International Federation of Medical Students' Associations - Iraq is a non-governmental organization formed by alumni and nonalumni medical students as part of the IFMSA worldwide. It started in 2012 and became a registered NGO in Iraq in the year 2015.

IFMSA-Iraq aims to connect the Iraqi medical, dental and pharmacy students to communicate, collaborate, advocate and lead initiatives that create the change we believe in, IFMSA-Iraq carries the voice of its members and empowers them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experiences through exchanges, external representation and a variety of opportunities and projects, to carry out meaningful student’s participation role and to shape the face of healthcare and educational systems in aspects of local, national and the international levels all together.

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE EB Dear IFMSA-Iraq Family, We are writing this letter filled with mixed emotions. After working virtually for almost 2 years, the moment we have been waiting for, a fully physical NGA is fastly approaching! Looking back over the past years, meeting once again under the same roof feels like a dream come true. In around 600 hours, we will be united once again in person after 2 years of meeting each other behind screens for most of our national events.

Through all the challenges of the past few years, we have proven to be resilient time and time again. We have made the most out of challenging circumstances, adapting to the digital world, an opportunity that has proven to be beneficial to our association, widening the access to our activities by reaching more medical students and introducing them to the inspirational world of IFMSA-Iraq.

However, we believe that an NGA is an experience that we must go through in person, one that we would remember and tell stories about for years later.

Gathering up in one place and meeting all the people who are working hard for the progress of the development of IFMSA-Iraq as well as meeting our members is an experience not to be missed.

ABOUT IFMSA-IRAQ

‫‪ABOUT IFMSA-IRAQ‬‬ ‫ ‪IFMSA - Iraq (International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations‬‬‫‪Iraq) is a non-governmental organization formed by alumni and non- alumni‬‬ ‫‪medical students as part of the IFMSA worldwide. The organization promotes‬‬ ‫‪humanitarian ideals among medical students and seeks to contribute to the‬‬ ‫‪creation of responsible future physicians, besides, IFMSA - Iraq aims to‬‬ ‫‪connect the Iraqi medical students with their peers worldwide through‬‬ ‫‪training and exchange programs available for IFMSA members . The organization‬‬ ‫‪aims to help medical students to be more active in their local society through‬‬ ‫ ‪campaigns and projects that advocate public health and human rights. IFMSA‬‬‫‪Iraq started in 2012 and became a registered NGO in Iraq in 2015.‬‬ ‫الجمعية العراقية لطلبة الطب في العراق هي منظمة ال حكومية ال ربحية تم تأسيسها‬ ‫عن طريق طلبة طب و هي عضو كامل االتحاد العالمي لجمعيات طلبة الطب‪ .‬الجمعية‬ ‫تعزز المثاليات االنسانية و العلمية بين طلبة و خريجي المجموعة الطبية و تسعى‬ ‫للمساهمة في انشاء اطباء مستقبليين واعين و مسوولين في مجتمعاتهم‪ ،‬باالضافة‬ ‫الى ذلك تسعى الجمعية الى تحقيق تواصل طلبة الطب و الخريجين في العراق مع‬ ‫اقرانهم حول العالم عن طريق االحداث و التجمعات و التدريبات و التبادل االحترافي و‬ ‫البحثي في إنحاء العالم‪ ،‬والتي تتوفر لهم كونهم اعضاء في هذه الجمعية العالمية‪.‬‬ ‫الجمعية تسعى لجعل طلبة الطب فعالين و قادة في مجتمعاتهم عن طريق حمالتها و‬ ‫مشاريعها التي تدعو باالساس الى زيادة الوعي حول الصحة العامة بكافة فروعها و‬ ‫حقوق االنسان و السالم‪ .‬ابتدأت الجمعية اول خطواتها في عام ‪ 2012‬و أصبحت‬ ‫منظمة غير حكومية مسجلة رسميا في األمانة العامة لمجلس الوزراء في األول من‬ ‫نيسان للعام ‪.2015‬‬

ABOUT NGA

ABOUT NGA The 1st National General Assembly of IFMSA-Iraq was held in March 2016, the second was held in February 2017, followed by 4 more. The NGA is attended by many students and prominent figures of society such as doctors, ambassadors, professors, and government executives.

The theme's event is (Social Determinants of Health, Youth for Health & Peace) and it was attended by all, which led to many policy statements that were sent to the Ministry of Health and other NGOs. Hours of sessions on many topics such as Public Health, Sexual and Maternal Health, Human Rights and Peace, Medical Education and Medical Culture worldwide were given by the committees to attendants who submitted to their workshops.

In addition, hours of leadership training were given by internationally certified IFMSA trainers under multiple topics.

‫ و اجتماعها‬، 2016 ‫عقدت الجمعية اجتماعها السنوي الوطني األول في مارس آذار عام‬ ‫ بحضور‬.‫ اجتماعات اخرى‬4 ‫ وعقدت بعدها‬، 2017 ‫الوطني الثاني في فبراير شباط عام‬ ‫المئات من الطلبة والعديد من الشخصيات المهمة من المجتمع (أطباء واساتذة جامعات‬ ‫ عضوا من‬50 ‫ ) والتي نظمتها لجنة من اكثر من‬... ‫والسفراء وممثلي الجهات التفيذية‬ ‫ شباب‬. ‫ وقد حضر الحدث االساس لالجتماعين ( المحددات االجتماعية للصحة‬، ‫جمعيتنا‬ ‫ وارسل بيان السياسة العامة لوزارة الصحة‬، ‫من اجل الصحة و السالم ) الجميع‬ ‫ كذلك اعطيت عدة ساعات من الدورات في كل من‬. ‫والمنظمات غير الحكومية األخرى‬ ‫ والتعليم‬، ‫ وحموق اإلنسان والسالم‬، ‫هذه المواضيع ( الصحة العامة والصحة الجنسية‬ ‫ الثقافة الطبية في جميع انحاء العالم ) من قبل الجنة المختصة للحضور الذي قدم‬، ‫الطبي‬ ‫ و كما اعطيت عشرات الساعات من التدريبات من قبل مدربين مرخصين‬، ‫الى ورش عملها‬ .‫من قبل االتحاد العالمي لطلبة الطب و هم اعضاء في جمعيتنا‬

NGA THEME Post-Pandemic Recovery After 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the global community has seen the chance of gradual containment with the launchment of the COVID-19 vaccines. The visions of the “New-Normal” could shortly be the real world we will be living in.

Health Workforce has and will remain as a challenging factor to the sustainable and quality healthcare service worldwide. It is not uncommon that health and care workers were discriminated against and assaulted during COVID-19 pandemic. The huge demand of healthcare service since the outbreak of COVID-19 further jeopardised the rights and welfare of health workers. The inevitable transitions of medical education format and the rearrangements of clinical education brought about concerns in the quality of the training. It also caused difficulties to and even suspensions on the accreditation process. Transitions and transformations due to COVID-19 pandemic, however, might not necessarily have only negative impacts. Its effects on the more diverse formats and platforms for healthcare delivery could be an option while tackling health inequity issues and increase the efficiency of the healthcare workforce.

Babylon's great historical value and heritage comes from its place as the capital of the Babylonian empire, as such it is a center of knowledge, commerce and art. That's about our past, what about our present?

Although Babylon lost its noisy status as a capital, it still retains the beauty of its river and the surrounding nature, and most importantly, the generosity of its people found in the local community. It is not the first time Babylon has hosted a national event as it has hosted The SCORP gathering, The TOM and The Smart Effort Camp last term, in addition to many others before.
