Chairman’s Message
Craig Corbett
Chairman of the Idaho Lottery Commission
Dear Idahoans,
In my hometown of Grace, our community of 915 citizens passed a $4.5 million school bond in 2017 to build a new elementary school. Nearly four years later, Black Canyon Elementary School will open the doors of this modern, beautiful facility to the community’s students.
School bonds place a heavy financial responsibility on the local citizenry. To help meet these local obligations, the Idaho Department of Education has a Bond Levy Equalization Support Program for qualified school bonds. Each year since 2009, the Idaho Lottery has provided one quarter of their annual dividend to help pay the interest on these locally passed school measures.
With their record setting dividend, the Idaho Lottery provided the Idaho Department of Education with $18,125,000 in funds solely for the benefit of making interest payments on bonds in the Gem State.
Over the last twelve years, the Idaho Lottery has provided $134,175,000 to help reduce local taxes by paying down interest on these bonds across all of Idaho. This is yet another way the Idaho Lottery is making good on its mission to benefit public schools and education in the State of Idaho.
The benefits provided to schools like the one in Grace, and others across Idaho, would not be possible without the tireless commitment of the Idaho Lottery employees, their commitment to integrity in the games they offer, and the vast network of retail establishments who offer their products.
Thanks a billion, Idaho!
Sincerely,
Craig Corbett
Chairman, Idaho Lottery Commission
