IAI-DESIGN AWARD —Entry Rules

1）Entry Work Participation extends to all design studios, companies, universities, research laboratories, inventors, design students and design professionals from all over the world. Any person of them can participate.

2）Work Requirement For example, for interior design category, the entry work that is completed in recent one year is eligible for the competition; for architectural design category, the entry work that is built within three years is eligible for the competition; for industrial product design category, the entry work that is created in less than two years is eligible for the competition; All the entries must be the entrants’ own.

Registration Period：the deadline for December 31 of each year Award Ceremony：April of each year Yearbook： May to June of next year

Awards Setting 1.All entries must be followed by such three steps :prequalification process,nominee award review, and top award review.

Login directly to the official website to enter Juries will review the entry works respectively The committee will do its second round of APDF member space and start uploading your according to different categories on line, all review job on-site according to works’ works for the first assessment participants could login the member space groups and check the result of the first assessment on November 10.

Jury ( Partial ) Karan Grover(India) The heart and soul of India in the field ofarchitectural design , devoting his life to the research and practice of greenbuilding and sustainable development. In 2004, he became the first architect awarding“LEED Platinum”issued by the United States Green Building Council through hisproject “CII–Sohrabji Godrej”; his another work -”Algemene Bank Nederland“ was awarded “ The 2th LEED Platinum”. He won Gold Metal of the United StatesGreen Building Council by designing“Keendiam Diamond Factory in Nawsari” whichwas honoured as the green plant in the world in 2008. In October 2012, the work “comprehensive business park of Calcutta” wasapproved as LEED CSby India Green Building Council.In July 2013, “the third block in Vadodara L & T Knowledge City”wasawarded LEED Gold issued by India GreenBuilding Council. Vicente Guallart（Spain） (Valencia 1963) is Chief Architect of the city of Barcelona. He has widespread experience in urban design and architecture in cities across the world, which he pursues based on a multi- disciplinary approach. He was the specialist responsible for the creation of the Urban Habitat department in Barcelona, which brings together urban design, environment, infrastructure and information technologies and which promotes a new, more holistic way of designing that has the potential to respond to the urban challenges faced by the city in the information society. His work contributed to the mayor of Barcelona’s selection for Fortune’s list of the world’s 50 greatest leaders and to Barcelona being named the European Capital of Innovation for 2014.

In 1990, Soon- In Lee became president of the LG Europe Design Center in Dublin, and in 1995 director of the LG Electronics Corporate Design Center in Seoul. During the same year, he became Executive Managing Director of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP). He has been a lecturer in design management at graduate school. Dean of International Design school for Advanced studies of Hongik University. Soon In Lee was President (20112013) of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). Setsu Ito(Japan) Setsu Ito is a Japanese designer with a broad work experience in architecture, interior, product, industrial & packaging design. Collaborated with leader of avant-garde italian design Alessandro Mendini at Studio Alchimia, and then with great master of modern architecture and design, Angelo Mangiarotti. He opened his design studio in 1995, and since 1997 in partnership with Shinobu Ito, he works and consult for international clients, in a wide range of activities in the design field from architecture, interior, industrial and craft to packaging design. He have received international design awards Some projects became permanent collection of “Triennale Design Museum”, Milan and “Die Neun Sammlung International Design Museum”, Munich. He is visiting professors for important design schools such as Domus Academy in Milan, Politecnico di Milano, IUAV University of Venice, IED Istituto Europeo di Design Milano, and Tsukuba University Japan. His teaching reputation was recognized when he was awarded with "The R.Bonetto Award 2002" (Italy). He is a part of jury of the IF Design Award 2015 (Germany).

Alan Chen(China) One of the most famous designers in Hong Kong, has won over 400 international awards both in Hong Kong and abroad and has a world renown reputation in New York, London and Tokyo. In 1996, the Graphis Magazine, which is considered Bible in design industry, selected Alan’s design company as one of the top ten best design companies.

Ken Yeang(Malaysia) Shareholders of North- Han ShaYang Architectural Design Engineering co., LTD and chief architect; graduated from the university of Cambridge, when being an doctoral student, he devoted himself to the reseach of architectural ecology and biological system features. So far 30 years of theory study and practice laid his master status in the international architectural deisgn field. Mr. Ken Yeang has been employed as viceChairman of American High- rise building and Urban Residential Advisory Committee for a long time, and selected to be member of “European Public wealth”.

Establish Prestige-IAI Design Award Climbs on the Top of Reputation 1〠Online-Review System IAI Design Award adopts "Online review system of Asia-Pacific design network " to judge. Based on the full understanding of the characteristics of the industry, and the rich experience of online display system, online review system of IAI Design Award obtained affirmation of the judges.

Online review system has three major advantages: first, once the entries are uploaded, they obtain an exclusive number, name, unit, project name, etc. Personal information will not display for ensuring the fairness and justice; Second, in the face of thousands of entries, this system can guarantee high efficiency of the judge work. Each operation of the judges is counted by the application. The results will not be affected by human factors; Third, at the early stages of the judge, each judge can use their own account to work independently, so they will not interfere with each other. But in the last section, the judges judge for a work at the same time to ensure everyone's opinion.

Establish Prestige-IAI Design Award Climbs on the Top of Reputation 3〠Strict Review System The review system of IAI design is very strict, rigorous, which is divided into three rounds: entry review, nomination review,best design review: 1, entry review: tthe juries will review the entry on line, the Entrants will receive email from Committee. 2, nomination review: jury from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Chinese mainland, works respectively according to different categories to choose 5 nomination works. 3, the final: chairman of the committee and the international designers select the best performer in the 5 works of every category to win IAI - Design Award.

4〠Designers from more than 20 Countries Contending for IAI Design Award International famous jury, the strict and fair review system and award Setting...Make the IAI Design Award to become the most international and professional design award. In 2010, the first IAI Design Award received domestic and international 616 participating, received 1596 entries in 2011, received 2616 entries in 2012, received 2013 entries from 35 countries around the world. The quantity rises year by year.

Analysis of IAI Design Award entries and winners in past years

From these diagrams in past two years, we find that the number of foreign entries rised year by year and the number of chinese winners also augmented. Some entries in certain domains such as the application of new materials and creative investment culture, arrive at the highest level.

IAI Design Award Committee has held overseas extension activities at Milan. Representatives of IAI Designer Award winners form Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Hongkong have taken part in IAI Design Award Exhibition at the Milan East Asia Museum.
