S.O.S. TIPS EARTHQUAKE

STRENGTHENING O.R.D.E.R. IN SCHOOLS ORGANIZATIONAL RESILIENCE IN DISASTERS & EMERGENCY RESPONSE


DURING EARTHQUAKE If you are outdoors:

Move away from buildings with glass windows and falling objects

Move away from electric post, billboards and trees


Move to designated evacuation area

Move away from walls that may collapse

Wait for instructions on evacuation

Stay still until the shaking stops


DURING EARTHQUAKE If you are indoors:

Open the exit doors immediately ensuring that they don’t get stuck

Move away from the windows and glass


Stay away from heavy furniture or cabinets

Duck under a heavy desk or table and hold on to it


Duck and cover your head with your arms or use your bag for protection

Stay still until the shaking stops


Wait for instructions on evacuation

Be ready with emergency flashlight in case of brownouts

EMERGENCY FLASHLIGHT


AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE Once the shaking stops, move cautiously outside the building

Use the stairs. Do not use the elevator

EXIT


Proceed to the open evacuation site


Stay away from toppled trees and electrical posts


Do not enter damaged buildings

Watch-out for falling objects, broken glasses and spills on the floor
