Greetings from

IAAS Belgium

Hello everyone! As I am sure was the case for many of you, IAAS Belgium was online this month. We had some teambuilding activities with our local committees and watched movies together. I can definitely recommend trying to play Town of Salem online, or among us is (of course) also a great option. Our biggest event this month was the online Beer & Sustainability event, the first of many IAAS scientific events! Thanks to everyone who joined us in learning about Belgian beer, from growing hops to producing alcohol-free beers and seeing the amazing work Father Isaac is doing with Trappist beers in the USA. Even though we enjoyed this online month, I hope to see some of you IRL soon! Wishing you all the best, Nina National Director of IAAS Belgium

Beef & Sustainability Event 9- 11 November 2020, OnlineFacebook During three evenings we had different speakers from different backgrounds in the beer industry. The event kicked off with Joris Cambie, an organic hop farmer with his own brewery. He thaught us which measures he takes to grow is hop organically and also how he uses that to brew his own beers. Sadly, since the event was online, we couldn’t do a taste test, but it was a very interesting night nonetheless! On Tuesday we were happy to have Stijn Panis with us. Stijn has two nonalcoholic beers on his name so he explained to us why and how you can make alcohol-free beers. Last but definitely not least Father Isaac from the Spencer Brewery joined us all the way form the USA! Trappist communities value sustainability and community work a lot, so it was no surprise that they have an amazing program to make their beer and monastery more sustainable. For example, they work with biomass energy that they generate themselves, they have a spring on their lands for which they provide a 7km long protection and much much more. We were very happy with how this event turned out. Not only was there a lot to learn. During three evenings we had different speakers from different backgrounds in the beer industry.

Greetings from

IAAS Bulgaria

Hello, young people! That's how we greet each other! November was a very difficult month for us. They stopped us from the university and sent us to our hometowns. So they canceled all our events that we wanted to organize for the anniversary of the university. But we do not give up! We had a lot of online meetings where we were thinking a lot of new projects. Despite the difficulties, we did not stop talking and helping each other. When someone was in the field and wanted advice, we connected and discussed the problem. We are one team! We are one family! We from IAAS BULGARIA, we want to wish happy holidays to all of the IAAS FAMILY. Let 2021 be better so we can meet and get to know each other! We wish you happy holidays and a happy new year! We send a lot of love! Best regards Marinela Kostadinova National Director of IAAS Bulgaria

Organizing World’s Women Day Event November 2020, Online- Zoom

We do not stop creating! We have 10 almost ready projects that we want to realize and we are very excited! We have 3 new members. There are more , but they want to get involved after everything opens so they can immerse themselves in the work process. We also tried to get into almost all the events organized by other countries. We share all their events and send them to friends to reach more people! We want to show them that we support them and that what they do is useful to us. We also had a lot of exams, but who could enter the meetings in ZOOM.

We keep them a secret still, but I decided to share them with you because we are one big family! The biggest project we are organizing will be in March. For World Women's Day we will invite the most successful ladies in agriculture. We want to show that women are also strong and can cope in this "male" profession. We still have many projects, but we are waiting for the seminars to allow. I shared that our team does not want to do online events. The reason is that they want to talk face to face with such successful people and shorten the distance. To share their worries about their careers and give them advice and motivation. We also think that we will not be so successful with online events, because Bulgarians are not so familiar with online meetings, and if we do them entirely in English, we are not sure whether the lecturers will agree, because they may not know the language.

Hello a fraternal greeting from Ecuador Due to COVID in Ecuador we still have restrictions to meet and carry out face-to-face activities. We have been meeting online to plan activities and how to close the year. It was a fairly quiet month because many universities returned to virtual classes and we were able to organize an event to help entrepreneurs in the agricultural and artisan area. Due to a pandemic in our country, entrepreneurs have suffered a lot economically and we wanted to find a way to help them. We have to stick together and work empathetically a lot more now. Take good care of yourself and stay at home. A hug, Viviana Salgado National Director of IAAS Ecuador 13

Greetings from

IAAS France

Bonjour! (Salut! between friends) November is the third month after we started our academic year and welcomed our newbies. We are only a very small committee and our training makes it difficult to be able to invest in the association for more than 2 years in a row. But with the current board, we are trying to involve all the members as much as possible and this entailed weekly meetings on Tuesday. This month was a little bit different because IAAS France was entirely online. [Instagram]: we have decided to create some post for certain (inter)national day to be active on social networks and promote our unique local committee. [Partnership]: we presented to our school the interests of making a partnership with our association. Many meetings took place this month and today the school seems to be very interested. [Scientific event]: we are preparing the first scientific event on agrotourism which will take place in January. Best regards, Marie BERNARD National Director of IAAS France 16

Social Network November 2020, Instagram In order to make itself known, it is essential for an association to be active on social networks. From this unanimous view, we decided to post from time-to-time content on Instagram on the theme of "(inter)national day”. The other objective of this activity was to involve newcomers in a fun project that would allow them to immerse themselves in the values of the association.

Development of the first scientific event and for this we launched our advertising campaign to attract as many students as possible.

Greetings from IAAS Netherlands Hoi and greetings from your IAAS committee at Wageningen University & Research! In November, you may have missed hearing from us in terms of events, but some of our members have been busy behind the scenes. With four members, we are contributing to the organization of the Youth in Agriculture Pre-event to the Climate Adaptation Summit 2021 happening in January, in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Three members have been involved in a food system challenge of our university (Team Food rooters, watch the final videos here!), and we have put efforts in fostering our relations to another international student organization in Wageningen. We are so much looking forward to real-life events again! If you need anything from us, please get in touch with me! Maybe we can create a fancy online event together. netherlands@iaasworld.org My best wishes to you, stay safe, healthy and happy! Angela Sievernich National Director of IAAS Netherlands

Hello everyone! This month we wanted to cover points such as sustainable development, ods, raising awareness among IAASPeru members. The presentation "USE OF SEAWATER AS AN ENERGY SOURCE AND IT'S IMPACT ON THE INDUSTRY'' held on November 28 (Lima, Peru). Another important point we made was to see how the IAASPeru tables of 2021 will be chosen, where we seek to train future leaders of iaas at the national level, guiding them little by little to this new world. Hello! I’m afraid I don’t have any good news to tell. This COVID-19 situation is not allowing us to organise any activities. All our efforts are focused in keeping the members of the two committees in every matter of interest related to IAAS Europe and IAAS World. Since IAAS Valencia is still a very new committee it is important that they can find the support of our other local committee. We try to have a really fluent communication so they can report any concern they have. This is especially important due to the fact that they are still solving some bureaucratic procedures at their university. From the National Board we are already looking towards this new year hoping that we will have some opportunities to find new members and motivate everybody after this awful period. Greetings from

IAAS Taiwan Hi! 你好! Greetings from IAAS Taiwan. Our new cadres have just been handed over, so many internal affairs of the organization are still being adjusted. In the past six months in Taiwan, no local people have been infected with COVID-19, so we can still go out and participate in activities as usual. In November, we planned new goals of next year, such as recruit more new members in next semester, acquire more sponsorship, cooperate with more organizations, and help agriculture students. According to our goals, we will start a series of activities, including monthly online sharing sessions, a small agricultural trip next semester, and more posts on our IG.

IAAS Taiwan is a small organization, but we believe that in the future, we will be a large organization with many members and accumulate many network resources to help more agricultural students. Eventually, IAAS Taiwan will contribute to Taiwan’s agricultural development and interact with more countries. Thank you for reading our monthly report. Hope everything goes well and everyone stays safe. Best regards, Weber National Director of IAAS Taiwan

Greetings from

IAAS USA

Up until now IAAS USA has been primarily focused on local chapter activities. Local Committees have been having their meetings, in a distanced or digital fashion, focusing on speakers instead of farm tours. Several chapters also attended IAAS Scientific events, including ‘Carbon Sequestration in Agricultural Soils.’ We also had two delegates to World Congress this Summer. The National Committee has been hard at work advancing IAAS USA and growing the organization. We have launched an Instagram account (iaas_usa) and are using it to better market events to our membership. For the Exchange Program, our Exchange Coordinator is working on establishing an offering at Mustard Seed Farm in Ames, Iowa. We are also focusing on establishing new chapters, with possible leads at Cornell University and Pennsylvania State University. Finally, the exec team is working to plan our annual National Summit this April, with the theme of ‘Community Agriculture in the Heartland.’ Nolan National Director of IAAS USA
