Spacey (on May 24) “had all of me in his hand,” wrote Harry Dreyfuss in his claim of sexual assault.

Kevin Spacey

Secret life exposed The decorated actor seeks treatment in the face of multiple disturbing accusations

S A WAY OF COPING WITH HIS trauma, aspiring actor Harry Dreyfuss would tell the story at parties for laughs: the time when his idol, Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, secretly groped him at the age of 18 in the company of his father, actor Richard Dreyfuss, in 2008. The joke fell apart when people came back with similar stories involving the star. Wrote Harry in BuzzFeed News: “They would respond by saying, ‘I know a guy that that happened to as well.’ ” Those victims are now finding their voice. Since Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp claimed on Oct. 30 that Spacey made inappropriate sexual advances towards him when he was 14, multiple allegations have been squared against the 58-year-old House of Cards star. Among his accusers are an anonymous man who told New York magazine Spacey began a sexual relationship with him when he was 14. The pair met, says the now 48-year-old, when he was a 12-year-old student in a New York acting class, and Spacey came in as a guest teacher. They met again two years later when Spacey gave the teen his phone number and they began a sexual relationship. “He is a paedophile,” said the man. Spacey “absolutely denies the allegations,” his lawyer told the magazine. Actor Roberto Cavazos, who performed in several productions at London’s The Old Vic theatre, where Spacey was artistic director for 11 years, also accuses Spacey of sexual harassment. “There are many of us who have a ‘Kevin Spacey story,’ ” Cavazos, 35, wrote in a Facebook post. “It seems like you only needed to be a man under 30 for him to feel free to touch us. It was so common that it turned into a (very bad) joke amongst us.”

MORE CLAIMS

Actress Cassidy Freeman (inset) has accused Entourage’s Jeremy Piven of sexual harassment. “I know what you attempted to do to me when I was far too young,” she instagrammed.

Harry Dreyfuss (with father Richard in 2000) says Spacey groped him while rehearsing with his father for a play in Spacey’s London apartment in 2008.

‘TOO SCARED’

Six women have accused filmmaker Brett Ratner of harassment (his lawyer said he “vehemently denies” allegations). Olivia Munn claimed he masturbated in front of her.

Actor Roberto Cavazos says that while Spacey worked at London’s Old Vic theatre the star met with male actors to “talk about their career,” he said. “I never let anything happen, but know of a few who were too scared to stop him.”

Spacey (right) onstage in Inherit the Wind at London’s The Old Vic theatre in 2009.

Uma Thurman (below, with Harvey Weinstein in 2016), who starred in Miramax’s Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill, has hinted she has a story to tell. “When I am ready, I will say what I have to say,” she told Access Hollywood.

And according to staff on Netflix’s House of Cards, the star’s behaviour made the set a “toxic” environment. Eight employees told CNN his behaviour was “predatory” and one former production assistant accuses Spacey of sexually assaulting him while the assistant was transporting Spacey to set. “I was in a state of shock,” the man said. Netflix has shut down production on the series, after announcing that its upcoming sixth season will also be its final. Spacey, who after Rapp’s allegations came out as gay, is seeking help, said his representative in a statement: “Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment.” ■

Rapp (on Oct. 7) said Spacey tried to “seduce” him when he was 14. “I was aware he was trying to get with me sexually,” he said.

TEXAS CHURCH SHOOTING

After the mass shooting in Texas, US President Donald Trump said, “I think that mental health is your problem here.” But he denied the US gun laws were in any way to blame: “This isn’t a guns situation,” he said.

I

N A NATION STILL FRESHLY GRIEVING ITS WORST mass shooting in history, an armed man claimed 26 lives in a Texan church on Nov. 5. During a Sunday morning service at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, 26-year-old former US Air Force member Devin Kelley, dressed in all-black tactical gear and a ballistic vest, parked his Ford Explorer at a petrol station across the road, got out and began firing towards the sanctuary. Armed with a Ruger AR-556 semi-automatic rifle, he continued unloading the weapon as he entered the church. Among the victims, who range in age from 18 months to 77 years, are the church pastor’s 14-yearold daughter, eight members of an extended family including a pregnant mother, and a 16-yearold aspiring nurse. Kelley’s mother-in-law was also killed in the attack. At least 20 were injured. After Kelley left the place of worship, Stephen Willeford, who lives next to the church and had heard the gunfire, ran outside with his own gun and opened fire on the gunman, wounding him.

12 l Who

“He saw that the guy was wearing body armour, and there was a velcro strap, from the back to the front,” his cousin Ken Leonard told CNN. “He knew from that ... that the vulnerable spot was going to be in the side. And so that’s where he shot him.” Wounded, Kelley fled in his Explorer, while Willeford waved down passing motorist Johnnie Langendorff, got in his truck and told the driver to chase the Ford. After driving for ten minutes at speeds of up to 150km/h, Kelley “lost control on his own and went off into the ditch,” Langendorff told local TV station KSAT.When police arrived minutes later they found Kelley dead in the car from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, and that the shooter had sent threatening text messages to his mother-in-law. “It’s a senseless crime, but we can tell you that there was a domestic situation going on within this family,” Freeman Martin, regional director for the Texas Department of Public Safety, told the media on Nov. 6. “We can’t go into details, but we want to

get that out there—that this was not racially motivated, it wasn’t over religious beliefs, there was a domestic situation going on within the family and the in-laws.” The attack, which comes just weeks after gunman Stephen Paddock fired down onto a country music concert in Las Vegas, killing 58 and injuring hundreds, was the largest mass shooting in the state’s history. “There are so many families who have lost family members, fathers, mothers, sons and daughters,” said Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Sunday. “We appreciate the first responders, who are continuing to try to give the community the answers they need and deserve.” What authorities do know was that Kelley served at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, working in logistics readiness. He was stationed there from 2010 until he was discharged in 2014, following a 2012 court-martial on accusations he assaulted his spouse and their child, an Air Force spokeswoman tells WHO. WINN HER B T Insiders tell WHO a reformed anything’ to prove to Selena wo years ago, she sang about “being sick of the same old love,” but Selena Gomez isn’t living life by her lyrics. Since breaking up with R&B artist The Weeknd, the singer has rebounded with Justin Bieber— infamous to Gomez fans as the boyfriend who broke her heart. The couple are spending nearly every day together, doing wholesome things like riding their bikes, going to services at the reformed bad boy’s Hillsong Church and reconnecting over intimate meals. On Nov. 3, after they attended the 2017 conference of the Australian-originated church, the pop stars enjoyed a private dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse in Los Angeles, arriving at 10 PM and staying until midnight. According to an onlooker, Bieber, 23, arranged for them to be seated after the restaurant had closed so he and Gomez, 25, could have the place to themselves. “They’re figuring things out as they spend time together,” an insider close to the pair tells WHO. There’s a lot of baggage to sort through. Starting in 2010, the pair had a roller-coaster romance that continued for two more years after they split for the first time in 2012, amid cheating rumours. In August 2016, the two

According to multiple sources, Bieber was moved to reach out to his old flame in September, after learning she was recovering from a kidney transplant (Gomez suffers from lupus). Says a friend of the pop idol: “He was very worried and is so relieved she’s doing well.” While they’re enjoying hanging out again, the pair are taking things slowly. “Spending time together makes them both very happy,” says the friend. “For Justin, no-one ever came close to comparing to Selena.” The rekindled friendship, however, was not responsible for her split from The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye), 27, sources previously told WHO. “It’s been hard with [The Weeknd] being on tour and [Gomez] shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy for them. It’s over for now, but they’re still in touch,” a source said. Two days after her break-up was announced, Gomez was all smiles with Bieber during a leisurely bike ride in LA on Nov. 1. That evening, she cheered on her heart-throb ex at his ice-hockey game. Later, she wore Bieber’s New Jersey Devils jersey as she left the arena. The ball is in Gomez’s court, sources agree, and Bieber is a happy man in the meantime. “Justin is doing

He doesn’t feel any rush, because no doubt they are already emotionally back together.” Gomez’s inner circle frets about her reuniting with the controversy-prone Canadian, but no-one is surprised. “Justin was Selena’s first love. She’s never been able to get over him,” says the insider. Even during Bieber’s many legal scrapes, “she always saw the best in him.” When sparks first flew, Bieber and Gomez were teen stars on the rise. Cyrus was wearing a jumper she picked up days earlier on Tybee Island, after the loved-up couple spent a day at the beach where they first met and fell in love in 2009 as co-stars in The Last Song. Still, it was a different element of the singer’s outfit that pulled the most focus: she and Hemsworth were sporting matching bands on their ring fingers, once again igniting marriage buzz. The stars were first engaged in June 2012 but called it off by September 2013. They reconnected in 2015 and are now engaged once more. But are they hitched? Their adorned ring fingers are actually nothing new. In August, Hemsworth, 27,

While they may be sporting promise rings, Cyrus, 24, has openly talked about her feelings on marriage, making it clear that she can’t see herself walking down the aisle anytime soon. “I’m 24. I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do [before I get married],” she said in September. “Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned. I’m just riding this out.” A happily-ever-after ending wasn’t always on the cards. Reflecting on their time apart, “I had to. Before Cyrus visited Hemsworth on set in Georgia, the pair made a rare red-carpet appearance to support Liam’s brother Chris Hemsworth at the Thor: Ragnarok premiere in Los Angeles on Oct. 10. Weeks later, when Cyrus was a musical guest on Saturday Night Live alongside guest host Larry David on Nov. 4, Hemsworth made a surprise cameo in a sketch in which Cyrus played a game-show audience member paired with celebrity contestant Chris Hemsworth (portrayed by cast member Alex Moffat). Cyrus told the faux elder sibling of her beau, “You’re really cute.” “Yeah, sorry love, I’m married,” replied Moffat, in character as the actor. THEIR 70TH ANNIVERSARY

The future Queen was just 13 when she fell head-over-heels for the handsome Navy cadet— and they have been inseparable ever since

O THEN & NOW The couple revisited Broadlands, an estate in the English countryside, 60 years after their 1947 honeymoon in the same spot (inset, above left).

n a warm English summer day earlier this year, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip drove to the magnificent Cumberland Lodge, a few kilometres from their home at Windsor Castle for a pre-lunch appointment with dear friends. Moving comfortably between the assembled guests, the pair showcased the effortless chemistry they have honed throughout 70 years of marriage. Straight-talking, quip-dropping Philip, 96—who had announced his retirement from public duties in May— “was as jovial and switched on as ever,” says an attendee, while Elizabeth, 91, reigned over the gathering with ease. “Part of the reason she keeps going so steadily is that she has him there beside her,” says the guest. “They’re a great team, and that’s still the case.” With their landmark platinum wedding anniversary on Nov. 20, the couple’s extraordinary partnership remains unwavering, even as they face the losses and demands that accompany the twilight of life. Yes, they are slowing down and relinquishing many of their long-held duties, but they are hardly stepping away. “They are finding their own pace,” says a former household staffer. As for marking their anniversary, they will likely enjoy a quiet family celebration. “She doesn’t want to be showy,” says the former staffer. “They just want to be private about it.” Of course, their love story began

For young Lilibet, as her family called her then, it was love at first sight. “She never looked at anyone else,” her cousin Margaret Rhodes later said. The couple’s wedding on Nov. 20, 1947, was the first grand public event in Britain since the end of WWII (see box). The newlyweds had just welcomed son Charles and daughter Anne when Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, died in 1952, thrusting his elder daughter into the role she would occupy for the rest of her long life: Queen. Her accession, in turn, pushed her husband into a role he had never previously played: second fiddle. Prior to her disappearance, Sherri had been texting with a “male acquaintance” in the Detroit area about meeting while he was due to be in California on business days before she went missing. “We went to Michigan and ruled out him as having any part in her disappearance,” Jackson says. THE SHERRI PAPINI ABDUCTION MYSTERY: A TIMELINE NOV 2, 2016

Sometime between 11 AM and 2 PM Sherri Papini, who was reportedly training for a 5K charity run, takes her mobile phone and earbuds and heads out on a jog in her Redding, California, neighbourhood.

NOV 2, 2016

5.51 PM Keith Papini, Sherri’s husband, arrives home. The house is empty, Sherri has not responded to texts and she has not picked their young children up from day care. Using his Find My iPhone app, he tracks Sherri’s phone to a location about 1.5km from their home, where he finds the phone and her earbuds on the side of the road.

NOV 2, 2016

7.51 PM Keith calls 911 to report Sherri is missing. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office launches an extensive investigation, looking into the Papinis’ personal life and canvassing the area for witnesses or video surveillance.

Keith (making a TV appeal during last year’s search) was investigated and given a polygraph, the sheriff’s office says, with no evidence against him found.

point, she fought back against her younger captor—slamming the woman’s head into the toilet in an altercation that left Sherri with a cut on her foot—and yet hospital photos from the day of Sherri’s recovery show no evidence of a cut, although it could have healed.“That could be construed as inconsistent,” says Jackson. “If there is no clarification [from Sherri], we take it for what it is worth and go on with the investigation ... There is no information that would indicate it’s not true,” he says. Those closest to the case are as certain that Sherri was brutally victimised as they are of her great fortune to have somehow survived. Missy McArthur, who was mayor of Redding at the time Sherri disappeared, met with her and Keith shortly after Sherri’s homecoming—just the three of them, at McArthur’s home. “She was really afraid of people and strangers,” McArthur says. “She wanted to be right next to Keith. I think their relationship is real and hopefully it can withstand this kind of trauma. They are a team and were at that time. I just believe them both.”

Keith takes a polygraph test and passes. Police say “no deception is indicated about [his involvement] with Sherri’s disappearance.”

NOV 24, 2016

Around 4 AM, motorist Alison Sutton spots Sherri near Interstate 5 in Yolo County and calls 911. Sherri is wearing restraints, is covered in bruises and is branded on her right shoulder.

OCT 25, 2017

Police release sketches of Sherri’s two alleged Hispanic female captors and reveal that unknown DNA was found on Sherri and her clothes. The FBI offers a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the suspects.

Mayor of Redding, Missy McArthur, who had the Papinis to her home after Sherri was recovered, described her as suffering from PTSD: “Her pysche was really damaged from the horrific experience she went through.”

BURNING QUESTIONS

1

WHY WOULD SHERRI HAVE BEEN TAKEN AND THEN RELEASED? Shasta County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Jackson says police haven’t found a motive for her abduction. “It is hard to keep someone in captivity for 22 days,” he says. “Why would someone go to that length?” Adds San Diego private investigator Bill Garcia, “I don’t know of anyone who would go through that amount of effort to gain so little.” WHY WAS THERE NO RANSOM REQUEST? “I think that is what is really perplexing the police,” says Joe Giacalone, a retired New York police sergeant and professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, who is not connected to the case. “There is no rhyme or reason for [the kidnappers] never making a request for money.” WHY DID IT TAKE NEARLY A YEAR TO PRODUCE SUSPECT SKETCHES? Though police worked closely with Sherri since she was located last Nov. 24, they say it took time for her to come to a place in her recovery to work with a sketch artist. WILL A DNA HIT SOLVE THIS CASE? “ ”I am holding out for that,” says Sgt. Jackson. “Nothing has come back yet, but when it does, that will be a good day.”

And then there’s the most fundamental fact: “She was beat to a pulp,” says McArthur. “You don’t do that kind of thing to yourself. I absolutely believe she was kidnapped.” Even Garcia says the open questions haven’t changed his bottom line. “I think it was real, just based on what I saw. There didn’t seem to be tension between Sherri and her husband.” Friends of the Papinis also say that no-one other than Sherri and Keith truly understand the horror of what she has faced. “Society crucified her and made her out to be a horrible person when she is a victim in the entire thing,” says Lisa Jeter, a friend of the couple. “I just would like people to leave her alone and let them heal. ” But for Nickens, her community’s sense of safety hangs in the margin. “If we had a young woman jogging on a road in Shasta County abducted in broad daylight, how can this not be a public safety issue? I have five daughters under the age of 22,” Nickens says. “If it did not really happen the way it was presented, the citizens of Shasta County should know.” ■ By Sandra Sobieraj Westfall and Christine Pelisek. Looking bella in a long-sleeved lace gown, reportedly by Valentino, the model and actress exchanged vows with Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander on Nov. 4, reportedly at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort. As a source told E! News in the lead-up to the nuptials, “Justin just wants her to be happy and have everything she desires for this special day.” Mission accomplished, as evidenced by photos of the big day. Guests ascended a stairway lit by hurricane candles to the ceremony in a medieval church overlooking the Montalcino valley. Upton, 25, was flanked by six attendants all wearing variations of dusty-pink dresses, while Verlander, 34, looked dapper in a tux alongside his suited groomsmen. Flowers matched the bridesmaids’ frocks, with blooms in shades of dusty pink, white and mauve. “I want a lot of flowers,” Upton told Martha Stewart Weddings in May. “And I know I want the

ina Hutchence always knew her brother was destined for something great, but not on stage. Born in Sydney in 1960 to parents Kell, a businessman, and Patricia, a former model turned film-andTV makeup artist, Michael Hutchence was 12 years younger than Tina, and from an early age forged a strong bond with his half-sister (Patricia had Tina in her first marriage, and after Patricia re-married, Tina took on Kell’s surname). “Michael began writing poetry in his early teens,” Tina, 70, tells WHO. “He was an avid reader and of course he loved music, as teenagers do. But he was shy so the idea of him performing didn’t enter my mind.” That introverted, well-read poet became one of the world’s most iconic rock stars as the frontman for INXS, whose shocking death at Sydney’s Ritz Carlton hotel on Nov. 22, 1997, blindsided his fans and loved ones. Before fame, Michael was a “very happy” child who was often put in the care of his elder sister as the family moved around for Kell’s work. After first relocating the family to Brisbane, Kell took a job in Hong Kong, where Michael, who also had a younger brother, Rhett, spent his formative years, before returning to Sydney when Michael was 12. After Kell and Patricia divorced in 1975, ending a long-troubled marriage, Michael and Tina relied on their bond to survive the fallout. For a time they moved with their mother to Los Angeles, where she worked on film and TV sets. “Michael had a kindness about him,” says Tina, a retired makeup artist who is mother of Brent, 45, and Erin, 39, and a grandmum to five. “He

Towards the end of 1997 they returned to Australia and began rehearsals at ABC Studios on Sydney’s North Shore for the Australian (and final) leg of the tour. Hutchence was hoping his partner, Paula Yates, would join him on the tour with their 16-month-old daughter, Tiger, and two of Yates’s three daughters with Bob Geldof. I’ve been the ambassador for Oral-B for three years now, and it’s such an honour to be working with such an amazing company. I think a gorgeous smile is the first thing people notice about you. For me, looking good is about feeling good and being healthy—and that starts with a great smile. How do you maintain your white smile? I’m now using the new genius electric toothbrush, paired with the brilliant Oral-B 5.0 app, it will literally show you where you need to brush, what areas you’ve missed! Congratulations on your engagement. Are you busy with wedding plans? Thank you! Both Tim and I are really busy at the moment with wedding planning, on top of all our day-to-day activities—not to

I’ll keep using the full Oral-B white regimen, but I’ve also recently started trialling laser peel treatments to help prep my skin ahead of my wedding day. Lastly, there’s the exercise (and Tim doesn’t ever let me slack off!). I tend to always stay active rather than having a strict routine, and I won’t be switching things up too much. What’s your favourite treatment? My eyelash extensions; I have been getting them for years and, for me, they’re like my armour. Eyelashes, check; healthy white smile, check! How do you and Tim unwind? I love the feeling of taking off my makeup, having a shower and getting into my PJ’s to chill on the couch. Tim and I will go for a walk, head to our fave café, go to a movie, or chill out at the beach or park a couple of times a week— and love every minute of it!

HOW TO:

SMOKEY EYELINER

LIKE A LITTLE BLACK DRESS OR RED LIPSTICK, A SHOW-STOPPING SMOKEY EYE NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE - HERE’S HOW TO GET THE LOOK STEP 1 The key to a good smokey eye is to build the colour in stages. Pick from one of four shades of Revlon ColorStay 2 IN 1 Angled Kajal™ eyeliner, then use the flat side to draw a thick line along the entire upper lashline, from the outer to the inner corner. STEP 2 Flip the pencil over and use the angled brush to smudge the soft kajal texture up and over the entire eyelid. STEP 3 Repeat the above, adding more colour and blending until you get your desired level of smokiness.

STEP 4 Trace the precision point tip of the pencil along the lower waterline (don’t worry, the formula is both gentle and waterproof). Now run the narrow tip just under the lower lashline and blend for a smudged effect. STEP 5 The longwearing power of ColorStay™ means your smokey eye will last all day (and night), so finish by simply grooming your brows and applying two coats of mascara.

1 tsp honey 1 tbsp rolled oats 1 tbsp almond flakes 1 tbsp cacao nibs (optional)

elebrity trainer, children’s book author, taekwondo black belt and founder of TIFFXO.com Tiffiny Hall has a new challenge: being mum to baby Arnold, born on Sept. 11. She tells WHO how motherhood has changed her and why she won’t provide a “bounce-back” picture—“I want to show my TIFFXO members a sustainable and enjoyable return to fitness takes time and self-care.”

“I don’t want to show a bounce-back photo. I want to be true to what I believe in—staying ‘happyfit’,” says Hall.

Congratulations to you and husband Ed Kavalee on the birth of Arnold. How has being a new mum changed your relationship with your body? I’m super proud of my body. It has achieved the most amazing thing it will ever do— pregnancy and delivering my son. Sure, it’s changed, but I’m embracing that change. Without wider hips, stretch marks and my “mum tum” I wouldn’t have Arnold. I’ll get back to fitness when I’m good and ready, and most importantly recovered. H do you plan to start getting How back into training? Gently and b slowly. I’ve started with gentle walking w with Arnold—showing him h the birds and beautiful sky. I’m I also doing a pelvic-floor program p three times a day. When W I get the all-clear from my obstetrician, I’ll start with m llow-impact taekwondo—a lot of ccore strengthening, stretching and breathing exercises.

Do you have any exercises that you recommend for new mums? Yes. I recommend walking, it’s a great way to stretch out your muscles, increase blood flow and it’s fabulous for your mental health to leave the house. It’s a great way to slowly build up your endurance and regain strength, once you’re feeling recovered you can add in some hills and inclines. Pushing a pram—this is a workout! Also, don’t ignore your pelvic floor. It’s imperative to regaining core strength. You are also an advocate of looking after mental health. Having a baby is overwhelming—there are huge hormonal changes, the physical recovery after birth, sleep deprivation …. You gained 30kg during pregnancy. Do you have a timeline to losing that weight? No timeline, sorry! If I rush back into it I risk injury. Focusing on kilos or time is an unhealthy way to approach it. I want to enjoy my return to fitness.

From Tiffiny Hall’s fitness program, www.tiffxo.com.

MOVIE

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

STARRING: Kenneth Branagh Beautifully shot and nearly two hours long, the latest adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1934 mystery is a delightful star-studded confection (as was the 1974 Sidney Lumet version, see below). This one is helmed by Branagh, who also stars as the know-it-all, perfection-obsessed Hercule Poirot. The rest-seeking detective finds himself a last-minute addition to an eclectic collection of passengers aboard the luxurious train before a murder occurs and the train is snowbound. With nowhere to go and suspects aplenty, the scene is set for Hercule to work his deductive magic. And he does. (Out now) COMPARE THE CASTS HERCULE POIROT

PALOMA FAITH ‘Guilty’ vs ‘Crybaby’

The “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” crooner is back with new album The Architect, featuring her signature cool style. “Guilty”, co-written by Ella Henderson and apparently drawing inspiration from Faith regretting choosing “Leave” on her Brexit form, is an Amy Winehouse–reminiscent big number, but “Crybaby” is a refreshing frappe of a summer single, and an interesting change of tune. BRAD’S STATUS

STARRING: Ben Stiller Brad (Stiller, hopping with agitation) is tormented by death-knell thoughts in middle age: the head of a minor nonprofit, he’ll go no further in life—and he’s gone nowhere near as far as his old friends (including Michael Sheen, Luke Wilson and Jemaine Clement), all of them now rich. Then he takes a sentimental journey: he bonds with his teenage son (Austin Abrams) on a tour of colleges, and he learns that none of the old gang is truly happy. His heart is touched, but you suspect his mind is still a cork-board target for darts of pride and envyy. WHAT YOUR STARS SAY THIS WEEK, NOV. 13–19

ARIES

GEMINI

APRIL 19–MAY 20

MAY 21–JUNE 20

Regardless of any upheaval you may be going through, Aries, there will be a happy ending a little further down the line. With this in mind, treat any criticism received with a willingness to improve your chances of success, and if someone truly takes you to task, retire with grace. Under no circumstances retaliate. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

People you meet at this time will be seriously good news, and the steps you take to partner up with others, whether for business or pleasure, should lead to extremely positive outcomes. So, if you have been hesitating to ask someone out or wondering whether to reach out for career purposes, hold back no longer. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

Normally, Gemini would steer clear of confrontation, preferring to keep options open, but you may have no choice other than to engage. Whether you need to tackle an organisation or an individual who has failed to treat you well or because you have waited long enough for someone to make the right move, push has come to shove. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

JUNE 21–JULY 21

JULY 22–AUG. 22

AUG. 23–SEPT. 22

You have a chance to sample some Jupiterian delights this week, whether you have special occasions already planned or a wonderful opportunity comes out of thin air. Not a sign given to tooting your own horn, a little bit of self-promotion could go a long way to guaranteeing your success, whether for personal or professional reasons. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

While you could just sit back and wait for the universe to move, why not set in motion a plan you have been discussing for a while. Use the astrological force as a tailwind. One thing you may have to do first, however, is rid yourself of a situation that is draining your reserves or becoming a source of pain and sleepless nights. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

When you don’t know what to do, you should wait until you do. And sometimes this is simply a matter of you realising how you feel and taking actions based on your emotions. Other people could be ready to make a move, which will help you reach a decision, but keep an open mind because it may not be what you expect. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

LIBRA

SCORPIO

SAGITTARIUS

Whether you are made aware of how certain people admire you and are prepared to back you or because your income rises and cash flow becomes easier, life could be looking brighter. However, this is not the whole story. Mars and Pluto square off, raising the potential for arguments and stand-offs. Be your usual impartial self. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

If you want to take a relationship to the next level or promote your ambitions, have the courage to make that statement from the heart. Not every Scorpio is going to see a dramatic and upbeat development this week, but even a small shift could change the direction in which one or more situations were headed. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

Your trust in the universe may have been dented in recent times, but once we turn the corner into 2018, this should change. One factor that could speed your course to renewed faith, both in yourself and the way the world works, is to establish what aspects of your existence are interfering with your short and long-term ambitions. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

CAPRICORN

AQUARIUS JAN. 21–FEB. 18

FEB. 19–MARCH 19

It’s time to get those garden tools out again and strip away the dead wood that is preventing future growth. Clearly, the best-case scenario is for you to get behind those things that need stripping back and placing on the compost heap, but if events do the job for you, accept it is for a good purpose. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

On the one hand, love and relationships could become a top priority and, on the other, the steps you take to expand your life, most particularly in regard to your career, should prove successful. Even if a meeting or proposal does not lead to anything concrete now, it may well do so in the future. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

Things are looking a little steamy. Hopefully, in a good way, but if you are among the Pisceans currently unable to see a situation clearly, seek a reliable second opinion and go through the facts and figures as you know them. Sometimes, when we are so consumed with a situation we read things into it that simply aren’t there. For more, phone 1902 261 655.

ANTHONY MACKIE & WILL POULTER The Hurt Locker‘s Anthony Mackie, 39, and Will Poulter, 24, speak to WHO’s Carly Bass about their film Detroit (out now), detailing the city’s deadly 1967 race riot.

Were you familiar with the riots before you were cast? Poulter No, no. I didn’t know about the rebellion in Detroit, I didn’t know just how many similar events there were throughout America. So many people of colour being mistreated. Mackie I was very familiar with what happened. I have family that moved [there] in 1965–66 [th ffor work and my uncle un would tell me m about the riots, the t stuff he had th seen. se To have one of those men in my family was a huge fa advantage a to building [my] b “It’s on everybody character. c to find a solution,” How was working H t jus t “No . says Poulter with each other? w are o wh the people P I knew Poulter affected by prejudice.”

“He’s my only British friend,” says Detroit’s Mackie (right) and co-star Poulter.

First, fangs ...

Chin and skin matching ...

Anthony’s work from The Hurt Locker and the Marvel universe. He’s a multi-talented guy. Mackie The only thing I knew of Will was We’re the Millers and, well, it was funny. I feel like 99.9 per cent of actors in Hollywood could not do We’re the Millers and this movie. It says a lot about him and his talent. What do you think of the film? Mackie I feel like every country has its Detroit, everybody has their Detroit, so it gives you the opportunity to look at it from the outside, and just make the right decision instead of actively making the wrong decision. Poulter We were all aware of the greater purpose, to create something that could affect genuine social change, that could be a politically influential movie. Did you spend time together off-set? Mackie We did. When we would wrap we would all hang out together, have a beer, go to SoulCycle, go out to dinner. Make fun of each other and drink a pint. Poulter It was a chance to get back in contact with who we really are, show it was actually love and respect underpinning this whole experience. I can’t say we would have got through it without Anthony.

Patton Oswalt’s new happiness Patton Oswalt has found love once more after heartbreak. On Nov. 4, the 48-year-old Veep actor and comedian wed Meredith Salenger, 47, at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles. Officiating was actress Martha Plimpton, who is credited with introducing the pair. Oswalt’s daughter Alice, 8, performed flower-girl duties. “True love. True happiness. Forever and Always. The Oswalts,” posted Harvard-educated actress Salenger, who was first seen with Patton at the June premiere of Baby Driver, with the couple becoming engaged in July. For Patton, this marks a happier new chapter after his first wife, crime writer Michelle McNamara, died unexpectedly in her sleep in April 2016.
