«Urban contradiction» is the first photography exhibition of Eirene Evripidou. Living between London and Athens, Eirene is in a constant search of the contradictions hidden in the urban landscape. Her work focuses on the elements that make a modern city more colourful, beautiful and optimistic, those elements that bridge the gap between urban reality and the magic of nature. It is in contrast with the harshness and pain of everyday life, in contrast with the melancholic gray cityscape.
Her camera lens works as a kaleidoscope. It isolates and magnifies subjects, giving them new meanings and reflections, through a journey under the sun. The drops of rain in a park in London are converted into a mirror that reflects the sunlight and the colors of life; a flower on the sidewalk of a street in Athens becomes a beacon of hope.
