Project - LA BANQUIERE
Brief:
This Project i undertook during my internhip with Marianne Tiegen Interior Design, located on rue st. Merri, Paris.
The project was to redesign and renovate a chateau in Montpelier that was previously used as a wedding destination. It is now reimagined as both a wedding destination as well as a home-away-from-home hotel and business space with a capacity to house up to 100 people.
My task was to conceptualise and design the spaces for functionality, and informed for aesthetics by the lead designer. I created the plans, section and elevation views of all spaces, designed and created all technical drawings of the professional kitchen and created detailed working drawings for furniture and kitchen manufacturers; providing material, equipment and lighting point specifications to same.

Project - THE BUFFER ZONE
“a neuroscience - informed living model to support the cognitive health of children living with ADHD”
Brief:
This project proposes to design an environment that channels the principles of neuroscience in the design of the built environment; and extending this concept to encompass the home environment and activity zones.
This space will introduce the concepts that have been proven to work in fostering calm & increased levels of attention. This would include introducing elements of biophilia, structural, spatial and design qualities that are adapted to the needs of the child; and zones for restoration that responds to their cognitive needs.
The space would be conceived as a collection of integrated and connected zones; with the goal of the project being to give children living with ADHDbthe opportunity to live and play in spaces that are intuitively designed to help their brain rewire itself, to potentially eliminate the need for stimulant drugs and to create antecedents that leads to the expected behavioural outcomes that would help them in the process of understanding their needs and integrating into society in early adulthood.

The Space - Hangar Y
Classified as an historical monument in February 2003 and located in the Forêt de Meudon near Paris, Hangar Y was constructed between 1879 and 1884 for the dirigible La France by Charles Renard and Arthur Constantin Krebs and is reckoned the first of its kind in the world. It formed part of a military air base in Charlais Park, served as a workshop for making balloons in the First World War, and for many years was an outpost of the air museum at le Bourget airport. The perfect location, size and structure for this design project, it takes inspiration of some of the spatial qualities from the original use of the building. An airplane hangar inspires elements of lightness, openness and a sense of connection with the skies.

Project - La Nature Gallipot
Conceptual apothecary shop
183 rue st Denis is located in a historical site in the 3rd arrondisement of Paris. A protected area, it features Classical buildings derived from the architecture of ancient Rome, that is characterised by exposed limestone masonry and highly decorative elements on the exterior walls.
La Nature Gallipot is an apothecary store selling organically certified essential oils, cold pressed oils and specialised, bespoke aromatherapy blends.
More than just a store, La Nature Gallipot wants to take you back to the origin story of where life began, and the connection between man and nature.
We propose to create a space that marries the old with the new and speaks to the spirit of the house trade ( apothecary ) with exposed brick walls that mirror the outside wall finish, elements within the space that evoke the experience of being in nature. Natural/ naturally derived interior finishes in warm materials that allude to the earthiness of nature are married with metallic accents.

This hybrid, mixed-use space is made up of two individual spaces harnessing the power of nature to create calm, balance and grounding in the individual.
They play into the harmony of mind and body through ritualistic experiences.
The essences of tea drinking and heliotherapy inform the general ambience and spirit of the interior space; and informs the desired emotional responses triggered by being in a space of healing.

Chris Ofili:Afro
Roselenaamistella
Jenaba Tina Abdou Abubacar The Warmth is a series of videos capturing the changing pigments of people’s faces and bodies as she asks them questions about their lives and experiences. “I was looking for new narrative trying to follow roads not taken; asked myself emotions had a color and if could see them” she says. It was this idea that led Roselena to use a thermal imaging camera device which detects infrared energy, or heat, and translates into visual images. The deep hues visible in and around the subjects are the result of their body temperature changing as Roselena interviewed them. Different tones appeared and moved around their bodies as the subjects recalled details of their journeys and traumas. The colors would shift when they spoke of their hopes and loved ones, favorite music and passions.
The root of is the same for every emotions Human Being :
Captain Shit is superhero invented by Ofili, who has appeared in number of his paintings since 1996. Partly inspired by the Marvel Comics character Luke Cage, Captain Shit is symbol of black superstardom. The collaged black stars refer to the many untold stories of fame in black history. While Chris Ofili is best known for his elaborate figurative paintings, he has consistently produced drawings, as well as prints and watercolours, as parallel activities to his painting practice. Ofili’s colouful paintings (such as No Woman No Cry 1998, Tate T07502) are typically glossy with layers of resin, and often embellished with glitter and collaged elements, including, notoriously, lumps of elephant dung (as in Double Captain Shit and the Legend of the Black Stars 1997, Tate T07345)). With his drawings, Ofili develops his decorative patois with far simpler tools. Often monochromatic, as in afro, his drawings rely on intricate and juxtaposed areas of patterning for their decorative effect. This work is dominated by the single word ‘afro’, inscribed in lowercase cursive script. Closer inspection reveals that the letters are formed by a chain of tiny portraits. Each of these heads sports a distinctive afro hairstyle, defined by a dark smudge of soft pencil. DOUBLE CAPTAIN SHIT and the Legend of the Black Starsis a large painting by the British artist Chris Ofili that depicts Captain Shit, a black superhero invented by the artist. The figure of Captain Shit appears twice in this painting in identical overlapping representations. Both figures are presented frontally and stare out towards the viewer, and the figure at the front stands with his left hand on his hip. The two Captains are composed of very small dots of red and yellow paint and they wear skin-tight yellow suits and red capes, belts and boots. The composition of this drawing is dominated by the word ‘afro’, and the flowing lines which emanate from it. Closer examination reveals that the word composed of tiny drawings of heads. Ofili revels in such visual puns. Underlying this work is Ofili’s response the racist view that ‘all black people look the same’. The afro becomes statement of black pride and, since each tiny head is different, way to create individual portraits. 3. Exhibition space

Concept - One Apartment 4 Ways
This project was centred around the articulation of four architectural components that are commonly used in architecture and interior design projects. I chose my studio apartment specifically because I was interested in how to innovatively approach design in small spaces; tackling and resolving the problematics involved in small space design while still creating a liveable space that is functional and aesthetically pleasing. We explored the elements of introducing inhabited wall concepts, using the window as a liveable space, exploration of ways to use floor and ceiling spaces and finally facade design that also involves communication between interior and exterior spaces.

Bumblebee Spaces
This option showcases how space can be intelligently used by extending liveable space beyond the spaces between the floor and ceiling. Creating differences in floor heights introduces dynamism, functionalism and visual interest to small spaces – the multi-dimensional quality takes away the feeling of claustrophobia and restriction that comes from small and open plan spaces.
The layout and understated quality of the materials is inspired by the simplicity of Japanese architecture. The main living space is multifunctional with the ceiling-installed clothing storage and large, floor to ceiling mirror that creates the illusion of space, and can be used for entertainment, a dressing area and workspace. Nature plays an important role in health and wellness; and the ceiling installed trellis housing the plants create a zen environment for falling asleep and waking up.

“In architecture, interstitial spaces are those that neither fall inside any room, nor are outside the building — the gaps between floors and inside walls. Though we do not inhabit them, they can be integral to a building’s function.”
Culled from https://andthosewerethereasons.wordpress.com/tag/interstitial-architecture/ Inspired by traditional Arab brickwork on facade structures that offer levels of privacy without blocking out natural light, as well as allowing for inflow and outflow of air that is crucial in warmer climates and seasons. Because this site is located in Paris, the internal wall is specified in a double-glazed glass wall material. The indoor/outdoor space is then used as a relaxation and wellness spot with indoor trees and indoor plants.
