IESE Business School

In 1959, a small group of graduates from IESE’s first-ever program decided to embark on a venture to stay connected and continue to learn and grow: together they laid the foundations of what today is the IESE Alumni Association. More than 60 years later, what started as a small endeavor has flourished into a worldwide network of over 50,000 alumni who live and work in more than 140 countries.

Over the years, the Alumni Association has transformed the lives and careers of its members, forged powerful professional networks, driven charitable initiatives and been a firsthand witness of the positive mark IESE graduates have made in the world. Positive impact, solidarity and a spirit of service are not only cornerstones of IESE’s mission; they are an essential part of the Alumni Association, an organization that works with and for its alumni and aspires to cultivate collaborations among all its members.

Personalized career advice Our career experts form an international team with broad experience in executive search, human resources and coaching. The team includes 30 career advisors in 17 countries, giving them a deep awareness of different local markets. As part of their affiliation fee, members receive a free advisory session every year to share their career challenges with one of our professionals.

Meet our coaches MARTA GIL-CASARES has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, serving as a career advisor and executive coach for both corporate and institutional clients, including senior executives and independent board members. She is also a professor of career planning in several universities and business schools and the managing partner of Gil-Casares Executive Search.

LARS MAYDELL has worked with more than 300 executives from a broad range of companies, government entities, NGOs and professional associations since 2012. His clients include C-suite executives, owners of family businesses, and partners in service companies.

He firmly believes people have the potential and necessary skills to address their professional challenges and grow as leaders.

Explore your career options As a member of the Alumni Association, you’ll be able to join online and on-site career workshops, where you’ll explore the most important facets of an executive career path. You’ll have access to career-catalyzing resources, from mock interviews with headhunters to professionalmanagement tools to maximize your employability. You’ll also learn how to turn your network into a powerful source of job opportunities and develop an action plan to bolster your personal brand.

The calendar of online and on-campus career workshops is continuously updated on the Alumni portal and the Alumni app.

Professional Transition Program The Professional Transition Program (PTP) prepares you to set out on a career paths by helping you define your value proposition, outline your professional ambitions, strengthen your personal brand, and develop your search strategy. You’ll gain practical tools to map out your plan and reach your explicit goals.

The program to keep you informed and connected The Alumni Association delivers more than 250 annual sessions in 80 countries through its flagship Alumni Learning Program (ALP). These high-impact sessions feature the insights of IESE professors, industry experts and top-level executives, who analyze and explore the most critical challenges facing global leaders, from technological advances and leadership trends to the latest global economic shifts.

Imparted throughout the academic year, ALP sessions attract more than 25,000 Alumni and feature nearly 20,000 invited guests in sessions in cities around the world.

How can I expand and enrich my professional network?

The Alumni Association is your key to a world of contacts, opening the door to a network of more than 50,000 high-caliber professionals who live and work around the world.

Your regional chapter, at your service No matter where you are, our alumni network is always close at hand. Join the regional chapter closest to you. You have 38 groups to choose from, all aimed at helping you stay connected to the IESE community. Organized by geographic location or industry, they host both ongoing learning activities and social events, such as sports tournaments, solidarity events and networking dinners.

The Global Alumni Reunion (GAR) is the Association’s flagship event of the year, where the pride of forming part of the IESE family is palpable. Over three days, the GAR showcases global luminaries from the realms of economics, business and leadership, who share their unique perspectives and insights. Free of charge for Alumni members, this exclusive event offers an ideal platform for inspiration and reflection.

The GAR also organizes activities based on the offerings of the host city, including company visits to the world’s most innovative firms, networking events and social-impact activities like the annual GAR 10-kilometer run and solidarity sports tournaments.

Our relationship with our alumni doesn’t end when their program reaches its end. At IESE, we aspire to create lifelong connections with our graduates.

Online faculty consultations An open-door policy is one of IESE’s defining characteristics.

Our professors can serve as an ideal sounding board on critical leadership issues, from business creation, incentive policies and executive expatriation to reading lists when you want to delve deeper on a specific subject. As a member of the Alumni Association, you’ll have access to an online service to make brief consultations to IESE professors, who respond to your queries in the shortest timeframe possible.

Alumni mentoring Are you looking for a mentor in your sector? Or perhaps you want to share your expertise with other IESE alumni?

Whatever your case, there’s a place for you in IESE’s Alumni Mentoring Program. To date, the platform has served as a bridge for more than 2,000 alumni, helping graduates maximize their potential, develop new skills and advance on their career path.

As a mentee, you’ll gain advice and insights from experts in your field. As a mentor, you’ll be able to invest your time in shaping future leaders by sharing your unique perspectives with fellow IESE graduates. Topics of interest often focus on personal growth, international job opportunities, relocation challenges, entrepreneurship or reverse mentoring, when roles are reversed and senior executives learn from their junior mentors.

To date, WeGrow has resulted in 40 mentors, 350 mentoring sessions and €9 million in new financing rounds.

Finaves and the Business Angels and Family Office Network: start-up funding for entrepreneurs For entrepreneurs As a member of the Alumni Association, you’ll gain preferential access to seed capital managed by IESE, Finaves and the Business Angels and Family Office Network. Since its creation, Finaves has invested nearly €15 million in more than 40 startups founded or managed by IESE alumni, helping to generate roughly 2,600 jobs. For its part, the Business Angels Network has invested more than €45 million in over 225 start-ups.

More information For investors During your first year of membership, the Alumni Association offers you exclusive and complimentary access to one of the largest and most consolidated networks: IESE’s Business Angels and Family Office Network.

With more than 1,500 projects presented, nearly 150 forums organized and over €50 million generated in direct investments, the network serves as a hub for more than 200 entrepreneurs and investors to explore synergies to support the creation of new ventures.
