How do we know?

• Cabot returned to the desert to live full-time around 1938.

• By the early 1940s he was well –established as a local fixture and was trading on the slogan “On the Desert Since 1913.”

• He had established the “Cabot Yerxa look” – a hybrid western costume that fitted both his personality and his lifestyle.

• His Trading Post was a tourist’s dream come true and featured a museum of curiosities, Indian arts and crafts and a snake pit. “Desert snakes, trained chuckwallas etc, - see ‘em alive 10¢.”
