advantage of Northern Ireland’s unique trading position rather than being held back by uncertainty.

As the Windsor Framework evolves, knowledge and preparedness will be key. Ensuring businesses have early access to accurate regulatory information will allow them to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and maximise opportunities. FSB remains committed to advocating for these measures, working with policymakers to help businesses in Northern Ireland thrive in this complex yet potentially advantageous trading environment.

For any advice on employment, FSB members receive 24/7 legal advice through our helpline contact fsbni@fsb.org.uk for more information on this and the forthcoming proposals.

A Path to Silica-Free Stone

JONATHAN STANLEY

CAESARSTONE

WHAT PROMPTED CAESARSTONE’S SHIFT TO ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS?

Since Caesarstone’s inception almost 40 years ago, we have been committed to innovation and we have always had a strong R&D division that continuously seeks ways to drive the market forward. Having pioneered the quartz market in 1987, our first step into alternative materials came in 2020 with the acquisition of a porcelain plant in India. Since then, we have expanded into low-silica stones, quickly adapting our manufacturing processes in response to global demands. Today, we have a presence in multiple product categories, including quartz, low-silica, crystalline silicafree and porcelain materials.

We are on a path toward a completely crystalline silica-free product portfolio, and these products deliver a safer crystalline silicafree blend, increased sustainability with the inclusion of recycled materials and up to 80 per cent recycled glass. They also allow us greater design flexibility, bringing more depth and translucency to our product range.

WHAT ARE THE DRAWBACKS OF STONES CONTAINING SILICA?

Silicosis is an occupational disease caused by exposure to silica dust, which can result from cutting natural stone, as well as quartz and other engineered stones. However, all of these materials can be processed safely when all necessary precautions are taken.

In 2024, Australia banned the use of engineered stone. Caesarstone had already developed to low silica materials, but in a further move, we swiftly transitioned our lowsilica quartz materials into zero-silica stones to continue serving that market and have taken the decision to roll our silica-free products out globally.

DO YOU BELIEVE MORE COUNTRIES WILL MOVE TOWARD BANNING ENGINEERED STONE?

A complete ban is unlikely in regions like the UK and Ireland, where fabrication standards

are regarded by trade body, the Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF), as being better than those in other markets. They acknowledge that banning engineered quartz does not remove the risk of respirable crystalline silica, as many natural stone materials contain high proportions of it.

Good quality factory management, waterbased dust-suppression and proper monitoring of workers’ health are still absolutely de rigeur in a well-run worktop factory, immaterial of the precise material under the saw. Therefore, this market will likely see us addressing the issue at the source. Rather than banning these materials, efforts will focus on ensuring that fabricators – whether working with natural or engineered stone – follow best practices for safe processing. The WFF believes that engineered stone can be handled safely if the correct measures are in place.

HOW

materials, including what raw ingredients are being used in the products they are purchasing. I would go as far to say that even some people operating within the kitchen and bathroom sectors aren’t wholly up to speed.

This is why at Caesarstone, we provide free fabrication training, known an ‘Masters of Stone’, for stonemasons and fabricators, whether or not they are our customers. We educate them on quartz, silica-free stones, and porcelain, offering unbiased insights into the benefits of each material and not promoting one over the other. This is available to our partners in the kitchen and bathroom sector too.

STONE?

INFORMED IS THE INDUSTRY ABOUT THE ISSUES SURROUNDING QUARTZ AND ENGINEERED

Many end consumers are largely unaware of the stone market and the differences between

A major concern is the perception that all stones are of the same standard and quality. In reality, there are a lot of products on the market that have been imported and no one really knows what is in them, how they were made and where they came from. By educating industry professionals, we empower them to pass this knowledge on to consumers, enabling informed decision-making. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to choose which materials to use in their home, but once they have all the relevant information, they tend to seek out

brands that are tested, certified, and welldesigned.

WHAT TRAINING IS AVAILABLE IN IRELAND?

Caesarstone has a dedicated team in Ireland that offers hands-on training sessions for stonemasons. We also provide online training modules for fabricators. Many of our Irish fabrication partners have already completed training with us, and later this year, we plan to collaborate with the Worktop Fabricators Federation (WFF) to promote the trade association in the Irish market.

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO BE PROACTIVE RATHER THAN REACTIVE IN SUSTAINABILITY?

When it comes to the environmental piece it is a journey for us all. No company can claim to have done everything possible, but each year, we strive to improve our processes and find a better way of doing things across our company. We evaluate every step, from sourcing raw materials to production methods, and waste management.

Every Caesarstone worktop comes with a lifetime warranty, which can even be transferred to a new homeowner if the house is sold. This commitment to durability helps reduce waste and supports a more sustainable long-term approach to design.

WHAT ARE CAESARSTONE’S STANDOUT PRODUCTS?

Many of Caesarstone’s designs are classically timeless – crafted with lasting style, as well as quaility, and we design for longevity in every sense, rather than follow short-lived trends. A real Rockstar product for us is Statuario Maximus, which is a feathered dove-white base with broad, light-grey veins in a clouded mist like swirl. It has been a perennial best seller and everyone that comes into our showroom is drawn to it.

When we do trend research, we focus on long-term predictions rather than seasonal colour trends. As early as 2017, we identified a growing desire for more tactile surfaces in kitchens. In response, we launched Rugged Concrete, a visually and texturally distinctive, low silica, mineral surface that remains

unmatched in the market.

WHAT WILL THE STONE MARKET LOOK LIKE IN 10 YEARS?

I believe organic-looking stones will likely continue to be popular as it seems the more technology becomes integrated into our homes, the more people seek out natural finishes, textures, and tactile materials to create a sense of balance.

As living spaces expand to encompass kitchen, dining, and social areas, we see greater use of stone throughout the home – in fireplaces, media walls, and even spa-inspired bathrooms. Large-format stone tiles for walls and floors are poised to grow in popularity because they are visually appealing, practical, easy to clean, hygienic, and super hardwearing.

INTRODUCING MODULA FROM FLANAGAN FITTINGS

As business has grown in recent years it was important to Flanagan Fittings to focus on improving certain areas of the company while making additional plans for the future.

The furniture fittings company have recently installed 2 Modula vertical lift machines in their warehouse in St Margarets, Co Dublin.

Modula is an automated storage and retrieval system used to optimise space and improve warehouse management. The Modula simulates the movement of a lift. The operator uses the Copilot to call the goods to be picked up, the Modula knows which tray to find the various items in and delivers those trays directly to the bay, ready for pick-up. The visual aid ensures that the right item is picked every time, significantly reducing the chance of errors. This creative approach streamlines warehouse operations, speeds up picking times and enhances worker safety.

The first modular is 11.3 meters tall, with 61 trays that are each 4.3 meters wide and have a 750 kg capacity, for a total weight capacity of 45 tonnes. Standing at a height of 12.3 meters, the second modular has 90 trays, each measuring 4.3 meters in width and holding 500 kg, for a total weight capacity of 45 tonnes. Following the removal of the previous mezzanine and the installation of the two modular lifts, an additional 500 pallet spaces were also obtained.

‘We purchased the tallest Modula models on the market because we wanted to fully utilise the floor space and height of our warehouse,’ says Paul Flanagan CEO of Flanagan Fittings. ‘Consequently, we now have the two biggest Modula vertical lift machines in the country. As a result of the success of the Modula system in our warehouse, a third machine is being installed this month.’

The latest launches from the industry

Bertazzoni UK unveils its 2025 product range

The inaugural launches for this year include two freestanding fridge freezers and built-in coffee machine, slimline dishwasher, and metallic induction hob trims

Launched within the Modern Series, the sleek and striking bottom mount fridge freezers are Bertazzoni’s first ever cooling line without a stainless steel finish.

Available in 60cm and 70cm widths (RBM60F5FBNC and RBM70F4FBNC), the refined freestanding models come complete with the delectable stye, quality and modern technology you’d expect from Bertazzoni, including PureBreeze UV which eliminates 99.99 per cent of bacteria and viruses with UV-C LED rays, LED user interface and ice maker.

In addition to coordinating with existing Bertazzoni Modern Series lines, the fridge freezer matches the built-in black glass series, which is now completed with the coffee machine. Controlled by a TFT full touch display, the appliance has an integrated coffee grinder for bean to cup lovers, a milk frother and hot water dispenser. It is also capable of preparing two coffees simultaneously.

In another first, Bertazzoni has released a new slimline (45cm) built-in dishwasher (DW45S3IEPDC). Boasting all the same design credentials as it’s standard width counterparts, the model has a status light for quick and easy operation detection, a full touch user interface and triple-rack rack configuration.

Last but not least – a main attraction from

EuroCucina 2024 is now available – induction hob trims. Enabling subtle but effective conformity with a colour scheme, Bertazzoni’s gold, carbon and stainless steel trims will add a touch of elegance to an induction cooktop, suiting all dimensions (60cm, 75cm, 80cm and 90cm).

PAUL WHYTE, commercial director at Bertazzoni UK Ltd, said, ‘Minimalist and customisation are two trends we’ve predicted for 2025, supporting consumers’ drive and commitment to express themselves.

‘Allowing minimalists the opportunity to make a striking statement, these new built-in and freestanding products will set the tone for what’s to come this year – with plenty of product revamps and reveals in the pipeline.

‘Naysayers believe that product interiors don’t matter, but our latest dishwasher and fridge freezer are an absolute testament to the

contrary, complete with plenty of panache, functionality and small but major details that make Bertazzoni the premium brand for today’s modern kitchen.’ uk.bertazzoni.com

Every issue IKTG catches up with a key member of the trade to find out how they came to be in the position they are

JORDAN PRICE

OWNER,

STUDIO 84

TELL US ABOUT THE COMPANY

My wife and I, who are both experienced designers, set up Studio 84 during the second COVID lockdown to bring more designcentric furniture to the market. I’ve been in kitchens since I was 18, and come from a family background in the industry, whereas Roseann is an accomplished textile designer. We wanted a design-led studio focused on furniture we genuinely love. Fortunately for us, there are enough clients who appreciate the same style so the business has grown from there! We just celebrated our fourth year in business, and we’re excited to be opening our new studio later this year.

HOW DID YOU COME TO BE IN YOUR CURRENT POSITION?

I grew up around the kitchen industry, my dad’s been in it for years. From my early teens, I was helping with plans and working in the workshop in my spare time. I didn’t go to college for design; it was all hands-on learning before computers were involved and I gained valuable experience with a more practical approach.

HOW HAS THE COMPANY EVOLVED OVER THE YEARS?

We started small, just the two of us working out of a small workshop at the back of our house. In year two, we experimented with outsourcing production, but it didn’t suit us. We’ve since moved into a larger workshop and partnered with another company to scale up. Now, we’re opening a more interior-focused studio in Rostrevor.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

When you run a design business no day is the same. It can incorporate client consultations, site visits, and rep meetings, as well as all the behind the scenes work. Some days are exciting – for example, recently we were down in West

Meath working on an upcoming feature for The Great House Revival – but others involve the less glamorous side like bookkeeping. As a small team, we wear a lot of hats but are gradually outsourcing where we can.

WHO HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER?

Two people I’ve always looked up to in the industry are Mark Wilkinson and Clive Christian.

Also, my dad, for his resilience in business and his continued success in a somewhat challenging industry.

WHAT SORT OF SKILLS DOES IT TAKE TO BE IN THE KITCHEN INDUSTRY?

It depends on your role, but across the board you need a technical mindset whether you are

installing, designing, or in the workshop. A sense of creativity and resilience goes a long way but if you are passionate about what you do, you’ll go far. There is also an element of being open to feedback and being able to take criticism on the chin.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN THE INDUSTRY?

If you’re passionate about it, go for it. Everything else can be learned. Be open, stay curious, and never stop learning. People in the industry are usually happy to share their knowledge if you ask. If you are creative and you know that you want to do it, don’t let anything hold you back.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR THE COMPANY?

We’ve got some exciting things ahead, including a project on The Great House Revival which is due to be installed in the autumn. The most exciting thing happening this year is the launch of our new studio in Rostrevor this May. The new space will showcase more than just kitchens, it’ll reflect our wider approach to interiors.
