It’s been an incredible year. Will you help me name some of our top Research accomplishments? • Remodeled A Level and opened our Coffee Shop serving Starbucks • Opened redecorated Medical Office Building lobby and moved Hospital Patient Registration closer to physician offices and A Level services • Opened VINE program at RPC and redesigned care models on several units • Research accomplished many “firsts” this year: o Dr. Cates - region’s first patient for Pantheris treatment of PAD o Dr. Romeya - first da Vinci XI thoracic surgery patient for removal of lung nodule o Dr. Rosenberg - nation’s first image-guided sacroiliac (SI) fusion patient o Dr. Seligson – first minimally invasive Intuity heart valve replacement o Dr. Kalra – first Patient with brain cancer to be treated with Optune device o First hospital in region and HCA to earn Pathway to Excellence designation • New linear accelerator, delivers external beam radiation to patient’s specific tumor site • Opened new Employee Gym on B Level • Enhanced Research Brookside Campus and opened new services • Added multiple physicians to our excellent medical staff • Saw hundreds of Research employees participate in community events • Sponsored many organizations like KC Chamber Business After Hours, Dancing with the Stars for Cristo Ray, AHA Heart Walk, Brookside Art Fair, UMKC sports, KC Zoo, FCKC Women’s Soccer, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night and many more • Opened OB ER and OB Hospitalists programs • Added Rapid Care Path and expanded RMC emergency services • RMC was honored for the fifth time with grade “A” by The Leapfrog Group • Earned five stars in five clinical areas from HealthGrades • Helped HCA Midwest raise nearly $1 million for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients • Improved our employee engagement scores, learned more about improving workplaces • D r. Ahmed traveled to several new places in the world teaching physicians and clinicians about leading-edge stroke care It’s a great time to reflect and take pride in knowing we all gave a huge part of our lives to patients and their families during the past year.
