Wages and working hours

Goal:

Our goal is that everyone who works in factories that manufacture goods for IDÉ Group should have good working conditions and a salary they can live on.

Status:

We are aware that our purchasing practices can affect wages and working hours in a negative direction. This is a topic we are often in dialogue with customers, who press us on price and delivery time.

Implemented measures:

We have participated in "Living Wage” webinars organized by Ethical Trade Norway.

Based on this knowledge, we’ve started dialogue with 2 of our closest partners regarding living wages.

As we do not have ownership in any factories, we find it difficult to influence wages.

In Bangladesh, we have chosen to reduce our collaboration to 1 partner. This partner has a Swedish owner, who himself has invested and built 2 factories. The factories have advanced machines, which require trained workers. They have a nursery and their own nurse. All the workers are local and permanently employed. With this partner, we have started a dialogue about salaries.

Goal for next reporting period:

Gain even deeper knowledge of how our purchasing practices affect low wages and involuntary overtime. We shall communicate this to a greater extent with our customers. Our aim is to improve our purchasing routines, so that we do not contribute to negative consequences.

We shall be a fair partner and we care about our selected partners working conditions. We will continue to inform our customers about the negative consequence pressure on price and delivery time can have on low wages and involuntary overtime work.
