Institutional Advancement Assistant Kathe Manegold Biersach ’64 and Bill Biersach ’63 tell us that they recently traveled to Goteborg, Sweden to visit Katy Gutschenritter Nicholson ’64 and her husband, Nigel. They then drove to Oslo, Norway to visit AFS student Grete Raeder Østby ’62 and her husband, Jon Birgir Østby. Katy’s business is intercultural training and coaching for global corporations. Nigel has recently retired from his job as a civil engineer, specializing in water systems. Grete is a retired teacher of high school French and English. They found she has an amazing recall of 1960’s songs and television advertising jingles, as well as all the lyrics to the ULS school song. Her husband, Jon, is the former head of all the museums, libraries, and archives of Norway. “We were the very fortunate recipients of a wonderful, day long, personal tour of many historic sites in Oslo. Needless to say, we all shared many fond memories of our ULS olden days,” they write. Charlie Brumder ’68 has joined the Children’s Hospital Foundation as development director. Charlie will focus his efforts on critical needs at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, including expansion of the hospital’s surgical space, emergency depar tment, and Herma Heart Center.
Best wishes to Bruce Gallagher ’78 and Rebecca DeMarco, who were married on October 2nd at the home of Bruce’s sister, Julie ’83. Sister Kathy ’75 wants to point out to everyone that Bruce got in just under the wire of his 50th birthday! John Koepke ’91 continues to operate Koepke Farms, Inc. in partnership with his father and uncles, along with serving on the advisory board for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. John and his wife, Kim, have three boys – Auggie, Colton, and Samuel.
Ryan Olson ’93 recently purchased ABEE, Inc. (Adventure Based Experiential Educators). ABEE, Inc. is a full service challenge course company that builds ropes courses, zip lines, climbing walls, canopy tours, and adventure parks. They also provide training and equipment sales. Congratulations to Jim Barkow ’94 and Holly Lynn Siebers on their recent marriage. Holly and Jim were married April 9th on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii.
After honeymooning in Hawaii, they returned home to San Francisco where Holly is employed by AT&T Interactive and Jim is the co-founder of Longboard Media. Best wishes to Ruth Koepke ’94 and Cody Hiemke on their marriage April 8th. Ruth and Cody have a 10 acre sheep farm near Stoughton, WI. After completing graduate school at the University of Louisville, Lauren Boyler ’01 accepted a position with the Aurora Sports Medicine Institute in Milwaukee. She is contracted to Marquette University as a licensed athletic trainer, primarily supporting the men’s soccer program. Best wishes to Katie Moranchek ’02 and Geoff Wold ’02 on their recent wedding on August 21st in the Caribbean. Katie is a graphic artist at Digital Edge, and Geoff is a sales manager with Apple Automotive. They are making their home in Oconomowoc. Justin Booth ’03 recently enlisted in the United States Air Force. He will begin basic training shortly. Congratulations to Ryan White ’03 and his wife Danielle on their October 1st wedding!

Adam Wegner ’97 is currently in his third year of medical school at Vanderbilt University and doing his clinical rotations. Adam is a 2001 graduate of the College of Wooster. Best wishes to Gretta Schmirler ’98 as she heads off to Pharmacy school!
John Fritzke ’99 recently began his pursuit of a law degree at Marquette University. In his spare time, John teaches sixth grade math at ULS, and is our Athletic Director. Pat Georgeson ’99 just received his nursing degree from UWMilwaukee. Congratulations, Pat!
While on break from Rennselar Polytechnical Institute in Troy, NY this summer, Tor Hagemann ’09 continued to bless our technology depar tment with his help for the second consecutive year. Thank you, Tor; your skills are greatly appreciated!
Former faculty member, Ellen Langill, recently wrote: “I had the great pleasure of teaching at ULS from 1971-1989, and have many great memories from those days. I was recently with a group of some of my favorite alumni and they urged me to send in an update about my ‘post-ULS life.’ So, I agreed to do so…. Thanks and best wishes to ULS!”
Congratulations to Marc Reese ’04 and Cathi Brownell ’05 who were married in Oconomowoc on June 19th. Cathi and Marc are making their home in Indianapolis where Cathi is attending Indiana University School of Medicine. Marc received his masters from Penn State.
Kyle Duke ’05 has been accepted into the graduate program at the Illinois Institute of Design in Chicago, beginning in January. Kyle was the only 2010 graduate accepted into the program this year! Ryan Edmund Myhre into their family on February 3rd. Their daughter, Hannah, is very excited to be a “big sister.” Congratulations!
Jalissa Booth ’07 is in her senior year at UW-Stout, majoring in Art Eduction.
Emily Metz ’05 and Joshua Meredith were married on August 14th at the Oconomowoc Lake Club. Joshua is a recent graduate of Syracuse University School of Law, and Emily is in her second year at Seton Hall University Law School. Congratulations!
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in film and television from Boston College, Erich Onzik ’05 traveled many parts of the world and wrote a screenplay. He has recently returned to Wisconsin. Thank you to Mike Tonsfeldt ’06 for again helping out this year as the on-site coordinator for the Barn Sale!
Tiffany Bava Bernard ’07 currently lives in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada with husband Nathaniel, and their 10-month old daughter, Eliana Grace.Tiffany is enjoying being a full time mom to Eli, while Nat is a chief programmer and installer for a security company.
Dr. Ellen Langill was elected president of the Board of Curators of The State Historical Society of Wisconsin, effective July 1, 2010. The Society houses the largest North American History Library outside the Library of Congress, and also operates the State History Museum in Madison, as well as 13 historic sites around Wisconsin, including Old World and Pendarvis, etc. The Board of 24 curators consists of elected members as well as four state legislators – two from each party – and two gubernatorial appointees. An author of more than 20 books about business and legal history, including the City of Milwaukee’s official sesquicentennial history in 1996, Ellen teaches history at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She and her husband Ross live in Waukesha and have two daughters, Kjersten and Kari. She has many wonderful memories of teaching history and Latin at ULS, of Senior Seminars, coaching field hockey and basketball, and working with college guidance and sends fond greetings to former students.
