Ms. Khiana Duncan `14

Khiana Duncan`14, is a proud second generation American and first-generation college graduate. Growing up, her family placed a strong emphasis on faith and education, both of which have shaped Khiana into the woman she is today. For this, in addition to their love and support, she is eternally grateful. While attending Immaculate Conception, Khiana was the first student to graduate with thirty collegiate academy credits, which she paid for by working various afterschool and weekend jobs. She attended Felician University where she graduated with honors in two years with her BA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She continued her studies at Felician University and graduated with honors with her MBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Khiana will graduate with her JD from Rutgers Law School in January 2022.

Khiana began her career in politics working on a presidential campaign, then accepting a position in Governor Chris Christie’s administration. With a desire to attend law school, Khiana accepted a job at the Hackensack Meridian Health network where she was afforded the opportunity to negotiate contracts with dozens of large pharmaceutical companies. Khiana has since spoken at several international conferences on best contracting practices in the clinical research and life science space. Khiana is currently a law clerk at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. Khiana resides in Rochelle Park with her fiancé, George, and their puppy, Pablo.

Mrs. Barbara Geisler

Barbara Geisler believes in a Catholic education and the emphasis it places on discipline, civic responsibility, and humility. She is the mother of four beautiful girls, Kaitlyn (ICHS class of 2016), Allison (ICHS class of 2019), Anna (ICHS class of 2024) and Caroline (ICHS class of 2028). Her husband, Mr. Curt J. Geisler, Esq., is a Bergen Catholic graduate and like Barbara, believes that daily exposure to the Catholic faith is important to developing a strong religious foundation. Her catholic school “career” began when her daughter Kaitlyn entered 2nd grade at St. Leo’s school in 2006. She volunteered as lunch aid, class mom, substitute, and in 2009 began coaching volleyball. Throughout her years at St. Leo’s school her positions included gym teacher, librarian, media coordinator, volleyball coach, and HSA President. Her service continued with her children’s transition to Corpus Christi where she started their first ever volleyball program in 2017. She is currently a head coach and Director of the program.

In 2020, she was the proud recipient of the Archdiocesan Parish/School Discipleship Award for demonstrating a commitment to young people and athletics. Barbara is also the Varsity Head Volleyball Coach at Immaculate Conception. Last year she coached her team to a Divisional Championship and was named NJIC Division 1 Volleyball Coach of the Year. Additionally, Barbara is the assistant to ICHS’s Athletic Director, the ICHS Parent Ambassador, and a member of the Parent Association. Barbara Geisler continues to honor her hard work, commitment, and dedication to her daughters and players, and the ICHS students, faculty, staff and administration. She brings high energy and enthusiasm with her in all of her endeavors and ICHS is blessed to have her.

“...For it is in giving that we receive...” ~Saint Francis of Assisi~

Mrs. Stephanie Kedersha

Stephanie Kedersha earned a BSN in Nursing from Bloomsburg University in 1999 with a minor in Spanish. She began her career at Englewood Hospital, with her first position being a staff nurse in the Telemetry Unit. She then accepted a position in the Cardiac Surgery Step Down Unit as a Care Manager/ Charge Nurse. In 2006, she began working in Same Day Surgery, also at Englewood Hospital. In 2015, she began at Mountainside Hospital as a Cardiac Rehab nurse. She still works in both of those hospital settings some evenings and during school breaks. In 2019, Stephanie made the switch to School Nursing and accepted a position at ICHS. In March 2020, the world changed as Covid-19 emerged in the US.

Stephanie assisted with attendance to help ensure all students were present and accounted for during remote learning days.

She consistently educated and updated the school community on this new disease as the pandemic soared. In April 2020, Stephanie felt she was needed in the hospital. She became a “redeployed nurse,” using her skills to assist the Covid floors and ICUs staff. Stephanie then assisted in developing the Covid19 protocols and plans for ICHS. She attended many webinars, contact tracing courses, and meetings with other school nurses as they worked to open schools in the safest way possible, pre-vaccine with so many unknowns. Stephanie continues to play an important role in the ICHS community. Stephanie is BLS, ACLS and PALS certified. She is a member of the NJAAP and various school nursing organizations such as NJSSNA, NASN. She is also currently the moderator of IC’s Future Nursing Club. Without Stephanie Kedersha, this school would not have been the same throughout covid.

Mrs. Dorothy Laverty

Dorothy Laverty is the second of six children in a family that placed a high value on education. From a young age, she was reminded that she had to save her money for college, and she found a home in various schools - St. Peter’s College for a BS in Marketing Management, Fairleigh Dickinson University for a MS in Computer Science, and Montclair State University for a MA in Educational Leadership and a NJ School Business Administrator Certification. After working in the Corporate world for 36 years while attending graduate school, she realized that it had to be less expensive to work in a school than to keep paying to go back to school, and joined Immaculate Conception High School in 2012 as the School Business Administrator. In that role, she has brought organization and procedures into the Business Office that have prepared the school for their second hundred years, and has identified many federal, state and business grants for which ICHS is now qualified.

She works closely with other administrators on many different projects - the purchase of our “fleet” of two school vans, now serving 15% of our students, the introduction of our own Food Services department, establishing ordering and payment processes that have streamlined and modernized our programs, and the introduction of many accounting procedures that have helped ICHS become eligible for additional outside grants and other funding. Dorothy and Alan, her husband of 43 years, live in East Rutherford, and have raised their two children there. Both children also work in service areas. Lori`99, is a supervisor with New Jersey’s Department of Child Protection and Permanency, and Joseph, is a property manager for the Philadelphia Housing Authority. As anyone who has spent more than 5 minutes with her knows, Dorothy’s grandchildren are treasures that she cherishes, and all of them have been to ICHS to attend or help out at various events and jobs.
