TIMBER FENCE GATE DETAIL - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It was drawn for costing purposes.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

Prepared for the Steel contactor and Timber Supplier for costing purposes for the construction of this timber fence gate

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No, since it’s a working drawing containing all necessary information at this stage for this basic design.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

The labelling of the plan and elevation so one understands them, notes giving the detailed description of the timber as such from the sizes to type of timber to the steel properties. Basic dimensions were critical for the heights of the poles and c/c.

DOOR HANDLE DETAIL - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It represents a cast iron door handle design to detail illustrating the fixing.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It was prepared for the Cast Iron Contractor to have an overview with the design as such before making it.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No, since the drawing is clear and legible enough illustrating all the major components.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Dimensions served the purpose of the heights, thicknesses of the members and diameter. Notes illustrated more detailed specifications of the door handle as such. Hatching was inserted so one could differentiate from the door to the cast iron.

DELI & DISTILLERY - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates the existing/as-built of the building at present.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

For my colleague since we would have to take the drawing on site and check the as-built building if it corresponds to the one on the plan, if not we would then do the amendments and alterations after the site visit.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

Not really since it’s a working drawing at this stage which soon will be under going internal alterations.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

The labelling of each elevation so one could familiarise themselves with a source of direction e.g. N.E, N.W etc. Hatching illustrating the ground cover, thatched roofing and the window/glass. Notes of the spaces on the plan were inserted so one could adhere to the functioning of that specific space. As shown a basic section with its required notes “Section B-B” and the scale of it followed by the plan and four elevations all with an appropriate scale.



DELI & DISTILLERY MODEL - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates a three dimensional view of the deli and distillery for the clients and Architects use.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It was prepared for the client as requested as he wanted to have an idea of how the building would appear once the alterations were done.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No since the three dimensional drawing is yet a form of a presentation view of what the building could look like after alterations have been done.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Basic landscaping and the structure of how it could appear to be. As shown in the pictures there are many components in a 3D allowing for the client to simply get a perspective of how the building could turn out being.



CHOCOLATE FACTORY - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates a three dimensional view of the alterations and additions to take place on the Chocolate Factory and how it could appear from the Architects point of view.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It was prepared for the client as requested as he wanted to have an idea of how the building would appear once the alterations were done.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No since the three dimensional drawing is yet a form of a presentation view of what the building could look like after alterations have been done.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Basic landscaping illustrating the existing trees, paved pathways and roads allowing for one to know the approach. As shown in the pictures there are many components in a 3D allowing for the client to simply get a perspective of how the building could turn out being.



BALUSTRADE DETAIL - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It was drawn for the Heritage Western Cape Council for them to see if this balustrade design was suitable for the building.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

Prepared for Heritage Western Cape Council.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No, since it’s a working drawing containing all necessary information at this stage for this basic design which matches the heritage of the buildings design within its context.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

The labelling of the plan and elevation so one understands them, notes giving the detailed description of the type of material and size that needs to be used. Dimensioning for the purpose of one to know the critical heights and c/c between the posts as well as a basic section showing the detailing of the galvanized mild steel flats.


HOUSE DICEY DU TOIT DRAWINGS




BATH TILE LAYOUT - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates a Tile Layout and alterations to be done to the bathroom respectively.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

At this stage it’s been a “working drawing” and prepared for Tender, to be specific it was prepared for the owner Mrs Dicey Du Toit for her approval on the design layout of the sanitary ware and tiling.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

It’s a working drawing and it’s subject to change how ever we are currently finding the best way to make maximum usage of the space so that the client will be 110% happy with.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Basic dimensioning illustrating the important heights such as the floor to window height and sanitary ware. Each internal elevation was given a title view referring back onto the plan e.g. View 1, View 2, and View 3 etc so it makes it easily readable. Notes giving a detailed description of the materials such as the tiling specifications and sanitary ware. Window and door codes were present where one could refer back to their detailed schedules. As shown there are many components each functioning for the reader to understand the drawing and how it can be constructed.



PERGOLA DETAIL - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates a timber pergola to later detail for constructional and tender purposes.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It’s been prepared for both tender and the contractors at the same time not forgetting the client as well, to have an overview on the pergola to later detail.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No since it’s a working drawing and subject to change to the client’s request.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Dimensions were used illustrating the critical heights of the timber members. Notes were present allowing for a more detailed description of the materials and sizes. Headings were also present e.g. Elevation, Section A-A and Layout Plans so one can familiarise and understand the intention in this legal document/plan.

DOOR & WINDOW SCHEDULE - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates the window and doors to be used in the dwelling for constructional and tender purposes.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It’s been prepared for both tender and the contractors at the same time not forgetting the client, as well to have an overview on the exact windows and doors.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No since its an schedule providing the basic information for one to understand the drawing as such.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Dimensions were used illustrating the critical heights and thicknesses of the frames respectively. Notes providing a detailed description of each window and door such as the code, quantity, location within the dwelling, frame specifications, glazing, colour, ironmongery and cills.





KITCHEN MEASURED UP - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

It illustrates the correct measurements I have taken of the Bath and Kitchen as it is at present.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

At this stage it’s been a “working drawing” and prepared for no one at this current stage since we needed the correct measurements before planning the new Bath and Kitchenette.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

It’s a working drawing and it’s subject to change how ever we are currently finding the best way to make maximum usage of the space.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Basic dimensioning of the space’s as is as well as the labelling of the space “Bath” and “Kitchenette.”



HOUSE VAN DER MERWE - REVIEW WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS DRAWING? •

The drawing illustrates a new dwelling to be built as per the client’s request.

WHO WAS IT PREPARED FOR? •

It was prepared for Municipal submission.

ARE THERE OTHER WAYS IN PROVIDING THE SAME INFO? •

No, since it was going to be submitted to Council.

WHAT ARE THE PURPOSES OF THE MAIN COMPONENTS? •

Notes were all present illustrated a more detailed specification of the materials being used, to basic labelling of the area/spaces, floor finishes, and heights and so on. Dimensions served its purpose of the major overall lengths, heights as well as the windows and doors. Hatching differentiated between the finishes on the sections and roofing. To which the final product contained all the necessary information before submitting to Council as seen in the drawing alongside.
