Dear delegates, First of all, we would like to express our happiness about you attending the V4 Conference in Ostrava. We sincerely hope, that you are going to enjoy this prolonged weekend full of interesting workshops, meetings and fun. Also, our goal is for you to meet new friends and colleagues. As your OC, we are going to do our best for the smooth and comfortable course of the conference. Since we know, that orientation in a foreign city isn’t easy, we have put together this document in an attempt to help you with your stay here. Let’s have a look. Ostrava, where conference is happening this year, is a city in the north-east of the Czech Republic and is the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is 15 km from the border with Poland. In terms of both population and area Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic, the second largest city in Moravia, and the largest city in Czech Silesia. It straddles the border of the two historic provinces of Moravia and Silesia. Although Ostrava is mostly known for mining and the heavy industry it is also popular for hosting the biggest music event in Czech republic Colors of Ostrava.

transportation You have lots of possibilities to get to Ostrava. Firstly, you can take the plane. You can go to Václav Havel Airport in Prague or Tuřany Airport in Brno. After that you can take the bus or train directly to Ostrava. It lasts about 3 hours. When you arrive at Václav Havel Airport in Prague, you have to go in front the terminal 1. There is the bus station where there is written “Airport express bus”. It is the direct line to the main train station, where you can take the train and go directly to Ostrava. Another possibility is to take the line 119 to “Nádraží Veleslavín” station. From there you can take the underground line A then switch to the line C at the “Museum” station and go to “Hlavní nádraží” station which is the main railway station. For the information on how to travel from Prague to Ostrava see the lines before. We do not recommend to take the bus from Prague to Ostrava as it is very expensive and the ride takes more than 5 hours. In case you are not traveling from Prague but rather from Brno read the following lines. If you reached Brno by plane, you will get to the airport Brno-Tuřany. From the airport you can take the bus line E76 which will take you to the main railway station. Since the railway station is currently being reconstructed we strongly recommend you to take the bus from Brno to Ostrava. The buses leave from the station Brno - Hotel Grand which can be easily reached from the railway station by walk. As soon as you get off the bus at the station “Hlavní nádraží” turn right and walk approximately 2 minutes to the bus station. It looks like a big parking lot with buses everywhere. From the station you can take Flixbus. Don’t forget to take your valid ISIC card since the students have 75 % discount for the traveling by train or bus.

Transportation to the venue Train station If you take the train to get to Ostrava, get off at station “Ostrava - Svinov” !! not the main train station. Awesome. Now you will find yourself standing on the platform. What next? Look around, until you find tall bridges with lots of cars, trams and buses on them, approximately 300m from the train station. Can you see them? Great, then let’s go! That’s where the tram stop is. A sign, indicating that you chose the correct way is a cobblestone path. As soon as you come to the bridges, take the stairs to the first floor and find a sign saying: “Tramvaj směr Ostrava” (Ostrava direction) from where number 7 leaves (it must have the end station stated as Výškovice. After approximately 9 minutes of ride, get out at the station “SPORT ARENA”. You will see one of the members of OC in a colored T-shirt who will guide you for the rest of the way to the Clarion Congress hotel. Bus station If you take the bus to get to Ostrava, you will leave it at station “ÚAN - Ústřední autobusové nádraží”. Than you need to take a tram, the tram station name is “Náměstí republiky.” You need to go to the underpass just right at the bus station and find tram direction “Tramvaj směr Poruba”, go up to the platform. Than you take tram number 11 (it must have the end station “Zábřeh”). After approximately 17 minutes of ride, get out at the station MĚSTSKÝ STADION. Clarion Congress hotel is right opposite the station. Also you will see one of the members of OC in a colored T-shirt. You will need a ticket for the tram, that can be paid via debit card (contactless) inside the tram. The ticket dispenser is the yellow box inside the tram, so just put your card close to the reader on the yellow box both when you get in and when you get out of the tram. Do this every time you take the tram. Other means of transportation: If you are driving a car on your own, ordering an uber or have any other means of getting to Conference, the address is Zkrácená 2703/84, CZ-700 30 Ostrava – Zábřeh, Česká republika.

Accomodation For your convenience, both accomodation and programme are arranged in Clarion Congress Hotel Ostrava - a 4-star hotel about 4 km from the city centre. Twin, double and triple rooms are available. The hotel has free Wi-Fi, as well as ADSL internet connection is available in the rooms.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided by the hotel.
Parking
Parking is possible by the hotel, but unfortunately it is payed. It costs 100 KÄ? per day. But we are going to discuss the issue with the and we will let you know in the whatsapp group or facebook participants group.

workshops A) Surgical suturing - Not only for future surgeons This workshop is going to bring you new skills in basic and also more advanced suture techniques, which can be used not only in operating theatre. B) Mining rescue team excursion - The exposition presents a unique collection of respiratory equipment, illustrating its development since 1883 to the present. Experienced mining rescue workers introduce technologies and experiences from underground rescue work to the visitors. Out of the others workshops is the mining rescue workshop. If you register for it, you will have to pay 100 czech crowns extra (4€) C) Advanced life support - Don’t be Basic ? Come to learn ALS on models from skilled and experienced lecturer. D) Basic approach (ABCDE) - The approach to all deteriorating or critically ill patients is the same. This workshop will show you how to proceed.
