IWD 2020 Get Ready! SAVE THE DATE March . 7 . 2020

The 2020 International Women’s Day rally and march strengthens the women’s movement’s reach across communities and generations. For 2020, we continue to invite you to showcase your work with women, girls, individuals and families, as we seek to create positive social change and empowerment in Trinidad and Tobago, building responsive and safe communities.

For 2020 we aim to expand our network and reach to include more youth and community based organisations. We invite you to join us as we come together to raise our voices for justice, rights and equality.

Welcome all! On March 7, 2020 we continue our fight for Gender Justice. We will unite once again for International Women’s Day 2020 to celebrate women, sisterhood and solidarity.

In the past three years, we have grown from strength to strength with your unwavering support and commitment to equality and justice. As we reflect on our journey this year, taking the lessons learnt and (re)new(ed) relationships, we welcome your continued support to create a safe space for persons and groups to come together to be heard in unity and power.

The focus of the IWD event is to bring individuals and groups together to celebrate, empower and honour each other. As we seek continuity in our work, we seek to reinforce the solidarity of support, recognise the work of organisations (old and new) who have continued to work for women throughout the years and to affirm them by honouring their work and giving recognition and visibility to them.

Here are some ways you can get involved! • Details to be announced early January 2020. • Contact us @ womensrightsrally@gmail.com

Sponsorship Opportunities The Annual Women’s Rights Rally and March is a celebration of International Women’s Day in Trinidad and Tobago. Each year we prioritise the issues and concerns facing women locally and regionally under the premise that w o m e n ’s r i g h t s a re e v e r y o n e ’s responsibility.

The local working partner women’s

theme is developed by the core group in collaboration with organisations working for rights and gender justice. All

are invited to “Bring Yuh Message and Come”.

T h e fi r s t Tr i n i d a d a n d To b a g o International Women’s Day march was held in 1958 in San Fernando. 2020 marks 66 years of this history and this event builds upon and is a reflection of

decades of women’s organising and movement building.

The international theme is also considered in the decision making. The 2020 theme pulls from the international theme of “Each for Equal” and focuses on local demands for gender justice, especially in the struggle to end genderbased violence.

One of the main goals of the Women’s Rights Rally and March is to provide a safe and inclusive space for citizens and residents of Trinidad and Tobago to share their concerns and to support women’s rights.

Thank you once again for a successful march and rally in 2019

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to you for making our 3rd Annual Women’s Rights Rally and March in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2019, a success. Once again, we saw hundreds of individuals, families, friends and organisations come out in solidarity with a rallying cry of #DemandBetter. Participants brought their messages for Gender Justice, demanding better for gender equity and equality, for women’s rights, for sexual rights, for human rights, for justice for all. It was a celebration of w o m e n , s i s t e r h o o d a n d m e n ’s solidarity in different struggles we face.
