Well, Covid happened. Leadership Goodlettsville salutes the Class of 2020, 2021 and 2022 which happened to be one and the same class of dedicated people who live in, work in or serve Goodlettsville. What an interesting and unprecedented time for families, workforces, churches, restaurants, schools and of course, nonprofits across America. Leadership Goodlettsville was no exception to both the ‘pause’ and the lack of donations which affected our program. In fact, the Washington Post estimated that ‘if a business is still closed in the summer of 2020, it’s more than likely closed permanently’.
2020, as was recommended by the Board, joined the position of ‘pause’. After that, closures were on a month by month basis as directed by the CDC and governmental mandates. As 2021 approached, the decision was made by the Board to ‘pause’ again that year as the pandemic was in full swing affecting many of us and our loved ones. Businesses, schools and governmental businesses were sensitive to visitors and visiting local facilities is the focus of our organization. However, during 2020 and 2021, the Leadership Goodlettsville Executive Director, Randy White, and Board of Directors met on a regular basis via ZOOM to both evaluate the current situation and to plan for the future. The class was patient and continued their enthusiasm for when the pause would pass so they could reap the benefits of this amazing opportunity. And pass it did, but not until 2022.
In 2020, the Class met twice before shutdowns became more common than not. Then the Class of
Nonprofits are the backbone of our communities and the Covid pandemic affected everyone and every business in many ways. To reflect on
philanthropy, nonprofits particularly felt the pinch while handling the decline in funding which is required to make this program successful. The cancellation of fundraising via community businesses and private donations further exacerbated the situation and strained financial stability. Also the unfortunate passing of three of Leadership Goodlettsville’s founders, Jerry Garrett, Barbara Haynes and David Wilson added to our personal loss and the loss of institutional knowledge and experience. So as did the Phoenix, Leadership Goodlettsville is becoming a symbol of renewal and regeneration as changes are occurring to foster success.
during the transition. The Board of Directors is also strategically enlarging to provide direction, experience, fundraising and leadership for the organization. The Alumni are such an important piece of this organization and Lori Cordell is planning a brand new and innovative annual dinner, the Barbara Haynes Alumni Dinner, scheduled for this fall for both fellowship and to provide valuable communication with this important group. The Leadership Goodlettsville website is being reviewed for enhancements. Continuous improvement is the goal and we salute the Class of 2020, 2021 and 2022 for your perseverance in the three year pause by completing the six month journey and now become Alumni.
Executive Director Randy White, who has the heart of a servant and unwavering passion for our organization guiding us through these unusual times, resigned his position in 2022. The Board of Directors hired David Brooks as the new Leadership Goodlettsville Executive Director and the two are working together beautifully

I am an active, task-oriented person both personally and professionally. I enjoy running, reading and raising my two children with my husband Cory. I lived in Goodlettsville the first eight years of my life and have deep family ties in the community. This is where I started in church at Connell United Methodist Church and began my love for sports at Moss Wright Park. I started working with the City of Goodlettsville in 2012 and have worked in the Parks and Recreation Department and currently hold the position of City Recorder in the Administration Department. I am a graduate of UT Martin with a BS Degree in Health and Human Performance and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I enjoy running into familiar faces as well as meeting new ones.
Christ follower first and foremost. Husband, father and grandfather. Live serving at my church, Long Hollow Baptist and with my church members in our community and beyond. Worked in the electrical field for almost 20 years. Started my own business in 2002 providing man power at distribution centers. Currently investing in various projects in Sumner County.
Kelsey Brandle is the business office manager at Jubilee Hills Senior Living. Although Kentucky bred, she has always had a strong connection to Tennessee. Kelsey graduated at Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in business administration with an emphasis in human resource management. She has proudly served the Goodlettsville area for four years in healthcare. Her passion for serving others is exemplified through her work. Kelsey lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky with her loving husband, Zach, and Jubilee Hill’s therapy dog, Baxter. Her goal is to continue growing at Jubilee Hills while making an impact in the growing community.
I worked my way through college by tending, waiting table and working for a local landscape company in Knoxville. I moved back here in 2001 and started my own landscape business. I enjoyed that and did well but came to a point where I needed a change. My dad had been in the Real Estate and Auction business for most of my life, so I decided to go fulltime Real Estate in 2013. For 5 years I was the Principal Broker of the company and did everything. I left the company for a year and came back in July. I will be attending Auction School in January and look forward to what the future holds here in Goodlettsville.
I moved to Goodlettsville in 1994 (4th Grade). After graduating high school, I attended University of Tennessee. I took an entry-level job as an ink technician at Cartridge World. I was able to grow within the company and become a part owner of the company. Since 2008 we have grown sales and completely evolved to fit an ever-changing market. I take pride in providing a quality product and superior customer service. During this time, I got married and had two daughters. I always try to balance my life so that I can be available to my family and still be successful at my job. I purchased the Goodlettsville house that I grew up in and am trying to become deeply rooted in this community.
Melisa Hucks serves as the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Human Services. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Lipscomb University. She is a graduate of the Tennessee Government Management and Executive Institutes and the Naval Post Graduate School, Center for Homeland Security- Executive Leaders Program. Melisa lives in Goodlettsville with her two sons, Easton and Griffin. She is an active member of Metro Baptist Church.
I am a dreamer. God has blessed me with this spirit and has used my ability to follow through on those dreams to create ideas, programs, products and campaigns back home in New Mexico. I was the “go-to gal” for all things related to kids and youth programs. I move to Tennessee to pursue my other passion, country music. I have always had a heart for the up and comers. My company Monarch Marketing, will promote and highlight some of my favorite songwriters and artists in both Country and Christian Music. My husband Matt and I are soon opening an authentic Barn Dance Venue right here in Goodlettsville. I am a graduate of New Mexico State University with a BA Degree in Broadcast Journalism. Matt and I are proud parents of five children. Being newer to the area, I am looking forward on meeting new business contacts and most of all making some new great friends.
I grew up in Goodlettsville. I went to the University of Tennessee after graduating from Beech High School. After graduating with my Communication Degree from UT, I worked as an IT Recruiter for 1 year prior to enrolling in UT Law School. I graduated law school in May of 2017 and started working at my father’s (Russell Freeman) law firm, Freeman & Bracey, PLC. I married my husband Cullen Park in January 2016 and we recently welcomed Henry Park into the world on January 16, 2019.
Lifelong resident of Tennessee with 35 years in banking, half which have been with The Farmers Bank where I have had the opportunity to be actively involved in the civic life of those communities. In addition to serving in civic roles, I have been blessed to participate in various ministries including Prison Ministry, Gideons International and serve as a deacon at Long Hollow Baptist Church. Second to serving our Lord, I am honored to be a husband, dad and “Bogey” by sweetest little foster child.
Matthew 20:28 “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve......”
Micah has lived in the Nashville area since 1990 and graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor’s degree in social work. Following college, Micah spent a year in Russia and Uzbekistan working with churches and orphanages. He returned from oversees to get married and is a proud father of four wonderful kids. Micah spent six years working as a children’s case manager before transitioning into the real estate business in 2006. He enjoys coaching one of his daughters on a youth soccer team.
I am a people person and I enjoy engaging with people in my community. I have worked in the professional field but most of my life raising my kids, volunteering at their schools and volunteering in community and my church. I served as PTO President for 4 years at Goodlettsville Elementary School.
Personally, I love to cook, sports, the mountains and the wonderful relationships God has blessed me with...family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. Professionally, when I entered the Banking Industry over 38 years ago, someone told me, “The more you know, the more valuable you are.” I never forgot it. I set out to learn all I could. Spent five years as a Teller, twenty five years in Operations Management, eight years as a Personal Banker and my current role as a Consumer Relationship Manager / Business Development.
Born and raised in Middle Tennessee, I am happy to raise my own family here. After graduating from MTSU, I worked hard, rose through the ranks an now serve as Audit Principal at Crosslin, PLLC. At Crosslin, I am part of the leadership team, principal group and chair the company’s fun committee. Over the past several years, I have received numerous awards including Employee of the Year (Company Culture) from the Nashville Business Journal, Delta Zeta Greek Women of the Year (TN Chapter) and a finalist for the Nashville Emerging Leader Awards. My greatest accomplishment is being a wife and a mom.
Being a 7th generation Goodlettsvillian, Cathy is certainly proud of her family roots. Her family was one of the original settlers of Goodlettsville, and also one of the founding families of Connell Memorial United Methodist Church, which she is also a member. Discovering and learning the history of the area has always been a passion of hers and she feels that preserving that history is the most important part of the town while also looking to the future. Cathy is a Certified Chef and owner of Saunders Catering Company, which she started in 1991. She loves to see her cooking bring joy to people. Cathy is currently restoring a post Civil War farmhouse and its land in Bethpage that she calls home.
Growing up I always knew I would be in the Army and I would work for Edward Jones, both are family traditions. Today I am a Captain in the Tennessee National Guard as well as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. Two careers where I get immense satisfaction from serving others. I am married to my beautiful and amazing wife Therese and we have two great kids, Nathan and Hannah. Nathan is a senior at Beech High School and Hannah is in the 7th grade.
Kelly’s ambition for her career has never wavered. Her passion for seniors is well-known in the Goodlettsville area.
