Controlled Impact Interview with Glorio Yulianto Devotional by Alex Widjaja Highlights of 2015

IFGF Pinole Monthly Newsletter January 2016 JANUARY 2016 • 1

The world is turning at a blazing fast speed. Here we are in the year of 2016. Anytime we reach a turning point, a closing of a chapter of our lives and a start of another, we are reminded of how short our existence on this earth is and how quick the time of our lives pass us by. And how precious our time is, with nothing to waste or carelessly lived.

From Pastor’s Desk

Time is God’s given resource. So are health, finance, energy, friends and family, and a lot of other things that God has given us so we can live on earth according to His purpose. Yet, a lot of us find ourselves abusing, misusing and wasting away these resources either

unintentionally or carelessly. We lack self-control on how to wisely manage these resources so we can be prosperous in using them. Self-control is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit-empowered people live lives that are balanced, controlled and fulfilled. They continually strive to live their lives in such a way that are Christ-centered instead of self-centered. Self-centeredness leads to ‘out-of-controlness’. Christ-centeredness, on the other hand, leads us to a life of self-controlled-ness. This is a new season in your life. Let’s study the word of God on the subject of self-control. Let’s aim the goal this year to be more Christ-like and bring glory to His name by becoming a Christ-centered disciple. Happy New Year 2016! Ps.Sugi Hendric

Do you have any testimonies to share how God has helped you through all of this? Sure. First, I think it’s people. I’m blessed by people. I have a team of 12 and those people came to me by themselves. They wanted to be in the project by their own initiatives. They approached me and said, “Hey, I am interested in your project. Can I be a part of it? Can I work for you?” It’s a huge blessing because normally people have ideas and time but do not have the team to build it. So the team that I have right now is a blessing for me.

Speaking about people, you also lead one of the caregroups in Berkeley that is Heroes. How is it so far leading Heroes? It’s mostly men and sometimes they are quite hard to

Highlights of 2015 Can you believe it, 2015 has passed and now we are here given a new chapter to write! 2016 will be another great year for IFGF Pinole, but first, let us take a quick recap on what IFGF Pinole has accomplished in 2015.

JAN ‘15: PVHS or Open Arms Club Did you know that our church enjoys presenting the Gospel to the surrounding community? In January 2015, we have created a high school club at Pinole Valley High School to become an extension to the students in the area. Every Thursday, we have club meeting where the students can share their happiness and burden and learn more about the word of God. Want to be involved? Contact your leaders and ask more about the club!

MAR ‘15: Baptism One of our happiest moments is when we see our brothers and sisters surrender their live and soul to God, declaring that Jesus is the one and only God. During our retreats, 5 of our members got baptized. . If you ever decide to get baptist, feel free to reach out to anyone from our church to find out how to prepare for baptism and when the next retreat will be.

APR ‘15: Easter Play Pretty sure you did not miss our Easter Play! The Promise drama musical, produced and performed by our very own families and friends, drew large crowds as we celebrated the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The play was also a means to introduce the launch of our new Sunday morning service.

APR ‘15: Morning Service Launched We also launched a new morning service in conjunction with our mission to reach the locals in early April 2015. The morning service is held every Sunday at 10am at 880 Tennent Avenue. As of today, we have about 20-30 faithful members gathering every morning to worship and praise the Lord.

JUL ‘15: Nepal Care Nepal Care is our mission outreach program in Nepal. We sent volunteers from our church to help spreading the word of God to locals. This year, we managed to reach 25% increase in our number of church and completed our Earthquake aid program in July. Optimistic for a bright future, we purchased a land in Lete for our upcoming IFGF Lete. Let’s keep on praying for God’s presence among our churches in Nepal and that God may increase the numbers of people who come to the Lord.

OCT ‘15: South Bay Service Launched Also this year, we launched a new service at South Bay area. So if you go to SJSU, USF, or AAU, or live and work in the area, you should give this branch of ours a shot. Our newly launched South Bay Service is dedicated especially for you guys. This service will soon to be called the IFGF Pinole in South Bay Campus branch. The service is held every Sunday at 10.30am at 550 East Remmington Drive, Sunnyvale.

Sounds like a great year, isn’t it? With a whole new blank page to write on, let’s make sure we create a bigger, better history in 2016! Let’s come together and anticipate more of God’s work for our church across all of our campuses and may His name be even more glorified. Happy New Year Pinole, Genesis Team JANUARY 2016 • 07
