or educator and antique collector Mr. John K. Meixell who died last year. The Society was fortunate to be the recipient of his bequest of antique furnishings and toys from his collection. Some of these items will be on display in the Ralston-McKeen House. Demonstrations And Activities Craftsmen in period dress will be demonstrating a variety of skills such as antique furniture carpentry, weaving, spinning and wood carving. The hearth cooking demonstration will make your mouth water. In the Monocacy School, visit the costumed “teacher” to hear about one room schools and the education they offered. Listen to the strolling carolers for a dose of holiday cheer. Children will enjoy the “make-n-take” crafts. While in the Ralston-McKeen House, take a peek at the restoration work in progress in the kitchen wing. Society members can explain the historical sleuthing involved in restoring a 220 year old home. Craft Show and Lunch Crafters and artists will be offering unique handmade crafts and gifts, such as baskets, necklaces, cards, soaps, cookie cutters, ornaments, jewelry boxes, folk art, and fishing lures in the Wolf Academy and the Monocacy School. The Society will be selling hand crafted wreaths and swags to benefit the RalstonMcKeen Restoration Fund. The Daily Grind will be selling beverages and delicious food items in the Monocacy School. You can eat in, or purchase a gourmet lunch to enjoy as you travel between the houses.
