JOURNEY OF MY ARCHITECTURE

INTERNSHIP
MWA ARCHITECT

My team welcomed me with open arms from the very beginning of my internship. I was fortunate to have the support of Ar Min, who was genuinely invested in my growth and believed in my potential. I also had a friend in Joanne, who consistently offered a helping hand and made sure I was doing well. Not to mention, Dory, the office cat, became our adorable little therapist, brightening the workplace with her presence.
SKECHUP MODELLING

My knowledge and skills grew significantly throughout my internship I gained valuable expertise, particularly in software like AutoCAD and SketchUp, with guidance from my colleagues. We were also given opportunities to learn beyond the office, especially during site visits One of the most memorable experiences was the 6-day study trip to Bangkok, Thailand, where we had the chance to immerse ourselves in the local culture and society. I have a photo of Ar Min explaining the materials used at the Windshell Naradhiwas, as well as a picture of us exploring various sites in Bangkok.

I am truly grateful for everyone’s support, and I knew from the very beginning that I was in the right place From lunch breaks to tea time, I had the chance to connect with them on a deeper level as we shared stories and created lasting memories together

6 Days of Study Trip to Bangkok, Thailand
by Nur Iffa Zalika Binti Abdul Karim
Day 1
We arrived at the Don Mueang airport and directly went to the hotel and checked in. After that, (1) we walk down Bangkok Street and explore Bangkok Street at night with a glimpse of the culture city on our way to a restaurant not far from the hotel for dinner. (2)I enjoyed my first pad thai from Usman Restaurant

Day 2

The first stop on our project tour is the EKAR office (3) The director was explaining to us about the concept of the office which is one of it is to promote nature into the office. The installation of a complex but good mechanism in the space is to reduce the use of space and make the space have more than one function, such as (4) a timber wall that can be rotated and become a table for gather.
(5) The Windshell Naradhiwas is a new luxury high rise condominium located in the heart of Bangkok designed by local architect Kevin Mark Low. By using glass and local materials, the architect hopes to promote natural lighting and ventilation. I like the building's detailing like (6) louvres in most of the side in the building to keep allow the air flow.
(7) The Samsen Street Hotel catches my eye because of the soft bright colour and structure that appears simple but complex in the detailing, particularly the facade. What I like best about this hotel is (8) the balcony, which allows people to enjoy a big screen movie together around the courtyard, which can help to grow the community from there. (9) It was also my first time seeing a floor guide line for guests to follow instead of a signboard on the wall.

Day 3
Going out to see the social scene in Bangkok. (1) We went to IconSiam, the "Mother of All Malls" and one of Asia's largest malls. IconSiam has a great look in expressing Bangkok's culture, history, and society through interior detailing while remaining modern and fancy.
(2) We didn't want to miss out on the street food in Bangkok, so we had it for dinner. It's all about following your nose and choosing the most delectable scent (3) Go with a TukTuk at night

Day 4

2 3 4 5 6

Day 5

Its time to visit the weekend market! (4) We go to Chatuchak to buy gifts for family and friends After that, (5) we go sightseeing around Bangkok, exploring more of the city's culture and social activities Im interested in the causes of journey affecting traffic on foot, unsafe footpaths, or other factors influencing people's decision on footpath use for commuters, as well as innovative approaches that merchant owners have taken to make the most of the limited space for sales on footpaths To create an environment on the street that is unique enough to be known as the city of “street food” (6) We also visited the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre (BACC) to see the large circular building that houses an extensive contemporary art collection showcasing local and international artists, as well as the MBK mall, which is located right next to the BACC

(7) We go to the theme park and enjoy our last day before going home tomorrow morning and (8) we also went to The Commons to take a look on the beauty of the building while some of us having their dinner there

Day 6

Time to go home! I am massively grateful for this opportunity to travel to Thailand, the 2nd country on my bucket list, as part of my internship with good people from Minwee & SML Architects I always with a light heart to learn about the culture of a specific area and plan a building based on their behaviour Thailand has a lot of things to explore and I wish to come again soon
