Idaho Lottery’s players affection for Scratch Games continued a trend seen from previous years. In many ways, it was a year of extremes, from cold and snowy winter nights to scorching hot summer days. Idaho Lottery Scratch Games captured this in 2021, with ticket sales increasing year-over-year by 24%, totaling $241.2 million. In a typical year, the Idaho Lottery issues about 52 Scratch Games, however, in Fiscal Year 2021 a record 72 different games were launched. The Lottery also issued all three, winning game-names from the FY20 Name that Scratch Game campaign: Birds of Pay, River of Dough Return, and Wags to Riches.

BEAT THE HEAT

The only thing hotter than the sizzling sunshine on a summer day in Idaho was the Beat the Heat Scratch Game and weekly second chance draw that began in June 2021. With the sun heating up summer winnings, the $10 Beat the Heat offered 25 chances to win the game’s top prize of $100,000! Once a week, players entered non-winning tickets for a chance to win a weekly prize between $500 (for temperatures below 80º for the week) to $10,000, based on the warmest temperature recorded in Idaho. If the official recorded temperature in Idaho reached 100º or hotter, the weekly prize was $10,000. During June 2021, Idaho experienced a record-breaking heatwave and the hottest summer on record. Each week in June, the second chance draw was for $10,000.

POWER FAMILY

Power up, Idaho! The Lottery welcomed a new family of Scratch Games that multiplied winnings! The supercharged tickets offered were the $1 Power 3x, the $2 Power 5x, an electric blue $5 Power 10x game, a $10 Power 20x, and the motherlode of power – a $20 Power 50x that multiplied prizes by 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, or 50x up to the electrifying top prize of $200,000. These games were turned on in April 2021.

HOLIDAY

If there is anything synonymous with the first snowfall of winter, it’s having a good ol’ fashioned snowball fight. During the winter of 2020-21, Lottery players had a chance to win one of five, $1,000 prizes by playing a digital, interactive snowball fight game using a second chance app code hidden in the play area. This made the year’s holiday-themed game more fun than ever, highlighted by the $1 Reindeer Riches, the $2 Gnome for the Holidays, $3 Candy Cane Cashword – which was peppermint scented, a $5 Holiday Sparkle ticket, the $5 Rebel without a Claus ticket, and the $20 Merry Money game that offered a top prize of $200,000!
