Discerning the difference between Dyes and Pigments Since ages dyes and pigments have been used to adorn various human creations, from clothes to the tall buildings. The naturally occurring dyes and pigments still being in use, with the changing era, synthetically produced dyes and pigments are used largely. The use of these in our daily life are all produced by the Pigment Industries Of India. Although both are used as a coloring agent, it is hard to tell the difference between them. Hence, the Pigment Companies of India extricate between the two: 1.

Dyes being resolvable in water, one has to inject a substance in the water, in order to marinate the color. A dye is said to be colorfast if the material is able to retain the color after the wash. Dyes are to be used in textiles, food, leather, polishes, lubricating oils and much more.

2. Pigments need to be ground in to dust and blended with a dispersing agent. The agent is then escalated on the material to be colored. As the dispersing agent is exhausted, the color is retained. The agent, commonly known as Pigment Dispersion can be water or solvent based. Pigments are used in paints, printing inks, textiles such as nylon, polyester, cement paints, paper, cosmetics and much more. After having to understand the difference between both of them, if you are still wondering about their application, you can try to find out by yourself by applying paints on the paper, as follows: 1. When you apply pigments on the top of a paper, without being enslaved, its particles get fastened to the paper, thereby making a bond between the pigment particles and the paper fibres. These appear to be a coating on the top of the paper. 2. Dyes are made in a way to cause chemical bond on the paper. There are also dyes available today which uses acid to merge with the fabrics. After this, they become a part of the material. The uses of pigments and dyes vary individually, as follows: 1. An artist’s paints, oil paints or water colors are made from pigments. 2. The dyes are used in making alcohol inks, permanent markers and stamp pads. Thus, you must need to know the difference between dyes and pigments to select the apt treatment during construction, which can thus avoid faults.
