LETTER FROM THE
PRESIDENT
Our chapter hosted three successful events this winter, in spite of Mother Nature’s fondness for Nor’easters. If you missed them, you can catch event photos in this issue in the In Review pages at the end of the magazine. We are looking forward to new events over the next quarter including our Boston Design Week program, Finding the Perfect Art For You on April 5; Go Green on May 17; and a soon-to-be-announced event in June! Be sure to check out our member events in Upcoming Events. I look forward to seeing you there! We hope you enjoy this issue as you review the work of your fellow designers in our region. I’d like to point out that we are always looking for new projects and ideas for our magazine and can really use all of your help in suggesting content. We are committed to making your Membership a valuable and worthwhile experience, one that you take pride in and get satisfaction from. Sincerely,

A NEW VIBE
for a downsizing tribe

downsizing with style When a Weston father of two recently wanted to downsize, he retained Jan’s services to help him display his vast cultural art collection tastefully in the smaller space without making the new home feel cramped or cluttered. Jan used subtle palettes to accentuate the bold powerful colors of the tribal art collected from around the world. Showcase pieces included a 19th century Asian red lacquer ladder and stool and a beautiful wooden antique workbench that complimented the Amazon Indian feathers and Arapaho armbands. Although the family gave up the size of their former home, they did not compromise in style - thanks to Jan’s savvy design decisions. The 17-year old daughter’s room tells a coming of age tale when her prior “little girl” look was transformed into a sleek, a-typical bedroom space. A guacamole colored “Nook Bed” by Blu Dot has the casual look of a chaise which opened the floor to allow the daughter to lounge around with friends. Another piece in the room that adds to its sleeknees is a chic open-shelved night stand that adds purpose and style. An oil painting by the late Zygmund Jankowski of Gloucester and the “Puzzle Multi” rug by Edward Barber and Jaw Osgerby from The Rug CO. anchor youthful color to the sophisticated blue/gray toned walls for a look the daughter calls the perfect blend of “fresh and fun.”
