SMC Resident Visa: Procedure and Cost
New Zealand uses a points-based system similar to Canada's and Australia's to draw highly qualified and experienced professionals worldwide. As a result, New Zealand's Kiwi nation steadily grows its economy.

SMC Resident Visa New Zealand
The New Zealand government offers a Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) resident visa that makes it possible to obtain Permanent Residency. The skilled migrant category resident visa has a one-year maximum validity period that can be extended to two years. One may immediately convert SMC into a PR if one acquires a job in New

Zealand. It is also possible to refer to this as a bridging visa for a New Zealand PR. The SMC visa for New Zealand, however, requires an online application
Procedure for applying for SMC Resident Visa under the policy governing the skilled immigrant category
Stage 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)
You get points for your education, professional background, age, and other factors in your online expression of interest. All received expressions of interest will be ranked in a pool according to the highest to lowest points
Every two weeks, Immigration New Zealand selects the applicants with the highest point totals from the pool of expressions of interest. The name of this procedure is selection
Although the SMC guideline specifies that 100 points are the minimum criterion for filing an EOI, 160 points are required for an Expression of Interest to be chosen from the Pool.
This indicates that all Expressions of Interest with a points total of 160 or higher will be chosen without further consideration.
Expressions of Interest chosen for further consideration from the Pool will go through a preliminary evaluation, during which Immigration New Zealand will examine the integrity of the data you supplied in your EOI

Stage 2: Residence Application
Your application for a resident visa will be submitted to Immigration New Zealand at the beginning of this second application stage, along with all supporting documentation for the assertions made in the expression of interest.
After receiving your resident visa application, Immigration New Zealand will review it in light of the government's residence policy. They will also consider your likelihood of successfully relocating to New Zealand and contributing significantly to its social and economic advancement.

If an interview is performed, the information learned there will be considered when evaluating the application against the settlement and contribution criteria.
Your application will be accepted or rejected based on your interview, supporting documentation, and EOI points.
