When creating an animated short, it is a difficult task to bring any idea to life and to make sure that you have explored all of your options when making it the best it can be. It is typical practice to sketch, paint and design 2D pieces of artwork or model 3D objects, character and environments that are rough in form but understandable to see if they are good or bad ideas before moving forward. This task while necessary can take a long time at any stage of the process if the artist feels like their creativity is being held back by the tools that they have to use and not by their imaginations. By combining the 2D visual aesthetics that cartoons are known for and generating them in a 3D workspace, can VR be used as a bridge between these mediums and produce a new creative platform for artists to use during production? From this, if the conclusions found are not to be useful, what could have been made that have marketable and practical potential?
