M A N AG E R O F THE YEAR 2023 Francisco Macedo, General Manager of Cliveden House and Group Operations Director of Iconic Luxury Hotels, was awarded the title of ‘Manager of the Year 2023’ at the 40th Anniversary of the prestigious Cateys, the biggest awards of their kind in the hospitality industry.

Internationally renowned, they recognise the strongest performers, latest emerging brands, and highest flyers in the sector, as determined by the industry itself. Francisco was recognized for his exceptional management skills, as well as the significant contributions he has made to the wider hospitality industry through his involvement in industry associations and charities. Francisco joined Cliveden in 2018 bringing with him a wealth of management experience from a wide variety of hotel properties. Congratulations Francisco!

The last few months have been a whirlwind of excitement at Iconic as we unveiled The Chelsea Townhouse to great applause from regular guests and the travel press alike. London’s newest townhouse hotel, and for the independently minded traveller, a refreshing tonic amongst a sea of other openings by large international brands. Although designer Gary Kellet has undoubtedly done a superb job, we were blessed to be given the most fantastic original architecture to work with and now with a new calm colour palette and paired-back design scheme, all the heritage features and the beautiful gardens beyond can truly be appreciated. Some of you may recall that, in a previous incarnation, this address was in fact ‘The Cliveden Townhouse’, and although the name has been changed twice, much of the artwork from that era still remains. The saying “if the walls could talk” is rarely so apt and as you explore the houses, you will quickly appreciate that many of the artifacts and the furniture have also been upcycled, which only adds to the rich history of the address and also supports our ongoing sustainability strategy. As with all our houses, an exceptionally warm welcome awaits, and I hope that this latest edition of Iconic Tonic tempts you to join us across the collection in the run up to the festive season or perhaps take advantage of some of special offers and have a treat to look forward to in the new year. V E N ICE I N TE R NAT IONA L F I L M F E S T I VA L The Hotel Excelsior, Venice, gave star-studded guests the red-carpet treatment during the annual Venice Film Festival in September. One of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals in the world, the Festival took place on Lido di Venezia, attracting globally renowned filmmakers, industry professionals, and film stars. The Excelsior has been an integral part of the Venice Film Festival experience for decades, offering a suitably cinematic backdrop with its stunning architecture and beachfront setting, as well as a range of luxurious rooms and suites, providing an unforgettable stay for its esteemed guests.

Attendees to the launch experienced exceptional service, whilst seeing for themselves the stylish new look, which is set off by the abundance of natural light and views across the beautiful grounds.

T AV E R N T A K E O V E R The buzz around The Lygon Arms was palpable once again as we welcomed James Martin to Tavern for a double bill of Tavern Takeovers – private dining experiences hosted by James himself. Thirty lucky guests secured tickets to these exclusive events, enjoying a tailored 4-course tasting menu, paired with his own James Martin Wines. The renowned chef worked his way around the room regaling tales of TV secrets, and how he acquired his vineyard, as well as answering questions from the crowd. Needless to say, an incredible time was had by all!

Patterned flooring, eclectic art and ‘Objects of Curiosity’ are showcased around the property, and each of the hotel’s 36 bedrooms and suites feature refurbished original furnishings and luxurious fabrics, ensuring a seamless fusion of style and functionality.
