Dear readership, We have the joy to invite you on the mesmerizing adventure of discovering the essays written by our fantastic students and to dive into a World of Magic, painted with the enchanted brushes of childhood and framed within this magazine in the colours of sheer bliss, utter passion and vivid imagination. Among the topics of this magazine, we can encounter Fantastic New Worlds, My Superhero, What I can Teach the World and Message to My Future Self. Therefore, our astonishing students have depicted fantastic new surreal worlds or even our world metamorphosed by the paramount and astounding power of kindness. They have chosen to speak about their heroes, fictional and real, in an attempt to inspire us to always strive to be our best versions. They have exposed what they want to teach the world and their message rigurously wraps the importance of kindness, generosity, altruism, friendship and unconditional love. Last but not the least, our students have photographed their thoughts and wrote messages to their future selves and it is inspiring to see the depths of the profoundness and wisdom their messages carry. Since the words we speak represent the world we live in, we invite all of our students to devour as many books as possible and to plunge into the magic of reading and writing. The ones who choose to read extensively live thousands of lives, discover treasures written on the pages of countless books and reveal the truth that there is no limit to what we can dream and achieve in our earthly lives. Writing is another superpower that we invite you to access and practise, step into the scene and let it drip, fill the papers with the breathings of your souls and minds, inspire your readership and make the world a better place. The world needs good writers to furnish our minds with exceptional materials of knowledge and portable magic. Books give a soul to the universe, provide wings for our minds, give power to our imagination and courage to fulfill our bravest dreams. In conclusion, we want to congratulate the readers and the witers of today, who are the genuine leaders of tomorrow. Have you ever asked yourself if a person is as you think he or she is? I have many friends and each of them is unique, each of them has his/her qualities and his defects but what is the most interesting fact about my friends, is that when you start to know them, their personalities change radically for the better. I am also one of the unpredictable people. I can’t lie. Sometimes I look happy, but in my soul, there are also clouds, at times. So, my friends are on the same wavelength as me because they are people, and every person has his/her own flaws, but everyone is perfect in his/her own imperfections. Don’t judge before you know people because they can change, they just need time and you need to help them because every person on this planet can change and become his or her best version. The phrase ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ means that you shouldn’t decide the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone and we should respect this expression because many people tend to be superficial and they judge every person without understanding that the real WEALTH is carried only in our kind hearts and brilliant minds. So, to conclude, stay faithful to who you genuinely are, despite the noise of other people’s opinion. You are unique and perfect in every single way, just the way you are!

Appearances are deceptive K A R I N A M I L E A / 5E
It was a nice Saturday noon and I was going to the supermarket. On the way there, I saw a man sitting on the cold pavement. He was poorly dressed, untidy and looked unkept and depressed. I decided to go and get some food for him. When I gave him the food, he laughed at me. I was like “What? ”, not only surprised, but even annoyed. “I am not a poor man” he explained, “but I want to try a very important experiment”. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “I want to look like a poor man, because I want to see how many kind and caring people are there and how many give me any money or food. You are one of them”, he smiled. “Oh, now I understand”, I replied. “Have there been many other kind and generous souls since morning? ” I asked out of curiosity and with alacrity at heart. “Not many, but, what it is more important, nobody has offered me food since now, although I look hungry, all the others offered only little money. I don’t think that they considered that is better to have money to buy my favorite meal, it was probably more convenient not to spend time and effort to buy something nutritious for a beggar. And the strange thing is that all of them considered after offering me money that their destination would be totally different. And this is only because nobody spent a minute to buy a poor man the strict necessities, they only give money”. I said nothing. I had never seen things like that, but I started to think thoroughly at our too small efforts to help the others, at our deceptive and wrong impression that we did our duty for the unfortunate ones, only because we give them one penny or some unattractive things that we don’t need any more. The “beggar” in front of me was not a poor man, but with few words he opened my eyes and touched the depths of my soul. To help means not only to offer some money or things that none of us need, to help means to genuinely care and offer our time, our generosity, support and unconditional love.

Fantastic New Worlds A N A B R A N Z A N / 5E
Throughout my lifetime I have asked myself “Is there more to this world? ” and I didn’t know the answer until I found something underneath an old tree trunk. It was a typical hot summer day, I was on my way to the supermarket when, out of the blue, I tripped over something. At first, I thought I had just forgotten to tie my shoe laces, as always. I stood up and looked towards the ground; the shoes I was wearing didn’t even have shoe laces. I assumed it was just a rock and went on. A few minutes passed by and I tripped again. This time, I was sure it wasn’t a rock I tripped over so I didn’t move my body, I looked around, not giving a sign of being aware of anything, when I saw it, a little egg shaped creature that didn’t seem to have a color, maybe a mixture of infer red and hazel green but a very transparent shade. I tried catching it but it kept flying away and coming back, as if it was trying to tease me. I stood up and asked “What are you? ” The creature shook its head, somehow trying to communicate. I finally understood that it was trying to tell me something like “Follow me! ”, therefore I said “Lead the way! ” After about one hour, the creature finally stopped. It stretched itself, creating a medium sized portal (which didn’t really have a color either). Not really thinking about it, I hopped in and the next thing I saw was surreal. There were little sky islands, rope bridges everywhere, monorails, floating bikes and waterfalls which looked like deformed clouds. The colorless creature turned into a human-butterfly hybrid. I started walking towards the waterfall when a chunk of the island fell into oblivion, all the hybrids started panicking and so did I. Struggling to escape the disaster, I tripped and fell. Fortunately, my hand grabbed a rock and I hung on to it. Then I woke up.

Have you ever wondered what future can bring to us? How ravishing or appalling can it be? Well, many people are searching and researching about lots of topics, from global warming to languages, mathematics but also philosophy and anthropology. But lately, the young generation is trying to change the world, making adults understand what it really hides behind the nice part of it, and discovering things that no one has before. Some of the children are taught to aim for their best, to reach for the moon and if they miss, to hit a star. Ergo, they are supported whatever they do, they become confident and will not give up. This is an advice which is second to none. But have people ever thought of what other children do, with no education, food, water, parents and support? The answer is easy, they give up. Well, now that you think of it, is it fair? This world is a biased one. People only think of themselves, but we can change it! I want to make the world better for everyone to live happily, in a wonderful place. The first reaction to this is to disagree, keep saying life is not fair. I think education is the answer, the solution. Learning in schools made me think of what I want to be, as everyone says, when I grow up. Nevertheless, I don’t want to transform right now, I can follow my dreams even at 11 years old. I want to be a teacher, a teacher who loves people, and a teacher who is loved by people because this is the start of my big plan. But for me, mathematics, literature are not options, I want to teach children how to be fair, this way, the answer to my biggest question is that the world will be ravishing! Lastly, I want to say that my true message to the world is “Try to be fair, this is how we can really enjoy life, because we only live once, but if we do live right, once is enough! ”

When we look back to our lives from the past, we think that it was better when we were younger because life was easier than it is in the present. Sometimes I burst into melancholic tears when I look at the photos from the past and a feeling of nostalgia forces me to cry even if the events were happy. When I think about my future, I always fantasize about what the future will bring me from now on. I ask myself: “What could happen if…? ” and sometimes I cannot fall asleep because of my thoughts about my future. A message to my future self would be:, , Don’t think about how mesmerizing and appealing the past was, enjoy the present and hope that everything which will happen, will be good! Always keep your head up and be optimistic! Take care of yourself and serve as many people as possible by means of your unique talents! When I read this, I will probably be 20 years old and remember my childhood with a wide, sunny smile painted on my face. Some days in my life were amazing and each experience has made me the person I am today.

I have a very clear idea of where I am today in my life and who I want to be in the future. If I speak about my childhood, my life as a child was, well, definitely interesting. I was born in Bucharest, Romania and I am the single child in my family. I am currently living in Bucharest but for the future I have other plans, so I picture myself living in Miami, in a big mansion embelished by an army of palms. The most important passion for me is football so my future self is well connected with my ardent passion. I wish I could change a few things about my personality. I, the one in the future, want to be more understanding, more patient and, last but not least, more committed to discovering the good we can do anywhere we go. Many of my childhood memories will help me develop who I will be in the future. Because I have been constantly trained, with much dedication and trust and have made many sacrifices, I am keen on becoming the best football player that has ever walked on earth. I see myself in the future playing for one of my favorite teams: Real Madrid, Machester United, Bayern Munich or Juventus Torino. I hope to be famous, to win all the competitions I participate in. I even picture myself on a stadium with spectators from across the galaxy, playing against Planet Jupiter Team. Who knows? Maybe this peculiar dream will become reality in the future. I would like for my future self to always remember that Ronaldo was his role mode and to surpass his performances. When I look at these goals, I realize that they can be accomplished with the help and support of my friends and my family. Without their unconditional love, nothing would be achievable.

Dear older self, How are you? Have you got the same long hair, are your eyes still big and bright? Have you discovered your greatest passions? Because I’m undecided right now. I hope you didn’t’forget about my dreams. Do you remember how much you wanted to be a great horserider, despite the fact that you had fallen off the horse so many times? Do you remember how much you loved horses and the camps from Nana Farms? What kind of music do you listen to? Have you forgotten Linkin’ Park or Metallica? You were listening to it until you fell asleep. I hope that rock is still your favorite genre! I hope mom and dad are fine, full of energy and that they are still near you like two astonishing guardian angels. Please hug them for me! I hope that in the morning you don’t need to wake up early and rush to a job that you do not like. Choose the job that gives you wings to be the best and lights torches of bliss in your playful and inquisitive eyes. Are you genuinely happy? I just want you to be happy. I have to leave now because I am building you piece by piece, thought by thought, action by action.

Dear me, I am writing this letter to you now, hoping that you will not find it too silly when you read it after many years. Of course, I am still a child now and maybe I am perceiving the world in childish way. I will start by begging you to never drive away the child who lives within you. It might be difficult, especially when life puts in front of you so many obstacles and when you have to pass through so many difficulties. I would be very happy knowing that you will always cherish the little things in life. I hope that you will always laugh with the same lust, that you will enjoy sunny days as much as you do and that you will always adore the beach and the sea. I know for sure that you will never forget that happiness is not brought by fortune and fame and that you will know to find happiness in your family’s hugs, in a delicious strawberry and vanilla ice cream, in a song that you like. I hope that you will still enjoy swings and rollercoasters because these give you a genuine and surreal feeling of freedom.

I am a 12 year-old boy for which the future is today. What I am today, what I do and learn, will greatly be reflected in the painting of my future. I will tell you more about myself in order for you to know who I will be in the future. I have a wonderful family, which is made up of my mother, my father, my older sister, my lovely cat and me. I like sports, Michael Jackson’s songs and I like writing poetry. There are a lot of activities for my age, but who knows what will happen in the future. God knew what he was doing when he made my parents. My parents are sometimes drastic and serious but also kind and happy. They are the best parents in the whole world. Sunday is a family day which is embelished by going to church, having lunch together and spending quality time together. I am a normal child who is encouraged to follow his heart, to be kind and to help others. I do not know what I will do and who I am going to be in the future, but I do know that my parents will always be a spectacular sun shining on the sky of my blissful existence.

Hi! My name is Andrei and I want to send this message to my future self. I am a normal student, and, like all of us, I have some wishes. Let us talk about real things, not about the best gaming computer in the world, or about very expensive cars. When I grow up, I want to be the best architect. I will design massive buildings in a lot of cities around the world. I want to live in Los Angeles, with my best friend, Andi. And now, let us talk about expensive dreams. I want to have a big house, with a nice garage. Besides the house, I want cars. I want to have a Lamborghini Veneo, Gallardo, Aventador, Huracan and a Bugatti Chiron. YES, all of those cost a lot of money. I want to have some animals as well: a panda bear, a dog and a white and beautiful tiger. If I live in Los Angeles in the future, I am going to stay with Andi in our mansion and our parents are going to live next to us, in another house. However, if I am happy with my friends, that will be a perfect life.

Dear Dalia, The most precious drop of wisdom I would like to add to your fountain of life would be the following: be happy on a daily basis, life is short, make it worthwhile by living it to its fullest. Make a lot of friends, but friends who are just as kind – hearted as you are and who help you be a better version of yourself. Continue to follow your dream of becoming a professional basketball player. It might be tough at times to split your life among endless basketball trainings, school life and social life but it is definitely worth it since your highest passion is this beautiful sport. I know that one day you will congratulate the younger Dalia on having followed her dream and on having become one of the most passionate and assiduous basketball players in the whole world. To conclude, always remember to love your family and friends and to make them aware of the fact that they represent the whole world to you! Shine older version of Dalia, as bright as you were meant to and on your way make others fall in love with the beauty of this miracle called life. Your younger and faithful version!

Dear older self, Do you think I ever imagine what I would be like 15 years from now? Yes, I do. I dream of the way I would look, my perspective on life, my choices, the values I would embrace. One of the paramount questions would be ”What message would I send to my future self?” in order to help me stay truthful to myself and my dreams. I might just have some wise messages for my future self. Firstly, dear older self, remember to always respect others, be polite, kind – hearted and generous. This will polish your soul and make you shine from within. Secondly, be more organised. That would definitely turn all that chaos into a genuine heaven. Thirdly, take school seriously, learn hard because some day you will be one of the best specialists of this world and live a meaningful existence by helping great numbers of people. Fourthly, never give up, even in the darkest moments. Life might have its ups and downs, it is similar to a rollercoaster but the shadows are there only to help us appreciate the light. Enjoy the ride on this overwhelming, fabulous and bewildering rollercoaster called life.

Dear future self, I am your past version. I always wanted to ask you how is it in the future, better or worse? Did I become a doctor? How many children do I have? I think it is complicated to be an adult. I am writing to you to remind you about how blissful it is to be a child, not to have to worry about anything, to play all day long, to do a mischief and tell your parents that you were in your bedroom doing your homework. Oh, it is so funny! But, because you are an adult and you have more responsibilities, I will give you a word of advice which was passed on to me: surpass all the difficulties and embrace everything that can be salutary for you. I wonder, now that you are an adult, do you still dream with your eyes open? I mean, your mind is changing, you are more earnest and I think that you are no longer imagining fantastic new world, superheroes and unicorns. However, perhaps you dream even more but your dreams have now become the colourful and permanent brushes of paint in the elegant hands a highly skilled painter who creates her own universe function of her vivid imagination. I am looking forward to meeting my older version and do remember, dear me, if you can dream it, you can achieve it!

My Superhero
My biggest passion is football, so my superhero is connected with my passion. He is Cristiano Ronaldo, the best football player in the world. He was born in 1985 and he is 33 years old. He was born in Madeira Island, in Portugal. He played for Sporting Lisabona, Manchester United and now he is playing for Real Madrid. He has won the title of the best football player in Europe 5 times and has also won “The Gold Ball�. He has won Champions League four times, once with Manchester United and three times with Real Madrid. He is the captain of the Portugal national football team and has number seven on his T-shirt. He has broken an important record, because he is the first player in the world who has scored one hundred goals in European competitions. For all of these achievements, he has turned into a superhero for me. A superhero is, in my opinion, someone who can influence your life, and Cristiano Ronaldo influenced my passion for football, making me train hard and giving me the trust that someday I will be just like him. I admire him because the first time I saw him was during a fotball mach with a powerful opponent, FC Barcelona Team, when he was given the command of his team and he helped his team mates be more confident, determined and involved and somehow I felt like this guy was amazing and possessed an incredible charm as a leader. He is a hard worker, thoughtful, smart, passionate, and attentive person and makes me wish to follow his career and way not, exceed his performance. He never gives up on something and as a consequence, he has achieved important things both in his personal and sporting life. He also opened my mind and changed my viewpoint that sport is suitable for all people as long as those people are really passionate about that sport, it does not matter whether they are fat or skinny, it is important to work hard and to believe in themselves. I respect him also for his charity acts and when I saw him doing these things I understood that he was a good person, with a big heart, who influenced my life in a very positive way. Cristiano Ronaldo has a new title to add to his record after being named the most charitable athlete in the whole world, because he had paid the medical bills for many ill children. My greatest desire is to meet him and to explain to him how much he managed to influence me and to make me want to become a great footballer, but also a strong man. Cristiano Ronaldo is my superhero and has always been a source of great inspiration to me!

Growing up, we are all faced with images of countless Superheroes. A Superhero is someone who commits only heroic acts and who helps young children like me to find their way in life.

The Spider Webs of a Superhero B A D E T O I U I N G R I D / 6C
My favorite character is Spiderman. He is a hero who saves people who are in trouble, with his web. In case they fall from a building he throws his web and they hold onto it. His web is strong enough to hold a person or two and create a myriad of miracles. At the beginning of the book, we see that a spider bites Peter and it influences his blood and from that moment, Peter turns into a hero, called Spiderman, a selfless and generous hero, who puts his life in danger in order to save the people around him and to create a safer environment for everybody. Some of his villains of our story are: The Eagle (Jimmy Natale) who is a mutated character and turned into a villain killer known as the Eagle. Unlike Adrian Toomes, probably the most famous of the Vultures, Natale does not need a suit to fly since he suffered mutations with wings, beaks and spitting acid. Carrion appeared as a zombie, a sort of clone of Jackal, who had a deadly virus. The main villains are: The Lizard (however, in an incident, the Lizard was forced to kill Calypso, who tried to use voodoo to control the monstrous Lizard and certainly received his well-deserved punishment), Doctor Octopus (one of the most famous negative characters, Doc Ock, has never been a killer). He has always seemed a scientist, like Parker, and Norman Osborn. In the battle of the good (Spiderman) and the bad(the villains), the GOOD always triumphs. Spiderman is my favourite hero because he is empathic, genuinely cares about the others and he always risks his own life to save the others around. He lives to serve other people and by serving other people, you become immortal. Therefore, I invite all of you to be selfless, altrustic, generous, to serve as many people as possible and to put your skills and love in the service of others.

The world is a place that does not always give you what you want, but you could give them everything you can and prove that you deserve it. You should have the power to understand it, though we recognize that coping with obstacles is a bit difficult at times. You should be glad on a daily basis for everything that you are offered! Live the moment! Create your own Universe! Think about it: if tomorrow you do not have anyone near you, and all of your possessions are not of any value because of a crisis, a war, a natural disaster, then you will realize that you have not appreciated any of what has been offered to you. Every morning wake up with a smile on your lips and think about that tea you drink in the morning, while other people do not even have water. Think about the fact that you have clean clothes to wear, while others have nothing to wear. Think about it, you have the opportunity to learn in a great and beautiful school, and you think you should learn, but you do not give your best, while others would do anything to have a book to read. You always have to appreciate that some people are doing fantastic efforts to give you some things that you think are trivial or consider them unimportant. Appreciate everything that is around you: people, things, possibilities, conditions! Show respect and offer your utmost love to people who are there for you anytime and anywhere, who always put a smile on your face, who always help you and are always there to give you the wisest words of advice.

What I Can Teach the World M I R U N A P O P A / 6B
I think that showing empathy to each other is the key to making this world better. I would love teaching this to the world, because by teaching it, everyone would be able not to be afraid anymore and show everybody else who they really are. Throughout the years, people changed. Back in the days, people would not talk about each other behind their backs and they would not abandon each other when they needed help the most. At least, true people would not. I don’t necessarily say that things back then were different, because I believe the world hasn’t significantly changed. The things which I mentioned should happen no matter when. As I said, showing empathy to each other should make the world change. Showing respect to everyone no matter of the age or social status, being friendly and helping each other, are some of the steps to growth and evolution. There are so many people having a hard time every day because of others’ behavior or the way they speak to them. Being a family will make the change, not kicking members of the family out only because their way of behaving is not the best. But helping them and showing them the correct way is the change itself. For instance, I had one colleague in my classroom who used to annoy with his behavior most of my colleagues, and after some time, my colleagues decided to start a petition to get him out of the school. Hearing these things, participating to it, was the last thing I wanted to. I believe that wanting to get rid of him was one of the worst decisions that my colleagues could have ever taken, because, as I said, the actual solution was to help him and teach him the right thing to do. In conclusion, I believe making the world a better place needs one more element for achieving it: a common effort in helping each other.

There are people surrounding us at all time whether it is in the subway, in school, at the store, everywhere and they pass by us without even being noticed. We are always with our eyes in our phones, and we never to stop and interact with someone. It is kind of ironic if you give it a thought: we spend all this time being too busy, checking our social media apps instead of actually putting time into getting to know and understand someone. So if there was a thing I could teach the world, it woud be to start creating more human interactions. You might wonder why it is so important to create connections between us. And for this question, the answer is quite an easy one, human interactions are the one most special thing humanity has ever encountered. By creating one simple connection after the other, we can begin to have an ever deeper understanding of mankind. We can begin to understand the way people perceive life. In addition, you never know what a simple ‘hello’ can mean to someone. Without knowing, with one simple action, you can make someone’s day better. Unfortunately, in nowadays society, choosing a person haphazardly and starting talking to them is seen as peculiar, and maybe that is a reason why we prefer to remain closed off and with our noses in our phones. But we cannot let our lives be dictated by what other people think of us. We should not let such a thing stop us from doing a good deed. It is paradoxical in a way, the one most special thing humanity has ever encountered is put to an end by other humans, therefore choosing to not to try and brighten up someone’s day because you are afraid of being seen as strange is pointless. In the end, I hope that from this piece of writing everyone can learn how important and beautiful connecting with another person can be and I hope that people will choose saying ‘hello’ to someone instead of remaining ‘stuck’ in their phone.

I like to learn or read things about Space, our Solar System and the Universe, because Space has fascinated me ever since I was utterly young. I want to speak about this subject everywhere, even at school or to teach different people about this. At home I speak with my parents about this, I tell them that I want to become an astronaut and that I want more books about this topic. I would like to visit NASA, stay there for one month and learn other things about Space. I always dream of the day when I am able to speak in front of one billion people at a conference. I wish to live on Mars for a period and when I come back to tell everyone how astonishing and surreal that experience was and what I discovered. I am also dreaming of becoming the person who can find another Planet that we can inhabit. I will be famous and people will want to meet me to tell them about my experience on Mars and other interesting things. I cannot wait to fly within Space and meet aliens, find other planets to live on, stay on Mars and do other extreme things, possible only in Space. If I choose to die somewhere, I will choose Space because it is so interesting and so beautiful. I am dreaming of telling people that we can leave Earth and live on another Planet, and also telling them that I discovered that aliens exist. I am also excited about the fact that I shall be part of the generation who travels by flying cars, wears a hologram on the wrist instead of a phone and experiences living in a flying house. I am looking forward to teaching the world about SPACE and open these magic doors of knowledge to as many people as possible.
