ongtime Colton resident Summer Zamora Jorrin, has announced her candidacy for City Council for the first time this upcoming November. Zamora Jorrin is currently heavily involved within the community and serves as chair for the Colton Recreation & Parks Commission and the Colton Parks & Recreation Foundation; as vice-chair for CJUSD Measure G Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee; as co-chair of the Academic & Career Readiness sub-committee for the CJUSD Community Cabinet, and is a booster club member and classroom volunteer at Grant Elementary School. She also serves as a board member for the Colton T-Ball League. ARMC to hold free screening and stroke assessment event
A
rrowhead Regional Medical Center will be hosting a free Screening and Stroke Assessment Event on Saturday, May 3, in ARMC’s Outpatient Care Center lobby. Participants will be given an assessment by a health care professional of their risk for stroke using screening results. The event begins at 10 a.m. Stroke is the fourth-leading cause of death in the United States. Learn what you can do to lower your risk of stroke and how to recognize the warning signs. Screenings will include height, weight, blood pressure, body mass index, blood sugar and cholesterol; nutrition counseling and diabetes education will also be provided. (Due to time constraints, only the first 200 attendees will be screened.) No babysitting services will be provided. ARMC is located at 400 North Pepper Avenue, just north of Interstate 10 in Colton. Meet and Greet with Randall Ceniceros
SEA Colton chapter unanimously endorsed Randall Ceniceros for School Board. No other board members have earned their early support. “It is a tremendous honor to earn school employees endorsement. I am a former 19 year TEAMSTERS member. My brothers and sisters have said in a resounding voice they want me to stay on the CJUSD Board of Education,” says Ceniceros. “They provide a valuable service for our students from the time they board a bus until they arrive home.” Ceniceros will host a meet & greet on May 8 to talk about improving morale and conditions at the work place.
