US GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS FIELD DAY OF AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY
The Kyrgyz Agro-Input Enterprise Development Project, financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IFDC, in cooperation with Eurasia Group Kyrgyzstan LLC, is organizing a field day of agricultural machinery demonstrations at “Shumkar” farm in Ivanovka village of Issyk-Ata Rayon, Chui Oblast. The field day will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 10:00. Journalists interested in this event are welcome to attend. Field day participants will be able to learn the main characteristics, advantages and benefits of new agricultural machinery. The field day will showcase the impact agricultural machinery and the adoption of other modern technologies can have on the cultivation of corn and sunflower. Participants will also visit the demonstration field that was sown with new corn and sunflower hybrids, teaching the participants about the genetic capacities of new hybrids of corn and sunflower, planting techniques, seeding rates and modern soil preparation techniques. The project is a public-private-partnership, under the framework of USAID’s Global Development Alliance with the Eurasia Group. John Deere Company (USA) will display its machinery at the field day. The exhibits will include modern tractors, disk harrows, seeding machines and cultivators that perform cost-effective field operations in compliance with the highest agronomic demands. Mr. Nurlan Duisheev, Acting Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Temir Sariev, Acting Minister of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Pat Shapiro, Country Director for USAID in the Kyrgyz Republic, farmers and representatives of local government, agricultural cooperatives, financial institutions, international organizations, farms and service-providing companies will attend the field day.
