NUEVAS INCORPORACIONES EN LA ESCUELA DE ARTES Y HUMANIDADES / NEW APPOINTMENTS IN THE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES La Escuela de Artes y Humanidades es un componente central de la misión del IE, dado que imparte cursos a todos los programas de grado y posgrado. De esta manera, todos los estudiantes del IE, indistintamente de su campo de estudio, tienen la posibilidad de adquirir unos sólidos fundamentos en cultura general. Con la incorporación de Banafsheh Farhangmehr, Ángeles Figueroa-Alcorta y Fernando Dameto, la Escuela de Artes y Humanidades pretende fomentar las áreas de Humanidades, Artes Liberales y Relaciones Internacionales en la universidad, en el Business School y en el Law School, así como fortalecer las diversas actividades culturales y académicas que ofrece el IE. The School of Arts and Humanities is at the very heart of IE’s mission, as the arts and humanities courses it offers form part of all the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University. Thus, all our students, regardless of their chosen field of study, get the opportunity to acquire a solid foundation of general knowledge. Banafsheh Farhangmehr, Ángeles Figueroa-Alcorta, and Fernando Dameto will be joining the IE School of Arts and Humanities, enhancing the fields of Humanities, Liberal Arts, and International Relations within IE University, IE Business School, and the IE Law School. This new team of young professionals will also help promote the wide variety of both cultural and academic events offered at IE. Después de obtener su licenciatura en Economía en Teherán, su pasión por aprender otras culturas e idiomas le llevó a París a estudiar Civilización Francesa en la Universidad de la Sorbona. Para ampliar su conocimiento y habilidades se trasladó a Madrid a estudiar el Master en Marketing de IE Business School. Ha trabajado en el campo de marketing en el sector de los cosméticos y será responsable de las relaciones externas a través de distintos canales de comunicación. Farhangmehr (right, in the foto) was born and raised in Iran. After obtaining her bachelor degree in Economics in Tehran, her passion to learn about different cultures and places took her to Paris to study French at Sorbonne University. To further broaden her knowledge and skills, she decided to pursue her Master’s degree in Marketing at IE in Madrid. She later gained immense exposure and experience in the field of marketing while working in the beauty and cosmetic sector. She joins IE School of Arts & Humanities as the External
Relations Coordinator in the Dean’s Office and will be in charge of the school’s external relations through diverse channels of communication. Having studied at IE herself, and been exposed to different people and cultures, she is confident she will bring new ideas and add value to her new team and work at IE. Fernando Dameto, subdirector de Humanidades del IE School of Arts & Humanities / Deputy Director of Humanities El nuevo subdirector de Humanidades del IE School of Arts & Humanities estudió Humanidades en la Universidad San Pablo-CEU y posteriormente realizó nuestro Master in International Management, graduándose este verano. Su carrera profesional se ha desarrollado en empresas de ámbito cultural, CaixaForum, Sotheby’s y FMR-ART’E’. Dameto, the new Deputy Director of Humanities at the IE School of Arts & Humanities, studied Humanities at Universidad San Pablo-CEU, followed by IE’s Master in International Management, from which he graduated this summer. His professional career has developed in cultural environment enterprises: CaixaForum, Sotheby’s and FMR- ART’E’.
Ángeles Figueroa-Alcorta, subdirectora del Área de Relaciones Internacionales de IE School of Arts & Humanities / Deputy Director of International Relations Originaria de Buenos Aires (Argentina), si bien ha vivido parte de su vida en Miami, Estados Unidos. Es licenciada en Relaciones Internacionales y Ciencias Políticas por la Florida International University (FIU) de Miami. Antes de trasladarse a Madrid a principios de 2009, ocupaba el puesto de coordinadora de Programas de Educación en el extranjero en la FIU. Es graduada del IE en el Master in International Relations. Originally from Buenos Aires, but raised in the U.S., Figueroa-Alcorta holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami. Before moving to Madrid in early 2009, she was Coordinator of Education Abroad Programs at FIU. A former IE student and graduate of the Master in International Relations (class of 2010), she is now Deputy Director of International Relations at IE School of Arts & Humanities. Figueroa-Alcorta has also worked within the NGO sector in Spain.
