KEYNSHAM NEWS
COMMUNITY @ 67 F
ollowing the major re-build , courtesy of B&NES S106 award, helped extend the facility at Community@67 and gave us disabled access/toilets, we are going from strength to strength. Old favourites such as our Internet Café, Food Coop, Scrabble Club, Maths Club, Book Club etc. We are now able to offer many more facilities for our wonderful, thriving community at Community@67. We have recently launched Keynsham Town Community Radio through Somer Vally FM. Aired at midday on Thursdays, or you can find it on catch up listed under Midday Magazine at any
time. It is a platform for local community groups, businesses, local musicians, etc to reach the wider community. It is currently an hour –long show and has a really local feel to it. The inaugural meeting of the new Arts and Crafts Club was held recently. It was agreed to meet every Saturday, from 10:30 – 12:30 and there will be an array of various arts and crafts to choose from such as Painting, Quilting, Card Making, Knitting, Sewing etc. On the 23rd April from 5-9pm we will be taking part in the launch of The World Book Night, we are lucky to have been selected from thousands of community groups and have been given a number of books to give out to local residents, the idea being to encourage people to read books. Come and join in the fun! From this month we are launching a new initiative which will help local people to prepare for work, this will be delivered by a company called “Clean Slate” which has a proven track record in delivering this programme. We are currently looking for more volunteers for this worthwhile community facility, if you can spare an hour or two a week, please contact Clare Hudson, Chair on 07737 742300.
