We are The Ihara Team, an award-winning real estate team since 2005. We are recognized by Hawaii Business Magazine as one of Hawaii’s Top 100 Realtor and awarded the Hall of Fame 13 years in a row. Dan and Julie also launched the Real Estate Planner community in KW which trains and certifies agents on generational wealth building, minimizing taxes and helping families make comprehensive plans and strategies around their real estate assets.
DAN’S BACKGROUND
Dan was born in Honolulu at Tripler Army Medical Center to Les and Shirley Ihara. As the youngest of six children he worked hard to keep up with his siblings. Father, retired U.S. Army Colonel Les S. Ihara, took the family around the country, and even to Korea. Dan was forced to adapt to new environments and cultures while learning to work with a variety of people and situations.
Prior to real estate Dan was the Vice President of Marketing for a Global Manufacturing Company. He was responsible for sales in Hawaii, Florida, Canada, Asia, South Pacific and Caribbean. Prior to that Dan worked for 8 years at Servco Pacific Inc., in the Automotive Division as Assistant Vice President of Promotions & Marketing and later held various Sales Management positions. Dan fine-tuned his customer service, sales and negotiating skills in the car industry as a New Car Sales Manager, Used Car Sales Manager and Finance Manager.
From his disciplined upbringing as a Colonel’s son as well as Co-Founding many thriving businesses, Dan learned that success comes only from hard work, persistence and tenacity. Core values of honesty, integrity and serving others were instilled in him at a very early age from his parents and 5 other siblings.
JULIE’S BACKGROUND
Julie was born and raised in Honolulu to Tom and Grace Fukunaga. Father, Tom Fukunaga worked hard for many years building the family business – Servco Pacific, Inc. One of the largest and oldest companies in Hawaii founded in 1919 by her Grandfather Peter Fukunaga. Mother, Grace was a lifelong educator, teaching for many years at Wilson Elementary School. Both parents served as role models to Julie, instilling the importance of hard work, persistence, remaining humble and high educational values. She is a lifelong learner.
Julie’s work experiences include 18 years in the banking industry, with her latest position as Vice President of the Direct Marketing & Promotions of Central Pacific Bank. Other areas of experience are Branch Manager, VP of Business Development, Residential Mortgage Sales Manager for City Bank and International Savings.
Her combined experience in the Business field, specifically in Service, Sales & Marketing, and Finance have been beneficial to the Ihara Team clients. While she and Dan have built many businesses, her real passion is to help others reach their goals; whether in real estate, career or in life.
FAMILY LIFE
Dan & Julie have been married for over 35 years and have 3 sons: Michael (28), James (25) and Randy (23). Randy works with The Ihara Team as a listing manager. When not studying and working they can be found surfing or diving with their friends and dad.
Dan can be seen out in the waves at 5am almost daily. He has gone on surf trips to Indonesia, Tahiti, Fiji, & Mexico. He looks forward to his annual surf trips in remote places around the globe. Julie loves being a Mom to her boys and the team. She also volunteers her time to serve and lead others, as well as to network and support women leaders.
Dan & Julie are proud parents who appreciate quality time with their family. They regularly take family vacations to explore the world and ski/snowboard in the winter. They work hard and play hard together!
